You forgot the mud stuck on the tyres that gradually fall off when you go on the tarmac, and the "gasoline rainbow" when your engine go in the water... Those two effects were wonderful in Mudrunner
@@trippingandpolenta nah I've been in Michigan and saw gasoline in the water but your engine has to be damaged for that to happen and I thought that was cool
Not only were the nights in Spintires generally darker but when you turned on the headlights, it would make everything outside of the illuminated area extra dark.
The two greatest crimes in Snowrunner, for me is: 1: Tatarin isn't amphibious. NOT EVEN A SNORKEL ATTACHMENT. 2: The old Logging system. Where each sized load is a certain amount of points, and you have to deliver a certain amount of points. The new way is just too tedious in my opinion.
Spintires was so much ahead of its time, and only 500MB game! I love it! Snowrunner has campaign and looks better but Spintires has special feel and sounds better
The problem with sound effects in Snowrunner is that the engine is way too loud for the player to hear anything other than it. If you lower the engine sound, there is much more depth to the interactions with the environment.
I love the mud physics in mudrunner When you in high gear it began to sink but if you put on lower gear it will rise, it also affect the weight of cargo depends on it, the mud system in mudrunner is totally sick! I almost lost in hardcore when my truck began losing grip and started digging down like a snake lol
@@Miichi5 He probably meant it like when you have high gear the wheels spin fast and slip on the mud but when you set it to lower gear they spin slower and get grip
In Spintires, when you slammed on your parking brake on asphalt roads, turned sharply, or braked hard in general, *your tires would make a skidding sound,* this didn't appear in snowrunner or mudrunner, only spintires.
As much as glowing flowers looked pretty, I am Not sure they are very realistic. On the other hand, the option to inflate/deflate the tire is surely a very needed feature in Snow Runner.
@@josephchohan5351 Many real life vehicles have the option to deflate/inflate the tires from the dashboard, with No need for extra tools or service stations.
Great points and I would add two more: Camera control and gearbox functions. Yes all games now have a logical camera setup, but it seems to me the only one with nice and smooth camera is the OG, furthermore the gearbox functions with the little setups are much nicer as well.
@@Gabriel-he6ih Mudrunner has a bit better effects and and creates the same atmosphere better. I really like that flair. Does Snowrunner have anything like that?
i will always remember when i first discovered the spin tires tech demo. it was like i had just gotten the newest and coolest relevant thing for christmas
I always wanted to be able to anchor myself. Tow a vehicle, get stuck and latch onto another anchor point to pull both out. Instead if I get them stuck, I have to either leave the vehicle behind, get myself out and come back for the other with the chance of getting stuck again.
I can bear with all the cons you mentioned, i only hate the limited maps we can play in Snowrunner. I have enjoyed hundreds of hours in exploring spintires/mudrunner unlimited maps.
Actually, Snowrunner has more first party maps and these maps are almost bug free, On other hand the modded maps are kind of a gamble...some maps are really beautiful and are bug, glitch free but some other maps are either not a good design or are poorly optimised...but still I like the way we can play as many maps as our device can handle in old games which is kinda like a huge scope for improvent in case of SR
I started with Snow Runner and didn't play the previous titles. But oh man, that whole mud simulation looks so much better in Spintires, why did they change it?
I don't think they're lazy but they lack time like any other devs in this industry....investors demands faster return on their investment which In short put pressure on devs to get things done faster
Oh yes, I miss the Blockpost from Mudrunner! I think it would be really cool to have some restrictions on the maps. Like you cannot pass some post with semitrailers, or no big trucks on small bridges. Maybe you have to restore or upgrade old bridges to new ones before you can use them with really heavy trucks. Could also be an option for hard mode
Although I put 90 hours into ST some years back, I hadn't seen half the features listed in this video. Some will be DLC, but seems I need to revisit it! :) I picked up MR a while back and was thinking of buying SR now, so looked for a comparison and found this. Now I'm torn, as I like a challenge and MR already has less treacherous mud, SR even more so... ugh. Pity there's no version combining the best features of all three.
yeah im the same i played spintires heaps back in the day but my computer sucked so it got frustrating, i got mudrunner on ps4 but got kinda bored of it. most of the stuff he said about spintires is new to me, might have to fire it back up!
I'd like to add a few features, even if some are just cosmetics: 1: exchangable horns. Some of them simply sound like they got recycled from a Lada (it doesn't suit a 30 ton truck when you sound like a smart meep meeep). 2: The option to see the truck rust free and clean. Nice option imo, even if it doesn't last long :D 3. Exhaust pipes are sometimes more than just weird. A few more options would't hurt 4. all trucks are able to be upgraded to AWD. Some trucks would benefit in more attention 5. The logging system is quite annoying. You end up using 2 or 3 trucks that can actually handle the logs properly 6. Highway trucks, I don't see any use for them other than spending cash on it, just to have em in the collection 7. How about a road clearing unit? Like a front loader or a cleaning unit to wipe away debris? If you clean a section, every time boulders are left there to annoy you.
SD1ONE: SnowRunner mud physics is easiest in the series SnowRunner mud physics irl: from solid ground to fucking liquid in one step Edit: without any visual signs that is, which is total bs
Wow, that stinks about starting from level one in mod maps. I wish they let you keep the campaign level in the mod maps, maybe have them as new regions in the global map option
As we all know. It's all subjective. Valid points based on your perception and I respectfully agree with only 3 points you made. Thanks for your time to make this Vid
1 SP's glowing flower give the game some fantasy feeling, I love it. Mean while in SR, WTF are those blinking glowing eyes around? 3 Both SP's original look and SR's redesign look are good, Most ugly ones are MR, they just simply switch the grill style between horizontal and vertical. 4 All cargo in SP are in bulk, so they share same pack and unpack technique; in SR, cargo other than logs are prepacked, they supposed to be something like "tie down", or "secure". 5 5:25 6900TS in SR can be a semi-amphibious vehicle. Yup it's really "semi" because it's front half of body float, and rear half sink on the bottom. 6 Yup, the most terrible thing SR over SP. Miss the old winching time in SP and MR. 7 May be they improved tire pressure response later on? This feature appears along with SHERP DLC, but I didn't feel any difference that time. I don't know, I haven't play SP since it and didn't have chance to purchase China DLC. 9 Where is 9? 8 Mud physics then jump to 10 radioactive map. 10 Radioactive map. SP is actual radioactive area and actual working Geiger counter. In SR, they actually don't have radioactive feature. When approach the area in 7:10, the Geiger counter sound is actually a sound source placed there, just like musics come from fuel station, trailer store, etc. Or maybe we can say, SP have the Geiger counter in player's truck, SR leave the Geiger counter at the site. 11 Photo mode, I actually never used it for photo, I used it for scouting.
I agree that it is a MAJOR drawback that we do not have amphibious vehicles and tire pressure adjustment in SR. Many vehicles even have the CTIS present on their rims!! It would be so great to be able to change the tire pressure to get more grip in mud and snow, but to low tire pressure damges them on the street. Vice versa we get better fuel economy on hard tires on-road. Also I wish we had a better diff-lock system with more options like center, rear and front. This would bring more diversity to the vehicles when a truck has rear lockers but not full lockers. And where ffs are SANDMAPS?!?! Some maps in Australia and Africa would be great! Sand and rocks and narrow jungle tracks and more sand everywhere. This would make a real good use of tire pressures. WIth some nice Mack Trucks and some Land Cruisers.
All tires were less inflated in Mudrunner. Shifting weight by Braking or loading logs would instantly be visible from the tires flexing under the weight of the truck. Not only did it make the trucks seem heavier, it also prevent the dumb bouncing around trucks do in Snowrunner when hitting tiny rocks. In Snowrunner I wouldn’t even know there are tire physics unless I fully zoom in and look at them from the right angle. It’s a waste.
...that last one. Damn, SnowRunner did mod maps dirty. For me, MudRunner is the most fun, and SpinTires is a challenge. Been saving on SnowRunner to play it with a friend next month.
The terrible sounds killed my interest in Snowrunner. Mudrunner feels much more alive. If only we could have the sounds and simulation from Mudrunner + the graphics and activities from Snowrunner.
None of the games got the sound of driving through mud right. It certainly doesn't sound like "QLLQLAQLAAQLQLLQLAALQLLLQLALQAALLQLQALQLQLAALQLQLQL", like you're mixing MacN'Cheese or good pussy
the last time I played spintires was a year ago and I only stopped playing because the game for me was unplayable even after I tried several solutions, I guess you also had the winch crash, right ? since then i stopped playing spintires and bought mudrunner, although i like spintires better, is spintires already playable ?
@@TTHIAGO666 of course. I tweaked the mud settings a little and it's the best from this trio in terms of simulation. There's room for some improvements though here and there but it is playable :D
@@trombulan i really miss playing Spintires and i have only 55 hours of game time and I have almost all the maps left to complete, i always loved the game, it's just very sad the developers didn't do a good job fixing the bugs, but they did a fantastic job creating this game, on the maps i only miss the last DLC i would like to buy but i don't know if i will be able to play because of the bugs, i will start playing again today
Mud runner to me had more limitations on the map than snow runner. But I wish some things carried over from mud runner to snow runner. And the main thing that drove me nuts about mud runner is only having logs as some of the extra stuff you show makes me wonder if it's a mod
It's not mudrunner, It's spintires which is still under different publisher and currently it's pulled out from steam due to some controversy between Saber (runner series devs) & Ooveee (original spintires publishers)
I remember Spin Tires being like the STALKER of trucking games. Snow Runner definitely dialed some things back in the difficulty of the physics in some ways.
I need to play spintires at some point, only played the ladder 2. It looks amazing for being the first game in the series, way more colorful and stylized than later entries
Showing the Azov 53 plowing though shallow mud doesn't prove much. One of SnowRunner biggest complaints by players is that the mud/snow is to hard, to slow and to tedious. Not that it's to easy.
The driving physics in spintires is much better and the game is more difficult, it's a shame that the snowrunner doesn't work the same way its too easy. The spintires feel that the truck is heavy and runs through heavy mud in the snowrunner you drive 8x8 through any mud no problem, it's a pity because a snowrunner with driving physics from spintires mud would be great.
Why does nobody mention things like 1. Vanilla trucks have little to no suspension. 2. (This is the biggest problem imo) When you turn the back of your truck slides (in some cases a foot) in the direction you are turning, effectively destroying your turning radius and it makes the front tires bulldozer through shit.... Even on pavement. 3. Trucks handle the same on pavement as they do on dirt, mud, snow and ice.... Bumpy and slidy just at different speeds. 4. Low gear ISN'T low gear at all, it has NO torque modifier all it does is slow your wheel speed down... In real life you would use low for the torque, in game it has no torque and only helps you crawl through mud.... Also engine sounds in low are very disappointing.
To be fair, the transmissions were shitty in every game, like a weird CVT auto hybrid. It was just made much worse and more obvious in snowrunner by locking low's adjustability behind the offroad transmissions
they had some amazing enthusiasm with great attention to detaail when they we're working on the first game. that i feel might have faded over time. i doubht they'd go trough contacting owners and sourcing trucks to record autenthic sounds for each type and model of truck as they did for Spintires. long story short they we're hyped. spintires was a new and exiting thing.
Spintires is really the coolest game. The visuals and sound creates such a special ambience i’ve never seen in any other game. Turning off the engine at night and just listening to the woods.. captures the soviet vibe just 👌🏻
SN is disappointing if you are looking for off roading physics, it’s more into machinery and the joy of finishing tasks. First thing is that you can’t make your short cuts because the map designed to follow routes also you don’t even get stuck with 4x4 mud is only delaying with constant forward movement, add to that the transmission is not good as ST
Copyright law is very strange. Soviet vehicles in the game must be changed because of copyright - but where this real vehicles had been designed, USSR (and for some years Russia and other post-soviets countries) has no copyright law and music piracy etc was legal.
Equally easy on console, just have a tab under crane operation that says tire pressure, once selected X/Y to lower/raise. It could be an add-on, visually adding hoses on your rims.
One thing about this was that they actually updated the old Spintires during Mudrunner's life... So most of these new Spintires things werent there until that one update... And also the fact that Spintires is from different company than Mudrunner and Snowrunner.
I do agree that spintires is better, but you haven't mentioned how many camera options you have in SR, you can adjust pretty much anything. And it does have a free cam.
IG Ke spintires yaad Hai ? really main abhi bhi spintires khelta hun snowrunner ko purchase bhi nahin kiya.. spintires ke sath Ek emotion juda hua hai 🥰🥰
Senti falta de muitas coisas do Lendário Spin Tires e MudRunner no SR, más oque mais me frustrou foi em não ter as fiéis marcas dos veículos soviéticos, más ainda bem que tem Mods.
Interesting fact: You can't get Original Spintires in Steam.... who already has buyed, they lucky (also me) And all Spintires fans just throw away 30euros juat for nothing..... Original is better, think y'all
Yes, I wondered where it has gone. Especially after the China DLC came out. BTW is it possible to download it after re-installing the system? Or is it gone in that case?
@@jochenkraus7016 People are praising Spintires for all these features that Snowrunner is seemingly lacking thinking why did Snowrunner regress in features but thats not what happened at all. The devs of snowrunner ( Saber Interactive) lost the rights to spintires because of shitty preverious publisher (Oovee) who stole and locked out Saver Interactive. Eventually a new publisher picked up the dev team (Focus Home Interactive) to help make Mudrunner. Spintires back then was a very different game and Mudrunner was supior in many ways, origional still had charm but Oovee hired a completely new dev team and started changing all kinds of things from the original game, adding in all new features and dlc to really boost sales and keep the Spintires brand alive. Eventually, Oovee either lost the copyright or there was another conflict with Focus Home Interactive that resulted in having Spintires be removed from steam permanendtly. I miss the origional Spintires, but also liked all the new changes that Oovee did after. Wish things just worked out and they could settle the copyright in a less hostile manner because I enjoyed having variety with the trucks in mud genre.
@@suchsneak3545 So there was quite some drama behind the scenes :-o I started with these games when Covid hit in spring 2020 so I don't know the old versions. I only wondered that Spintires and Mudrunner are so similar, even some maps. And as I wrote, I wondered where it has gone just after the China dlc.
@@jochenkraus7016 yeah I remember buying all the DLCs right after the China DLC came out and then poof gone from the store. I still have it in my library and I'm still able to play it but the player population took a hit. There's a slim possibility that spintires could go back up on the steam store but who knows
Wait wait wait, I have question about last thing. Currently I am playing DLC maps and I thought I can enjoy this game more by playing modded maps, but seriously mod map means new profile, without saved money and unlocked parts?!
actually, it depends on modder that how much money and level you'll have when you start the game... but In most maps I only saw level 1 with very little money
