I have the highest respect for Dame Maggie Smith. She was battling cancer during the filming of Deathly Hallows, but the fact that you couldn't even tell, shows how badass she is. She owned the role of McGonagall.

I'm currently re-reading book 5 and I literally laugh out loud at the sassy interactions between McGonagall and Umbridge. I forgot how savage McGonagall actually is.

I love the look on Severus' face when Minerva steps out in front of Harry. He instantly knew he was in trouble. It also had hints of showing he likely didn't want to fight her not only because of her skills as a witch but also due to their years as friends and colleagues. Alan Rickman truly was an amazing actor when he can convey all that in a two second look.

It amazes me that this woman was going through cancer treatments later on in the series and she still managed to act her ASS off. She is an amazing talent and I'm so glad she was the one to play such an important character.

Minerva McGonagall... By far the most underrated character of the entire Harry Potter series. She tried to stop Harry from being put with the Durseleys, and continuously watched out for Harry and all his friends for the rest of their schooling and sometimes beyond. She punished fairly and taught well, and she was one of the few to stand up against Umbridge. Like, I honestly don't know why she isn't consistently praised and adored like Snape or Dumbledore are. 🤷🏼‍♀️

and given the fact that Maggie Smith was dealing with cancer and shingles during the times from Half blood prince to Deathly Hallows part 2 makes her even more epic. Maggie Smith has my complete respect.

The way she speaks in alliteration is probably my favourite part of her character idk why. "A particular proclivity for pyrotechnics". Everything she says just flows beautifully.

The true most badass moment is in the books when Harry is having his careers consultation and she says to Umbridge "I should have made my meaning plainer. I meant all defense against the dark arts test SET BY A COMPETENT TEACHER!"

McGonagall and Flitwick were probably the only teachers at Hogwarts actually capable of the fundamentals of teaching. And McGonagall for me is one of the most badass characters in all of the series.

I love how Umbridge and McGonagall did the whole “climbing the stairs to be taller than the other” thing. That was great directing.

The most underrated character in this entire series... book 5 was great for her, but book 7 had my favorite scenes... her being the one to scream out when Voldemort declared Harry dead, and the fact that she took great pride having Harry in her house, not because of his fame, but because she genuinely cared about him, in sort of that stern grandmother way. Forever salute you Minerva.

I love how when Shape has his wand out everyone just stares but the second Minerva has hers out everyone backs away and screams. They just know better for who to be afraid off
