Software control and the Stream Deck have done it for my primarily and they work well. If I need simple cuts or fades between cameras, the keyboard shortcuts for the software control work very well. Just press a number key for a camera and hit Space for cut or Enter for fade. At my church I use a touchscreen monitor on the computer running the ATEM Software control program. I have also used the 'METAcontrol' for android which works pretty well.
#1.5 I have seen folks use the ATEM Software control with a touch screen on their computer, seemed like a pretty good solution. But I use #7 and it’s awesome (thanks to your other video on the topic for introducing me to it). Companion is so powerful and also easy to use.
I also use a Baz-converted GVG100 for ATEM control (it uses an internal Arduino, so this somewhat fits in your Arduino category, though Baz does the programming and hardware changes).
I recently got the Duet Display app for my iPad. I don't anticipate it being a long term solution, but it should work for what I need for the time being.
Just found your channel, awesome videos on the ATEM! I've just ordered one to use for online drum lessons and maybe some drumming live streams. I'm really interested in MIDI control as I have a Roland SPD-SX sample pad connected wirelessly via the Yamaha MD-BT01 so the potential for me to have a literal "hands of" approach and trigger commands by hitting pads with sticks would really allow me to get my head out the computer for lessons and performances. Keep up the great videos!
I’m a little late to the game on this topic. I’m a solo creator, and I prefer to film outside in a standing position, but I still want to reap the benefits of a multi camera set up, so I endeavored to find a way to send midi signals from my Line 6 Helix to my 4K ATEM to control the camera feed. I ended up having to program specific MIDI CC Commands, map them to a Generic MIDI driver in a software called ShowCockpit, and then convert MIDI over to OSC signal which triggers actions in the Bitfocus Companion app. It was all a bit tedious, but thats the price I pay for settling to work with a Windows Laptop. But at least now I can change the video feed by tapping the footboard.
I am new to video but using the ATEM Mini Pro and a Stream Deck. I did learn that setup here. I have a questions as well :). Is there a difference between the Companion Gui and some other Companion Softare that is independent? In one of you videos you linked H2R Graphics to allow for floating into text etc. I do not see the H2R Graphis as an opion in the current GUI.
H2R Graphics should show up as one of the modules built into Companion. If you are not seeing it then be sure to update to the latest version of Companion
I have a 13th way that currently use. Foot Pedals for switching. They are Savant Elite USB made by Kinesis. I have 2. I had to reprogram them for button on being set to the number 1 on a keyboard. The second pedal set for the number 2. On the second one the 3rd pedal is set for the number 3. The 4th button is set for Return on a keyboard which is Auto on the ATEM. I launch the ATEM Software Control on my Mac and a long a I have in front the foot pedals work.
I use Companion and Stream Deck, and sometimes Companion Web buttons on my iPhone. I have used MIDI controllers as well. Soon I will get a MIDI guitar foot pedal board, so I can do the switching with my feet 😀 I will also try to use the OSC commands my iPhone can send, related to my head and eye position. Then I can switch the inputs with my head, by looking at cam1, computer screen, cam 2 etc. 😉
Here to Record I have done it with another MIDI device, so I just need to get a grab on the board 😀 I’m creating ATEM Mini episode, just like you, in danish though 😊 I have been programming since 1982, and been an iOS developer for more than 10 years. I like to try out “crazy” ideas, only the solutions I deliver to customer, are as simple as possible, for stability and ease of use. I really enjoy your shows, laid back, and very informative, great job John 👍 Best regards, Thomas Professional Nerd 🤓
Excellent your video as always !!! Thanks for your contributions. Check @ HERE TO RECORD. the thin HDMI cables you use as they are called to buy from amazon. I am from Argentina and I have not seen them here.
You can use MixEffect in an iPad to do this (or at least that is coming soon). Other than that I suspect BitFocus Companion has some of these features!
You can certainly control audio levels for each input channel using companion, but I don’t see options for controlling the EQ or compressors / gates / limiters. You can control input gain, fader gain, set mix option (on/off/afv), and reset peaks.
Hi John, Do you know any program to control atem via TouchOSC with a windows app? For mac there is ATEMOSC but i cant find anything for Windows. Regards
OK, i have an Atem mini exteme iso, a router, an ipad,a raspberry pi and a macro keyboard with 9 buttons and 2 knobs ive bought from aliexpress which works over bluetooth and usb. So … i would like to use my ipad to wirellessly monitor the multiview with a transmitter (that i already do) and i’d like to use the macro keyboard to switch cameras….. how can i do this? Is there a way to configure the raspberry to comunicate with the macro keyboard and the atem mini that is on the same network with the rasperry over wifi?
can you share your work on the arduino project? i'd love to digg deeper into that. So far i've used the Mac software, keyboard, iPad app. iPhone app strata etc.. they all have one flaw. dropouts.. although all of them for the most part is a wired connection i always lose connection somehow..
Hi John Thanks for sharing so much information with us. I'm using a Streamdeck and Companion after watching your videos! I was wondering if there are any Midi options for setting up camera control. Is that something that can be done with ATEM OSC and OSCulator as I find using ATEM software control really difficult to get good cameras control! Any ideas? Thank you!!!
I've searched them too. I did'nt find the original ones. But I used Honyone PB26 which you can buy on AliExpress. They are sized as the original ATEM buttons, but they are clicky. I personally like that.
Can H2R Buttons be used to control cameras via the ATEM? We have PTZ cameras, and being able to controll them with a joystick via the ATEM without having to buy a separate expensive controller would be nice.
I want to setup a live stream of me in the music studio,I have 4 cameras into the Atem mini setup on the piano, keyboard, drums and full studio,if I wanted to have a button or phone to remotely switch cams placed by each instrument so when I walk over to it I can press it to activate a particular cam what is the cheapest solution for me ? I don’t want it to do anything more than switch cams,I figured as I have 3 phones and an iPad I could place them ? I’m a bit confused though and any help would be appreciated thanks!
Have you made a tutorial using the 810 with Stream deck & companion? I just brought the stream deck and want to jump start using it with the macros I want & need to set up for my 810 using OBS.
i use companion and a stream deck for extra buttons but i need a solution for the audio sliders. i use the korg nanokontrol 2 but anything i touch switches to AFV or audio off. is there a mapper for windows that can fix this?
Ok what about Just Macros The BAZ leffler GVG 100 to ATEM The Newtek Tricaster to Atem Chinese Knock off to Atem Currently i am using my Atem mini for live streaming and use the buttons there there is nothing like the real feel of a button compared to an ipad
Is there a way to have Stream Deck run an ATEM macro via a hot key? The ATEM responds to keyboard commands for base functions, so Elgato stream deck can be used using hotkey commands to send the keyboard commands to ATEM software control / ATEM Mini. I am hoping there is a similar way of sending a hot key combination that would fire pre-recorded ATEM Macros. That way the Elgato Stream Deck could continue running under Stream Deck software and control macros on ATEM without need of Companion. I want to keep Stream Deck software running and controlling OBS as my ATEM is feeding OBS for the livestream instead of direct from The ATEM Mini Pro. Is what I am thinking even possible?
Use case is Turning on Picture in Picture inside of the ATEM software using a macro to control Upstream Key on Stream Deck while also using Stream Deck to control firing pre-recorded clips in OBS. Cant have Companion and Stream Deck software running concurrently.
I guess if I had done my homework a little better, I would have seen that Companion has plugins for controlling OBS as well. Sometimes I can't see the forest for all the trees. Now off to learn OBS multi-action programming for buttons in Companion. Lots of converting of OBS multi-actions ahead of me!
@@heretorecord does it mean i need to connect ATEM’s ethernet to routher. Then my iPad connect to the same network ? Let say i connect directly atem’s ethernet (using usb-c to ethernet) to iPad, is it possible? Tq sir 😊
@@abusaiful.k4483 Yes, you will want to connect the ATEM to your router directly. Then connect the iPad to that same network. You cannot connect the iPad to the ATEM directly.
Even more specifically, I used these www.conrad.se/p/wuerth-elektronik-ws-pbtl-465rg11172501-tryckstroemstaellare-12-vdc-01-a-1x-avpa-momentan-1-st-1230155?searchSuggest=product&searchTerm=1230155&searchType=suggest
