Several of these have truly helped the way I shop, especially the wish list on my phone. I would love to thrift more for things I am looking for but the thrift store near me aren’t very good and I don’t trust doing it online. Another thing that helped me to cut down on shopping was figuring out what I don’t like about the item I am donating or not wearing. It helps me not make the same purchase mistake later.
Thanks for the tips! It’s not easy to find where to start because of the greenwashing a lot of companys do. But trying to be better is better than doing nothing! But I noticed that I’m getting beter. Better brands, better quality and fabrics. 🥰
Thanks you discussing this. I haven’t bought anything new for a year now. Second hand pieces are much more affordable and you know you’re not just buying the latest trends but what you actually like and will wear for years, not just one season or month.
Thanks so much for sharing these tips. I am older and for some reason it seems we naturally feel the need to follow trends and we want to keep what we have. I used to shop when stressed and when I figured that out it helped. Using an app or some kind of list can help too. When I had to photograph all my stuff phew 😅 I never knew just how much I had. I really enjoy videos like yours because it helps me to be content with what I already have. Can’t wait to see your next video 💗
This was so informative. Thank you so much! I really needed to watch this. I do good with not purchasing anything for awhile and then I slip down that rabbit hole. Ughh. But you hit the nail on the head with “trying to feel a gap” I think the real issue is I’m not happy with my body and the weight I’ve gained in the last couple years. It’s not the lack of clothes. I just need to get healthier and I’d feel great in what I already have.💡
Such great tips! My favorite was the bonus tip; I've definitely bought really cute items I've never worn because they don't go with anything. The discipline of figuring out how to style an item before buying is going to really help me. Thank you, Emily!
What a great video. A clothing swap sounds like so much fun. 98percent of my wardrobe is thrifted. I always treat my clothes with good care no matter the cost. I feel that respects the clothes and expresses gratitude for what I have. You are lovely. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. ❤❤❤
That was really great and super helpful. I've just started thrifting and would love a video covering top strategies or sites (though I'm in the US, so probably different here). The tips in this video were helpful (ask questions of the seller!); I wonder if there are more?
Great tips Emily! Thanks for linking the websites for us Aussies. I'm always on the hunt for locally made garments, which is sometimes difficult in this part of the world. Cheers, Tiina x
I have a question about your Leontine jumper in relation to pregnancy. I've been debating buying one for ages, I'm pregnant with #3, may go for #4 in the future. I do breastfeed as well so that 1-2 years of looser clothes and layers. Maternity wear is obviously a time sensitive thing and even with two previous pregnancies I like it when I can find flexible pieces that will work for any life stage. I think I'm just worried I have it in my head it's one of those pieces that'll look cute but in actual practice it's a mistake. I've only found one video of a pregnant person wearing it and while she's cute, she's short! I'm 5'10" so it's a different look! Have you worn yours since you popped? Do you still feel good in it? It would be a very practical year round piece for me, but not if it won't flatter!
Since this pandemia, I receiot gifts mor no trend, like cotton, since I follow influencers like Alyssa Beltemoo, wich I learn, to shop in a proper way and shop My closet
