Great video Joe thanks. Picked up my RS6 Vorsprung from Bath Audi this week. Not many folk could give a fig about this but… Only now found out that the Carbon Black & Vorsprung models are not fitted with ‘convenience key’ operation. The base model is though. Have had RS6’s previously & all had that allowing hand-on-door-handle opening & touch handle closing. Foot waggling under rear bumper to open tail gate doesn’t do anything either. Dealer contacting Audi to find out why. Weird. Blimmin brilliant car though. Simon
I’m waiting for the RS6 GT possibly coming next year. My only doubt is have they sorted the faulty alternator problem. Scores of customer’s RS6s sit in Audi dealership not moving because they can’t supply and fit new ones for months.
Joe, lovin the vocation pleased to see you're true to "the honesty club" this and your GT3 touring were outstanding both my top two gaurage candidates! Keepin it real my brother
Joe is it comfortable ? U compere everything to M3. For example i didn’t order M3 because i don’t like the way it drives and its not V8. RS6 was always comfort than speed in comfort than dynamic where M5 is dynamic, speed than comfort. U made nice video about M550i. Is it more like M5 or rather M550i in terms of comfort and dynamic ?
Cannot speak for the RS6 Performance but the “standard” RS6, even on DRC springs is much more comfortable than the M5 comp (pre-LCI) that I owned. Your descriptions of the two is very accurate in my opinion. The M5 feels quicker and more immediate but it is also louder in the cabin and considerably firmer. The M5 is a better driver’s car but the RS is a better family car. They’re either side of a very fine line and both are at the extreme edge of most scales (pace, price, luxury etc), I.e. both are amazing.
I really liked this car at the dealership. It looks amazing. However when the dealer started the car I couldn’t hear anything resembling a big turbo powered V8 motor capable of delivering 600+ hp. The excitement is disconnected from the driver’s cabin. The exhaust sounds like a mile away from the rear end. I suspect it’s super quiet and efficient for high speed driving and long distance but where’s the fun? I was left a bit puzzled by comparison to my old F10 M5 which sounded and felt more raw and beastly. Not sure if the Audi can improve with an aftermarket exhaust or intake or anything. Liven it up a bit from a “feeling” point of view.
Opf filters and several modern sound restrictions have come into place (from bent politics) since your F10 was produced, it's the same with all manufacturers! You can buy aftermarket exhausts that help the situation.
And they would tell you to politely get your wallet out for the additional £1200 or so it would cost them to change the tyres, or else go forth and take what you’re given ! Manufacturers always have exemption clauses in the buying contract that the car may not come with a specific tyre and a substitute brand/type may be fitted.
Car wow race was so setup race. It's obvious that they launched both M5 CP and E63S without launch control just to hype up the car community. The RS6 Performance figures with a 0-60 is far of M5 CP for example that does it in 2.8. It might have improved from the standard car but there is nothing they can do to match it's straight line performance with a M5 unless they crank the HP much higher than 635
ive got a 22 rs6. the brakes don't get better. I had to change the ceramic pads out to get any sort of feel, but even then, it's pretty bad. not just the power, but the feel and ability to modulate is pretty lousy.
Did you get MTM or Audi CCBs? I wanted to do to my 23 but I checked and the calipers are are different between CCBs and Steel. Why???? One would think pad and rotors would only need to be changed but I guess the CCBs are a tad bigger. Plus I think you need to change the brake booster and/or proportioning valve.
I.C.E. production cars (let alone some even faster E.V.s) have such ridiculous 0 to 60 times compared with previously. Back in the day, the A.C. Shelby Cobra had a 0 to 60 time of 4 seconds before it spun off and killed you and that was a 500bhp car of 1150kg. In 2000 only stripped out track cars could beat 3 seconds. I guess that tyres have a lot to do with it but daft really.
Sorry Joe, I didn’t enjoy watching you doing 300kmh on a dual carriageway with no clearance lane between you and everyone else doing 100 to 130 Kmh, legal as it may be and with good road conditions.
I can't afford either the M3 touring or this rs6. BUT if I woke up tomorrow morning after my marmite on toast and I opened the curtain looked at my drive and saw my MK4 golf sitting there all sad. I would know I didn't win LLFs prize draw tonight for either of them 🤣🤣
Great video Joe, fast estates are so cool as you know 😎 Love my G31 B5 Touring - similar proposition to the RS 6, but a bit more under radar. This RS 6 sounds great out of the box!
If you want an under the radar stealthy, uber fast, refined and comfortable wagon, no one does it better than Alpina. But if you want sound, sharpness and "get out of my way" presence, this RS 6 is king!
I love the looks! But had a 2020 A7 and it was so poorly built and worse, the Audi network were worse! So I won’t buy one! That said, I have a 2018 E63S and it’s never gone wrong, Better car, better service, better care! Audi, never ever again!
You're a braver man than me sticking your wipers on down the Autobahn 😂😂 My friend had a 2014 RS6 and before that thr old V10 engined version. Both absolute weapons and still two of the best cars he's ever owned amongst the dozens he's had. Hell of a car. Top review as always 💪
Nice Video.. As Usually. 🙂 Question Joe.. Does this C8 have a Sharper / Directer Steering and a Stiffer Chassis Compared to the C7 RS6 PLUS? And when you Compare both Cars in Terms of Body Style.. Which One Looks more Massive to you? Or is it very Equal?
Cracking vid as always Joe. Saw one of these in a showroom the other day & they have a real presence with those wheels. Like the way the vid ended too… nice edit
Always loved the RS6 ever since Layer Cake in the 90’s but I’m a BMW M man and on my 6th M with the current M4 Comp Convertible and can’t see me changing any time soon. But mega impressed with this RS6.
Unique car. Like the Audi Quattro for safety and a comparison of how it works to BMW X-drive is probably in another video. Are both rear biased? Would prefer the previous model RS6 without sound proofing removed, that’s a ridiculous way to save weight. Usually the bonnet becomes carbon fibre and the roof too, but I like the panoramic roof you can’t have with a carbon fibre roof. Does it drift at high speed on an autobahn: Is it safe and stable and not going to take off.
Great to have met you down at Silverstone this weekend and thanks for taking the time to chat. I'll definitely be watching everything you have here on your channel 👌
Local dealer has a unit in transit. I have a Merc GT53 with low kms. The 8 cylinder sure is appealing again. Anyway I will have a look . Comments appreciated.
Have they improved the downshift on this car? I had the 2021 RSQ8 and a 2020 R8. They both were slow to downshifted unless you matted the gas pedal. My current BMW X5M Competition is so much better.
There’s nothing better than a fast estate in my opinion. Although this Audi really impresses me on the mechanical and performance side, it exterior design is to shouty, a bit over the top to my liking (that rear diffuser for instance, yikes). I prefer my G31 B5 Alpina, similar performance (200+ mph), less sharp but better on normal roads and everyday driving and way more subtle in the looks department
Yes the new M3 Touring may be a bit quicker than the RS6 but there’s something about the RS6 which makes it special. I owned an A4 Quattro which I had remapped and that was a dream to drive, so can only imagine what the RS6 is like. Doubt I’ll ever have the cash to find out.
An RS6 performance should have carbon ceramics as standard, especially as Audi emphasises weight saving so much. I have them on my non-performance 2022 RS6 and they are worth every single cent.
