LG's OLED TVs from the past few years are a game changer (pun intended) for all different mediums. TV, Gaming, Movies, Streaming... it does it all, and it does it very well. LG OLED is the first Smart TV that truly works as a replacement for a dedicated High Performance Gaming PC monitor.

@poitiers2853
@poitiers2853 3 года назад
Yep. LG is saying that they have to waste too much glass because the way that the glass panels are cut there's less waste and less profit loss cutting larger pieces. I say fine. There will be other TV manufacturers that will eventually take the leap to 32" and 27" OLED's where there's a huge market even if those prices need to be marked-up to make profits. Aside from the much needed smaller OLED display size, there's a significant majority that have been waiting for years to get a glossy monitor, and this will be the only way to do it.

I am about to buy a LG G1 55 inch OLED as my PC monitor, which I am led to believe will be the BEST possible display for me (it won "best gaming award" by loads of reviews like T3 in 2021), now that screen burn is no longer an issue and this model is 20% brighter EVO OLED, with all the features I could want: true 4K gaming at 120Hz at 10 bit colour, 1ms response time, with full VRR support, Dolby Vision HDR, G-Sync Compatible, Freesync (Premium), Instant Game Response (VRR/ALLM), and four HDMI 2.1 sockets. I've been gaming on a LG C9 65" for a lil over a year now, its an amazing experience to say the least. My only complaint about it is the pixel shift which is implemented to eliminate burn in. I got a PS5 and I also have some HDMI modded Consoles, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 64 and a Sony PS2 with a Retrotink 5X-Pro and all these older consoles look and perform great with my LG OLED TV. I'm actually going to upgrade to the 83" C1 if it goes on sale during black Friday. The burn in deal has definitely improved big time over the 2016 models which I also own a 65" LG OLED E6 and that one has the (CN) for cartoon network burned in to the bottom right side screen. It's only visible when the screen is solid gray but you can't see it at all with regular content. The C9 has some added features to help prevent that from happening vs the 2016 to 2018 models and the newer C1 is even better with that.

TV manufacturers don't believe that consumers will use it, due to the lack of display port on almost all home theater gear and game consoles. Thus, they don't even try to implement it. Displaying 4k at 120 hz with HDR is nothing new to us PC gamers. But to everyone else, it's like some kind of miracle. I wish that display port to HDMI adapters were reliable, so I could convert my old RTX 2060 to HDMI 2.1. But alas, I'll be holding off for a big longer.

How is it that that center speaker is untouched? We had to cover all our speakers from our little one cause he kept poking in the dust caps..

Would this TV suffer burn-in if you use it for games with static UI's or the Windows desktop for too long? I'm curious how far they've come in dealing with this problem.

My concern is image retention, and how long is technology will stay relevant. When you're buying a TV that is the price of a really nice used car, you want to know that it's going to be good for five or more years.
@damientech88
@damientech88 3 года назад
Totally overblown issue. I gamed on a plasma for 10 years and the image retention after that was negligible... and OLED is much more resistant than plasma.

I don't think its worth $3K+. I got the the 55in LG C9 for $800. Modded with the the latest firmware, it also has the full 48Gbps HDMI2.1 spec. Some cards (nVIDIA) were having issues on the CX models because they use color compression (SOC) and a cut down 40Gbps port. HDR was definitely out of the question though, i've seen nothing but positive feed back on the newer drivers.,,,,,,,,fun fact. AMD's Polaris cards and up support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate).
