I'm not impressed in the review of this Klom Pro Electric Pick Gun, which I categorize as junk in my conclusion. Terrible!

Couldn't agree more on this one Hence the reason why you wont find it on UKLP ! We should do a page for "banned crap"

UK Lockpickers yes you should, I would love to see the list and convincing reasons why it is banned and why not even a tight budget person who wants to experiment with a cheap version should consider it because it's a waste of money or the only reason to consider it.

I've had two of these pick guns and use them daily in my locksmith business for years and I would consider it one of the best electric pick guns I have used. Not only does it work well, but it holds a charge with normal use for 2-3 days between charging when other brands and styles I have tried needed charging after every shift. In this review the second head was referred to as a "screwgun". This is actually the head for using the included tubular lock picks, not for use as a screwdriver. I have owned two of these exact units and never had a problem interchanging the heads and locking them in place when they were actually lined up correctly. When you reviewed the tension screw for the pickhead you complained that it always loosened itself up. There is a set screw on the face of the head that you turn with the included allankey and it locks that tension adjuster in place. I have not once ever had it come loose during normal use. I agree that the included picks were not as hardened as some other replacement picks but they did last me for a while before requiring replacement. As I mentioned, I use this gun daily to pick all kinds of pin tumbler locks and its been awesome, in my opinion. Many of the negative things pointed out in this review appear to simply be a lack of knowledge on how the product works and how to use it (or even what the enclosed parts are actually for). Just thought I would share a different opinion of this product as a long-time user of it.

Bill had ZERO idea how to use the gun, what each piece of the actual gun did or even what the tips did. He showed so much boomerism in this video I had to pause it from cringing too much before it was over. Really disappointing because I’m a fan but this “review” was a joke. He had his mind made up that this was a cheap Chinese piece of junk before he opened the case and he wanted to make a video to prove it, so he did. Most of his complaints in this video are due to his lack of understanding how the gun even works and it’s a shame that he leaves this up influencing those new to the sport not to purchase it. 🤷‍♂️

That's really unfortunate bill. I had this for 2 years when I started as a locksmith (bought from the UK not china) and I had absolutely no problems with it. Both the heads fit. The bounce screw worked. There also a grub screw at the front to secure it. (Well should be) the pick heads used to last me (bought 1 extra set in 2 years) and as for opening. Granted it doesn't open locks as quick as my Martin pinks gen 4. But it did open the locks. It even got me through 3 star cylinders and even an evva eps modular (no pins. Just sidebars)

Yeah he is totally over looked this thing this by far is an amazing product for one he shouldn't have bought it off eBay cause he paid way too much and got a broken gun I paid like seventy bucks for a new one and that was with like three day shipping or something included but mine wasn't broken it came with the us electrical adapter the black piece that he said he doesn't know what it's for is to lock the cylinder in place because you twist it on its so it doesn't back off I admit the tips that come with it are crap but you can make your own with a steel hack saw blade and a Dremel it you have a daft hand I guess plus he has the pick head on upside down the adjuster knob should be pointed down wards not up or you're gonna have to hold the gun upside down lol he really did this gun and injustice cause it's a great product five stars even if it is from China :/

The adjustment screw is fixable with the allen key to tighten up the little screw in the front. The losening pickholding screw works well with some loctite. So the function is given and you can work with and adjust it. But you're right, it's freaking loud

Why do I see tons of videos of people who know how to use it and they open locks with this so easy and yet you don't know so many things about how to use this device? They know how to use the lock for the drill part they know what the slide button on the side is for they know pretty much everything you couldn't figure out on it and why it does what you can't figure out why it does a certain thing.... it's actually one of the best budget Electric lock openers.
@NoctisMotus
@NoctisMotus 6 лет назад
You can stop the loosening of the screw that adjusts the upward and downward limits of the picking element. On the front of the unit you'll see a threaded hole that takes a set screw. Tighten up that set screw a bit and the problem is solved. Tighten it up even more to lock in the setting tight and permanent. It had me wondering for a second or two when I first got to play with one of these. Apparently the motor is known to burn out quickly also..

just got one of these as a spare for £33.45 from Banggood i agree with Bill they are plastic and not comparable to quality guns and i have a top of the range Wendt full kit BUT they do work well and if you tighten the allen screw on the front of the head once you have your bounce set which Bill did not do the adjusting screw does not move at all and the thing works fine i tried it on 5 different locks and got very quick openings on all

I shall take your "it's soft" with a pinch of salt as the previous KLOM picks that you reviewed as "junk" were just as good and "hardened steel" as Mad Bob picks for ten times the price. I still watch your channel but I have been jaded by that experience and others. Try to keep it honest rather than what the "mainstay", ie expensive pick suppliers would like to hear. Cheers Schnuz.

Hate to point it out to someone as experienced as you Bill, but you have the vibration head the wrong way up! When picking the pins facing an upwards direction, the adjustment screw should be on the bottom of the head. This then allows for fine adjustment to the vibration strength. With the head the other way up, the arm can swing freely away from the rotating armature, thus effectively separating the head from rotating spindle. The screw has a small hex bolt in the front fascia of the head, that allows you to lock off the adjustment screw. Sounds like a bit of an unfair review, as I have had no issues using the Klom Pro electric gun. I would recommend investing in some better quality needles and attachments, most are interchangeable with the Klom gun. Hope this helps.... I can't wait for Mad Bob to introduce their own electric tools. They'd get my money!

They probably use soft metal so that you won't damage the key pins or the inside of the lock in anyway and do not accidentally open the lock while using the tool and then you can later discard all your broken tips into the trash can. Haha.
@hannesmorgenroth7149
@hannesmorgenroth7149 6 лет назад
Bill I agree with all your other videos, but this one is a big exception. Sure the needles are crap, they work for some pick-sessions, than they break. But: -you can silence that gun with some cottonwool inside the head - the bearing-spring mechanism prevents the needle to destroy the whole lock in seconds like I have seen it on my multipick gun, because there is only downward force, no upward force - the whole gun is very small and good to handle. -the battery lasts for hours -you can change the force to the pins by simply pushing the needle a bit more downwards=bearing is pushed more towards the rotation shaft=more force to the needle/pins So if you buy some quality needles like petersons or by brokhage, attache an extra screw to the tip(where you fasten the needle), remove the left/right button(not necessary, just in your way), and screw down that spring to maximum you have a better pick gun than those 200-500€ lock-eating ones.
@bosnianbill
@bosnianbill 6 лет назад
Hannes Morgenroth We all have different experiences and perceptions so I would never expect everyone to agree with 100% of my conclusions, and I appreciate the time you took to details yours. My experience with this lock pick gun extends back 3-4 years before making this video. I bought one for myself but didn't have a good experience with it. Yes, the needles are junk, but we can't expect those to last forever. I replaced mine with Peterson government steel needles. My main problem was with the electric motor failing. After having it for about a year it started working intermittently, then finally failed. I wasn't using it every day,or even every week, but after less than 10 total hours of run time, the motor died entirely. When I opened the case the internal workmanship wasn't very good. This new review item, at least externally, was identical to my discarded one. I think most people that buy these may not use them as regularly as I do, but feel that 10 hours until failure is not acceptable. I got what I paid for tho. I later bought a SouthOrd E500XT as a replacement and have used it for several years with no problem whatsoever. Yes, it cost $150, but you know the saying: Buy Once, Cry Once. I have not regretted the decision.

It's a cheap electric drill with a few modifications to make it a pick gun. Hence you also get the drill adapter. This is also why there is a switch to change between left, right and off (if it doesn't work try that first). I've got one of these and my drill adapter is a bit fiddly to get on, but it's possible and the button to lock the shaft works too. The tab on the side of bills pick gun seems to miss a spring, if functional it locks the adapter. I bought my pick gun some time ago, maybe i got lucky (or bill unlucky), at least mine didn't have production issues. The design flaws were pretty much pointed out by Bill, i'd add, that even if one can put on the drill adapter i wouldn't trust it with any heavy duty work due to the flimsy power transmission to the adapter. A general advice to hobbyists concerning pick guns: these things are noisy, so you should think first where/when you can train with these and not disturb neighbours.

Great review. I bought one about 5 months ago, and found out about needing the Euro adapter right away. Had to go to Wallyworld to get one. The drill head works on mine, and I actually used it to drill out a broken key in one of my padlocks. My setscrew doesn't back out, but yeah, it's not worth the price they ask for one. If you really need a good electric pick gun, this Klom EPG isn't it. Try a German made one. Costs more, but way better. I lost much of my hearing by being exposed to jet engines, and gunfire so the noise doesn't bother me much😂, It is very loud. The soft picks bend like crazy, but I haven't broken one yet. Admittedly I don't use it much anymore. It did open quite a few locks, but I expected the machine to stop working at any moment, and most of the locks were easy to open anyway. Save your money for something better. I will not be entering this one as I already have this pile of crap gathering dust in my apartment. 😂😂😂

Hi Bill. Just a suggestion (my opinion actually...lol) but I think you should return it. If the seller won't issue a refund, start a credit card fraud action. It does not do what it is supposed to do so technically you did not receive what you paid for. Use the money from the return to buy something good/useful. There is no point in giving this piece of poo to somebody and paying for shipping too. A better use for this money is starter (new picker) pick kits or everyday carry sets. Re-pinable locks for learning would be another good option. I just hate to see the money going for junk to collect dust at some poor "winner's" house. beating on the outer race of a small ball bearing seems like an effective way to get the bearing to disintigrate.

I would like to try it anyway. Just for the experience.

Thank you for the review, if only it was done 6 months ago or before I got my piece of crap klom. I actually received the power invertor with mine also, doesn't make it any less crappy though!

You have to drill out the key slot so the pick has enough clearance to work, haha

Even for EU plugs this is wallwart is wrong, it misses the obligatory angle. Not a huge detail, but even the cheapest aliexpress dealers get it right since 2-3 years....

dude you really are a noob at knowing what does what??? it's self explanatory, you just need to have eyes and hands. then everything is mechanical, no need to be Einstein. this drill/pick gun is really good, you need to practice with love not with hate. maybe you'we got a faulty piece, but that doesn't qualify as all the products to be junk, and you should have chose the US charger type, i bet you didn't pay any attention there either. (and another thing, if you know how to open it, then i would advice to remove the 2 LED's cause they eat out the battery as well, really there is no need for those there, maybe a led in the front so you can see at night ? :D )

I bought one of these a couple of years ago off Amazon. 10 minutes after opening the box I re packaged it and sent it back to Amazon as 'not fit for purpose' and got a refund. Total junk.
