You should see my drawer full of vizbigs I've already replaced haha. I have like 6 on the shelf I need to replace and I have like 7 more in a drawer that I've already replaced. It's honestly god awful quality control on the glue binding. I promise I'm not man handling these books haha
Love the manga, love the anime. Just come back already Togashi!! This current arc could easily become my favorite one. I just want my 10 more chapters, dammit
I display my manga like they do at the bookstore with some of the manga showing the covers, I chose my favorite covers of each manga series I have. My mangas are my pride and joy
@@konankid2340 well, yes, but american money is worth more. Anyways, I did the base math, as a Canadian. Here, manga are usually around $12 CAD, so at the very minimum, from the base line the creator of the video gave of 1250 manga, let's say it's 12 × 1250. That's equivalent to *$15,000 CAD. If I were to convert it, that would be roughly $11,000 USD.* I have a few dozen manga, and it does add up, but wow.
@@ctrlzme.6448 im pretty sure a weeb is a non-japanese person with an obsession of japan. and an otaku is anyone who enjoys watching anime/reading manga/playing video games. or at least those are the original definitions. meaning tends to change as slang grows in popularity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It’s coming out in about half a month anyway, though the Re:Zero anime still has a Long Long way to go before it’s done, even the web novel is just over half way complete and it’s on it’s 463rd ridiculously long chapter
It really is. I've actually only watched the anime (oopsie), but Yona had some of the absolute best character development and progression I've seen. Not only that, but I remember absolutely loving the dynamic between Hak and Yona, and I absolutely love how Su-Won is seemingly the primary antagonist, but as the series progresses (at least to where i got)his actions can seem somewhat justified. Man, after talking about it I may just have to finally pick up the books and get past where the anime left off
Well, I promise I don't manhandle them haha. Maybe in recent time Viz has gotten better? Or maybe I just have terrible luck? Either way I'm glad you don't have to fork out a ridiculous amount of money all things considered just to get a volume that doesn't fall apart.
I'm a simple man. I hear a bunch of jojo praise, i collect the series. I really need to get around to like.... reading that series though. but its sooooo long
I have a big list but some of them include 20th Century Boys Berserk Hunter x Hunter Vagabond Monster One Piece Kaguya-sama: Love is War Attack on Titan Domestic Girlfriend Blue Spring Ride That list isn't really in any particular order but when I was thinking of favorite those are some series that come to mind.
Kymmru Man, I’ve read only four of those, but they are definitely among my all time favorites, so I’ll catch up on the rest as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for sharing this list!
Haha thank you! No promises, I don't really feel like much of a video maker. The only thing I have in mind is making an updated collection video every 6 months or so, so i can see how my collection changes and grows a
@@Kymmru :O Yes! Yes! Yes! The series really gets better part after part in both art plot and stands hehe. Its nice seeing someone else w same intrests thats why i found this vid rlly cool :>
I've been collecting for over 5 years now, probably even closer to 10 in all honesty. Its okay if a collection starts out small, everyone's does, and it doesnt grow overnight. As long as your passion for anime and manga stays with you over the years I'm sure your collection will look like mine half a decade from now
@@yum396 it's a good start, One Piece is a great series! However, if you want to collect all of One Piece in the long run, I'd highly recommend saving up the money for the box sets. I know it can be a lot of money at once, but if you plan to collect it all eventually it will save you money in the long run. Plus you get some neat bonuses
I have a collection of about 50 books which costed me about 400 quid. So if I just use my stash as an example then it’d be 25 x 400= 10,000. All in all he’s probably spent about 10 grand on it, could be higher or lower, take my estimation with a pinch of salt. (Might I also add I calculated it in pound Sterling , and as I’ve recent found out manga is slightly cheap in the uk).
I mean, yeah. I don't read or speak Japanese, but you don't have to in order to see some glaring issues with Dark Horse's release. www.skullknight.net/images/gambino-print.jpg I mean that is a pinnacle example of it. Dark Horse, a multimillion-dollar company failed to scan pages of comics correctly. And when they released it in a "deluxe" edition they leave the same glaring issues. A company as big as Dark Horse shouldn't be fucking up that bad where you lose that much detail in panels, it's laughable. And there are other issues too, like this: imgur.com/le8ZnWj Dark Horse implementing one of the worst ways I have ever seen a manga company translate SFXs- covering up Miura's art with giant boxes like that. And again when they had a chance to fix it in a "deluxe" edition they just leave it as is. And then when it comes to the translation, yeah some things haven't aged the best. I mean Band of the Hawk was always supposed to be Band of the Falcon. Griffith has always been symbolised as a Falcon, but the translation always leaned to Hawk. And then halfway through the series they start cherry-picking which stuff to translate to falcon, and which to hawk. I mean at the start of the 4th arc they were translating the title to Hawk of the Millenium Empire, and then after a few chapters, they started to translate it to Falcon of the Millenium Empire, leaving the inconsistencies in the manga. And then there are little things like leaving beherit in as " behelit." It's just the tiny things that add up over time and make me realize if they did even a little bit of research or cared a lot of my grievances wouldn't exist. Mind you though I don't think the translations are neccessarily bad, but almost every single "deluxe" edition in recent time has done updated translations but Dark Horse chooses the easy way out of throwing the pdfs of the series they already have into bigger format.
Kymmru I completely agree with you, berserk is my favorite series and while it doesn’t kill the story or anything and luckily they leave the art as is, it’s like hawk or falcon just pick one and stick to it it’s not that hard. I know it’s wrong and for the english audience but at least zoro is zolo the whole time in the english manga of one piece but yeah for such a great series berserk deserves better. Also thanks for the info because I own the whole berserk series too and I was about to pick up the deluxe’s.
@Midgetwithahacksaw good idea, I heard that miura’s preferred format for his manga is 8x10 so I think that’s the way to go but I already owned the series when the deluxe’s came out
@@jasonrinaldi1670 well, to be fair, all those issues exist in the singles too. In the end the deluxe edition is still a gorgeous hardcover and the two-page spreads have never looked better.
one of my favorite manga to read lately is called “Ryuko” it’s a 2 volume series meaning it’s short but I really enjoy it, I re read it a bunch of times, it’s very underrated I hope more people check it out
I went ahead and put it on my wishlist, no promises I will check it out though. Although given its only two volumes so I may be inclined to just buy them in next months haul and get around to it eventually.
bro the day kingdom gets published in english all of my savings are going down the drain lol. And I also partially agree with you on the berserk deluxe editions, I have 2 of them and compared to the normal volumes they just supersized it with good paper quality. I still think it's a good release though, seeing as they cost like the same as 3 normal volumes so the value is at least good.
Yeah with the Deluxe Editions I really wished for a new translation, better scan quality, some color pages. I feel as though Dark Horse is going to release Volumes 12,13,14 in the Deluxe Editions as is with their absolutely terrible way of translating SFX with the SFX literally covering some of the art. Just thinking about it peeves me so much. They are still the definitive way to collect Berserk now though without a doubt. And yeah, I really realllllly don't understand why English publishers are sleeping on Kingdom. It's constantly one of the highest-selling manga in Japan and I constantly see so much interest from English fans.
i love this collection! usually when i watch manga tours the women usually just have romance or slice of life with jjba for a little bit of spice and the guys don't have shoujo or anything like it with the exception of your name (which i can't really hate on because obviously they buy what they want to read) but you seem to have a good mix of everything!
I feel the same exact way about Kingdom, it is my favorite, really wish they had it out in English. I've only read about 5-6 mangas. Currently reading Berserk now, I'm on the first deluxe edition.
I haven't even read Kingdom yet cause I'm holding out on an English release. With how big it is, it really doesn't make sense why there's no English release yet.
Man this collection has me drooling! I only have 10 so far with very limited space so your collection is a dream! Love all the titles btw you have amazing taste 👌
Wow I love to watch ppls manga sets It’s kinda cool idk y Idk if u have reviewed like ALL ur manga that would be cool to see ur POV on how much u like it and the plot(I’m trying to build my own manga collection but I’m still in skl and have little money) Anyways do u have any manga recommendations, things that stood out to u???
I think my top 5 manga always stays the same and I'd recommend to any and all readers. 1. 20th Century Boys 2. Berserk 3. Hunter x Hunter 4. Vagabond 5. Monster
Kymmru sorry this reply is late but hunter x Hunter is amazing as an anime and manga and I also can’t wait to get it. Can’t wait to get a collection like urs 1 day😄
@@lilzem I just can't wait for Togashi to release more chapters!! This current arc (I won't say much in case if you've only watched the anime) is so damn interesting! It has me so gripped and I count on 10 chapters a year at least and without it I feel like a junkie in a withdrawal lol
Kymmru I have almost caught up with the latest chapter. The arc doesn’t interest me that much to be honest however I am looking forward to see what happens next. Also recently I was reading AOT and I was so surprised at what Eren did so do u think it will end as a disaster for him? I am honestly so sad cause after all his hard work he just flushed it down the toilet as though it were 💩. It’s so sad!!!
@@lilzem Dang really!??? This has easily been my favorite arc in Hunter x Hunter history, it's just sad it has such a slow release. And I honestly feel AOT is going to end in tragedy of some sort at least. But I guess we will have to wait to find out
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I remember the first vizbig that fell apart on me. I think it was volume 2 of Vagabond. I was in the middle of reading it and it just collapsed in my hands.
Honestly, I think current Attack on Titan is a modern masterpiece. Maybe the first little bit is slightly overrated but I think it was neccessary to build the story that Isayama has created
i dont really understand. what do you mean "even tho" ? it's true that a lot of crap is popular but, most of the time, it's because something is good that it's popular isnt it ?
TG 125 6 chapters left, but I do think it will be a shocking, hopefully good finale. SPOILER👇🏻 I don’t care if everyone dies, I just want Levi to kill Zeke before it ends.
"I treat them very nicely" *proceeds to flip and hold up the book in unusual manner, then drop it.* lol. But I agree the spine glue is bad. I had to reapply glue on a couple of them (Not as bad as yours mind you) and they still hold up. I see a lot of other paperback large omnibus / 3-1 having the same issue. Ideally this should be a hardcover similar to Berserk Deluxe Edition, It's too many pages for a paperback. It's a reason they are cheaper compared to single volumes (granted Vagabond and other VIZBIGs are OOP). I think 2-in-1 is the sweetspot for paperback with Monster / 20th Century Boys as examples. Great collection man!
I have IKEA Billy Bookcases. Highly recommend. They are nice, expandable up to I think 6 or 7 shelves, are deep enough to double stack. Sturdy. I feel they are the best bookcases for collections. The other cheaper ones are cheap for a reason, everything else seems too expensive.
I'm just starting off my manga collection, I always just borrowed manga from a library before covid (for the most part) so now that I have to purchase it I am finding out it is actually really existing to own the books yourself, I hope one day I can have a awesome collection now so that's what made me click the video
Yes! I actually tend to watch more anime than I read manga. I collect more manga than anime though. Usually, for me, it goes something like this 1. Watch a good anime 2. Find out its source material is a manga or a light novel 3. Collect that source material 4. No source material? Collect the anime 5. The anime improves upon the manga? (which i find to be exceedingly rare), collect the anime for it as well. I always hope anime get perfect adaptation (i.e. Kimetsu no Yaiba) because anime just ends up being more accessible and will usually bring a series to the popularity it deserves, or let the series die if it's done poorly.
It would be great if you made a series of videos recommending manga, or just talking about it! In any case I'm excited to see how the collection evolves during time, great vid
The way he says that you have to read or watch Hunter x Hunter “if you haven’t experienced either the manga or the anime you’re doing yourself a disservice” It’s adorable
When did u begin collecting manga ? I would like to get into collecting LN/Manga too but they are damn expensive with shipping from Japan. I want the original pieces that's why from Japan.
I started to collect manga I believe 8 years ago? I started with Naruto 3in1s because that was nearly about the only anime I watched and I loved it, afterwards came Death Note 2in1s and everything came trickling in from there. Personally speaking I wouldn't recommend collecting Japanese volumes unless if you can read them just because unlike a lot of other collecting hobbies, manga typically doesn't grow in value although theres always exceptions. Then again that's just my opinion and you can do whatever you wish
Damn what a cool collection! I could only dream of having one like this! I stopped collecting like 12 years ago and am slowly back to it. The new SJ logo bothers me though because I have some older volumes from death note, naruto one piece etc that just look out of place with the newer prints.
Here's a tip from me: I personally never asked for permission - I bought mangas with my pocket money and put them in my desk drawer and later on a shelf. It took them a few years to find out that I had some mangas. Then I said I had gotten it from my friends over the years ;D
I absolutely loved it. When I first got it, I bought the first 3 volumes and read them nonstop. I bought the rest immediately after, but couldn't wait for them to come in so I stayed up till like 4am to read the rest online which I hate doing.
Spoilers for those who didn't read it Firstly, I was interested in the anime, cause it looked very different. But never watched it. Then I came across the manga and said "heck, I'm gonna read this". The first half (his childhood revolving in that town) was pretty weird to me, like I was asking myself "wtf am I reading?" but the drama and all those cliffhangers at the end of every chapter made me go on. It was then that the second half (moving out of the town, high school) really did it for me. If it wasn't for that 2nd half, I've have considered that manga trash, but I'm so glad I kept reading it. That ending is sooo good.
When did you start collecting manga and stuff? I started pretty recently and every time I see another person’s collection I feel like I have shit taste lol 😂
It's been nearly a decade like I believe it's been 8 years? I collected before I got a job with the small amount of allowance I got and then I wanted to get a job specifically to collect more manga. And it's all right, everyone's tastes change and grow
@@Kymmru hi, i'm planning to start collecting manga, how do you recommend me ti start, collecting severa volumes of one particular series or a few volumes of multiple series?. Thank you in advance
This is the best organised manga/ln library I have ever seen. It just feels so pleasing to the eye, and not to be weird or anything, but paired with your soothing voice just makes this video extremely mesmerising.
i rather see a 1 hour video of you explaining every little detail, why you own it and why you like it of all manga that you own than a 10 min video just showing your collection
Thank you! And yeah one of my biggest peeves in manga collection videos are people going off-topic and taking forever to get to the point. I try to cut out all the BS and let the comments be the place to talk about series.
Dang fella, impressive collection. I find it funny whenever I go through these videos that I realize I’ve only read about 2%, so far I’ve only read from my personal best to least: Elfin Lied, Komi Can’t Communicate, Rent-A-Girlfriend, 5 centimeters per second, and Tomie.
I've been loving Rent-A-Girlfriend so much. I absolutely despised it at first, I actually dropped it which I almost never ever drop series. But then the anime came out and I gave it another chance and I fell in love and caught up to the manga within a couple of days.
@@onedaysoon5351 I definitely feel like if I gave it a reread I would have a bigger appreciation for it. I'm just waiting to do that until all the volumes release in english so I can read it all with the official translation.
@@Kymmru I understand. I just looked like you casually yeheeted it open like that. But it is wierd they break on ypu like that. I have 13 vizbigs and they are all great. Never heard of others that had that problem, at least to that exctent.
@@Yunhotrash Yeah, it sucks man. I just got 6 more VIzbigs yesterday and 2 of the 6 already tore at the spine. I was trying to replace 3 Vagabond volumes and 3 ruruoni kenshin volumes and 2 of the Kenshin volumes glue already separated from the spine almost like that Vagabond volume. Sigh, hopefully after i get these last two kenshin volumes replaced I don't have to bother with vizbigs for a long while cause this has been a terrible experience for me thus far.
You are putting alot of us manga collectors to shame, but i can say i am proud of having read about all of the stuff shown in the video, except for Naruto and Dragon Ball that i have to get into sometime
Just remember most collections this large are built up over a large time frame. Not to make it sound discouraging but rather encouraging. No one who is sane should buy this much manga in just a couple years, try to space it out and start with the series you reallly love.
Lol I know. I don't get why so many people take their time on manga vids. I just want to the COLLECTION, not the opinions. haha. I feel nearly alone in that
I have it, but haven't gotten around to reading it. Idk what I'm waiting for haha, maybe more volumes? I've just always heard that series ranked as one of the best LNs so I wanted to give it a go when it started releasing over in the west
@@Kymmru the LN is finished its honostly one of the best isekais out there really try reading the manga thats how i got the motivation even tho i dont really read LN at all but after reading the manga it hooked me in so bad its so gud. so read the manga and if you like it continue with the LN its a masterpiece in the world of isekai genre
Wow... just wow. Awesome video. Just purchased my 100th manga into my own collection LoL gotta start somewhere. Half of the manga in my collection I've read online but as you quickly stated in your video: "I want to support the authors." Which is why I am purchasing alot of manga ive already finished in the past. Also I feel they're timeless relics and hopefully my future kids will get into it and maybe even add to the collection themselves
Yeah, I should probably at least do an updated collection vid sometime soon. But also a decent amount of manga I've ordered is on backstock, presumably because of covid-19 so I also kinda wait until I get it in
Like 7ish years ago, I was watching collection videos and thinking the exact same thing. As long as you continue to enjoy collecting and reading manga it starts adding up over time
coming from someone who also collects manga and anime you're collection good sir is incredible and it makes me want to work more hours so I can achieve something like this
