Turning an 11 inch Red Cedar blank to a bowl. Prepping the surface with Yorkshire Grit after sanding and finishing with two coats of Finishing Paste Wax. After many questions about where to find Yorkshire Grit I have included links below.

I like watching woodworking vids on YT. Very satisfying seeing someone turn a chunk of wood into a piece of art. Yet your vids stand out, Stephen. Hey Stephen, I just watched your video on this large cedar bowl. You really turned a beautiful piece! I especially appreciated your monologue; it was quite educational about cedar and it’s peculiar characteristics. I’m a new wood turner, just about three months now. I’m have contracted ALS and am a little over a year in my diagnosis. This has been very therapeutic for me. Thanks for teaching me some things in this video. 🤗

I've turned several of these red cedar bowls and still have lots of blanks ready to turn, you said something about it being brittle, I haven't noticed that, it turns like clay, just find lots of small cracks, and C.A. glue works good on that. I cut my blanks out the same way except I use a pick instead of a nail, but they make beautiful bowls, I only use polishing grit and bee's wax for the finish, so not to cover the cedar smell !
