Hello fellow firewood fanatics! This is Chris and I'm just letting you all know that I will not be answering any comments for about 10 days, I'm going on a deer hunting trip to South Dakota with my brothers. So play nice while I am gone! There WILL BE a video every day for you to watch so you can get your firewood fix in. Thanks Chris!
Glad to see you back in the wood yard. We've been without power for 5 days courtesy of Zeta. We moved off of the coast of SC to get away from hurricanes and one found us anyway. After 25 years down there, and multiple named storms, we were never out of power this long. The downed trees and power lines in upstate SC and western NC are amazing. Over 400K people without power. One of my nieces had a 80' white oak just barely brush the back of her house as it fell and my best friend had two oaks hit his house. The first one broke the top ridge of his house and the second one busted through the roof and ripped off an exterior wall. No injuries thank goodness. The only upside is that I will have access to more wood that I can stand. Due to the time of year, most deciduous trees had lost their leaves and survived, but the oaks are still full making them prime targets for the wind.
you might have to change your chucking methods and your splitter setup but by letting the wood fall off the edge of the table it would avoid touching it again and you could go a lot faster
I think Chris has done that. I do believe he starts at the end of the pile of rounds and starts splitting and just keeps backing up as it goes off the end.
He gets more efficient toward the end of the video. Letting the split wood fall off the table and not fighting to get the pieces from under the wedge. The next piece will push it out.
Wow, what a ringing endorsement for the Eastonmade Ultra. You are the person Andrew should have given the splitter to instead of Joe Barney. Joe is so belligerent to his customers that I can’t even stand to watch him anymore.
Oh, here we go #drama in the small firewood community lol But I have to agree, I never got how the guy was praised for what he does. I doubt he can maintain his "business" in the next 5-10 years if that. Still might not have been a bad business-move on Eastonmades end, who knows.
I gave up on Joe a couple of months ago. So annoying. Patterns indicate it won't end pretty. His health, aging equipment, booze, gambling, working 2 hour days, his public display of political leanings, his attitude, his public display of opinions of his customers, his use of emergency delivery fee's, .......I would guess many of his subs hang around to just see how it all ends
Chris love the channel, you have quite the business there. Like the speed of the splitter, I'm not a fan of the 4 way wedge seems to create more kindling or junk. Keep rollin brother. Stay safe and stay positive ❤
Even though the ultra is awesome, I could certainly see how the next step of splitters might be worth the extra expense. Automatic hydraulics, hydraulic wedge adjustment, the log cradle so you can drop it in and it is automatically be centered on the wedge, and the bigger push block. But that 4 second cycle on the Ultra is awesome!
That's awesome that you're going to get to go deer hunting with your brothers I'll go with mine down in Georgia matter of fact the middle of this month I'll be heading down there cuz that's when the rut starts down there in Georgia congratulations on your logs but are that same is unbelievably fast
@@InTheWoodyard Hunt's season this year's going to have to take a back seat I had a a misfortunate thing happened to today one of my dogs that rides with me all the time in the truck got hit by a car chasing a deer she was 4 years old and I've never had children Chris so I don't know what the two-legged versions are but I've had four-legged ones and these are my children and it's been a pretty rough day for me I'm glad you guys got bucks all of you got your tags filled That's just really great you have a good evening friend talk to you later
That is nice for sure and good luck on the hunting trip have fun and be safe. I feel like you need the axis from eastonmade for your next splitter maybe Andrew will send you one
Greetings from Clinton, Arkansas! WOW WOW WOW! That splitter is a modern marvel for sure. Does the 4 way head adjust up and down or is it stationary? It appears it would be a great advantage when the wood is several different sizes IF it was adjusted by one of the levers up and down. It looks like the cat's MEOW! GREAT DECISION and CONGRATULATIONS!
Mr. Lowrance, yes it does adjust up and down, manually, since this video I have adjusted it to a better height for the wood I'm splitting. Thanks for watching!
Hi Chris!! 😀😀 That thing is definitely worth every penny!!😀😀 Watching you run it is so much better than watching Joe run his. LOL!! The splitting has always been the slow part of the process. Your production is going to increase quite nicely!!😀😀 Take care my friend!! Logger Al
@@jimrichards8703 :) Thank you! I've been logging and cutting firewood all of my life. My dad put a saw in my hands when I was 10 and I have never looked back. I'm 54 years old now and pretty well wore out. LOL!! But I try to pass on as much good info as I can.
Thanks for really showing what that splitter can do. Your effort and it’s speed are a good combo. Happy hunting. Why is it going to take 10 days to hunt. Aren’t those trips set up by the outfitters so the deer walk from their pen right to your tree stand. Lol. I know I’m recking the secret lol
Hello Andrew, I see Chris from the woodyard has an Eastonmade splitter and I, as a you tube watcher thinks it would be good business for you as a smart business man could Help Chris out and maybe take his splitter in on a trade and Help him out with one that has a Log Lift and a wedge lift that he can adjust. Chris has had trouble in the past with his 4 way wedge getting stuck, and had a very hard time getting it unstuck. Chris does not know that I'm telling you this. Chris has a very Big flowing and this would Help you and him both out. Thanks Andrew for your Great Video's on you tube. Chris lives in Wisconsin. Your products are the BEST ! Thank You ! Pull it off the wedge with a chain. nd tell everybody who Irene is, I have known since I was a young boy, and I am 76 now. It,s been a real long time. Goodnight Irene, I mean Chris. I am from Ohio.
There's 1 feature that Andrew and the boys left off that splitter which makes me a bit sad. All (??) the other Eastonmade splitters have the large push plate. The Ultra has has a tiny 4" x 5" (that's a guess) plate which on the larger blocks it allows the blocks to roll back rather than passing through the wedge. I've seen Andrew and others just allow the wood to push itself off the splitter and build up to the point that it pushes the splitter along. It creates it's own windrows if you allow it to do this.
What kind of maple was most of that? Sugar? I'm planning to cut a bunch of Sugar Maple tomorrow. You can definitely run that splitter well! I'm sure you're even better with it now after you've put more hours on it.
@@aldredske6197 I'm just a couple hours southwest - Sauk Co. I'd like to get better at identifying sugar (hard maple) vs other maples (silver/red/black) by the bark. Hoping to grow my campfire wood inventory with some hard maple this fall and winter. Although, I suppose any maple makes decent campfire wood.
Yes! I sell almost all of my wood to people who only burn wood in their fireplace so they want and ask for smaller stuff. I do have some bigger pieces to for people who heat with wood, check out some of the other 180 or so videos and you'll see the whole operation. Thanks for watching Kevin!
@@InTheWoodyard I started to watch #133 and been watching every day since. I've went back to the first video so i am almost caught up I've seen almost every one of your videos so I have 5 left to watch and I will have seen them all. So I have kept up watching every video.
@@kevinmason3086 WOW ! You are doing me a great favor, the more watch time I get the better youtube works for me! Thanks, maybe you need to start over and watch them again! HA!
Chris you could double your production if you set the splitter up so you can let the wood fall off the table. When area is full move splitter a few feet forward. The pieces of wood will fully separate no wrestling all that wood throwing is a waste of time and energy
