The TESMEN TM-510 is a very compact smart digital multimeter. It does not measure current which eliminates the need for fuses and worries that beginners may cause short circuits by having probes in wrong sockets. Together with the fact that the TM-510 is fully auto and does away with any function or range selection makes this meter perfect for household use by folks normally not touching multimeters. It's input resistance is too low for use in electronics and it can't measure any voltages below 0.8V.

What a shame the meter does not have a mode hold function. Looks like the designer had this in mind since the 5 possible modes are printed like touch buttons. Could be easily implemented by pushing the relevant touch button (symbol) - and a second touch to resume smart mode. I would certainly add a series resistor to the beeper to protect my ears and preserve battery life. Don't see missing Current ranges as a problem as this is easy to implement using external parallel resistors. Thanks for the testing !

So you can measure a battery... unless it is below 0.8 V, like an empty one. Lets assume you actually know about this massive issue: Then you are trying to find out if the battery is dead or if there is no connection (corrosion, too small gap, ...). Sounds like a lot of fun, very smart indeed. Did you ask joeqsmith or someone like him on the EEVblog (he is also on youtube) about the 600 V CAT II rating given what we see on the board? Seems to me like that is not exactly a real rating.

I like the idea of "Auto" but there is a law against that: Ohms Law.
