After much walking up and down streams recently I chose to sit in one place for this session at the Car Park Pool at Offord. A great looking swim with what seemed to be a lot of fish bubbling proved to be just as tough as the streams, with the fish not obliging. A few downpours added to the disappointment. But it was relaxing and very peaceful, except when a train went past!

Hello Bob, i used to fish around that area a fews years back. Have you tried going down the road a few yards towards Bucken and fishing the mill stream and the black overfall weir pool ? Nice chub, perch and other fish along the stream. A few minutes walk down to the weir pool there used to be a big schoal of good sized bream with the odd chub, barbel or carp turning up. There may be a small amount of walking involved, it might be worth it though ! Tight lines !

Hi, thank you for tip but if you watch some of my earlier videos, including the immediately previous one (#127), you will see that I usually fish the mill stream. I’ve caught good chub there but have found it a bit more challenging than normal this season. My reason for limiting my walking at the moment is because recovery from a hip replacement in February has been a bit slower than I would have liked. I will certainly be going back to the stream despite its challenges 🎣

Indeed Dave, and there’s always something magical about sitting by a river hoping that something special will turn up while half expecting that it won’t! Although I’ve been struggling this season the Offord club have reported some really impressive catches, so it’s just a matter of sticking at it.

@@BobGoesFishing I went on my club lake at North Weald yesterday morning for a few hours and caught some Carp to 8lb and a number of Roach all good fun

Sounds fun Dave. I'm a bit undecided as to whether to go to a lake given my lack of success on the rivers. Although I'm not going anywhere until this brief hot spell has passed!

Hello Bob, that loks like a nice llittle water, if not a bit tight in those pads, lovely video mate, keep well and safe out . Hope to be on the Thames some time next week, for some Roach on the whip.

Hi Clive, thanks for watching. I’m struggling on the rivers to be honest. That spot fished more like a still water and looked very promising but it wasn’t to be. Hope you have better luck on the Thames.
