This video covers one of my favorite 12ga steel loads for waterfowl hunting. The basis of the load was to try and make a clone of the Winchester xpert snow goose loads.

Recipe:
12ga 3” 1.25oz steel load @ 1440fps:
-3” ched hull
-cx2000 primer
-32.5gr steel powder
-TUPRW123 wad
-5/8oz or 1 shot on bottom & 5/8oz of 2 shot on top
-6pt fold crimp

Great wad. I use it for Duck loads and Lead Buck Shot loads .31 cal pellet size and under. Because it’s a thick wad. It patterns very well.

Their wads are underrated because their load Data is too conservative. It’s the only wad I use in my 10ga for steel.

It works like a charm in my two favorite 10ga loads as well. I’ve only hunted with duplex steel loads now for 3 season in my 10…

I have not yet. I have barely hunter with the 12ga the last 2 seasons. I’ve really become quite partial to the big 10 and 20 gauges. I think I can find some data on a 12ga duplex, though…

@@avidwaterfowler7522 that would be nice. I got something in mind too. 2 3/4 HG load just subbing out some steal with tss. My 12ga is 3 1/2 14000 psi idk if the pressure will jump that high. Logically speaking it should drop, because there is less volume and less friction but still would want anything blowing up in my face. lol

What would be your solution to fill the extra space? Filler in the wad under the shot?

Yea. I used fiber wad. Or you can use csd 100 wad.

Ive played with duplex loads too and small over large patterned better for me too

I’ve tried it with many different mixed shot varieties. I load a lot of 1/2 and 1/B steel for the 10 and got the same results.

Those patterns are terrible my 20ga will beat that with a patternmaster classic long range out to 40yrds

@@jonathanmelanson3257 these are bigger pellets. No, they aren’t perfect, but that’s pretty darn good considering the pellet count. Btw, congratulations on being sold on the biggest gimmick of a choke tube in history. Literally the biggest gimmick in our lifetime. Go look at the channel surviving duck season where he shoots different chokes against a high speed camera. The pattern masters does the complete opposite of the Marketing on the package.

Preciate your video. Ive been messing around duplex loads this year, #3s and 8s (8 TSS) and blue dot. I do like those precision wads, wish I could find something similar to federal flight control wads, or someone to make a flight control wad.

My plan is to start working on tss/steel duplex loads next year. Videos to come! I agree, I have had amazing luck with flight control style wads. I really wish someone would start making them like BPI.

@@avidwaterfowler7522 Any steel load data on a 1.25oz load with blue dot? Ive been sticking to Precision reloading recipe (28gr) and wish I had a but more velocity.
