OK Please explain exactly what a ‘ loyalist ‘ is. Loyal to what. Loyal to whom. Or is it simply expressing loyalty to an old, out of date way of thinking that is anti-Catholic in any way possible. Shout it from the rooftops and march down streets banging a big drum. And if you are confronted … violence. Your only loyalty in my eyes is to holding on tight to hate and divisiveness wherever possible. Parading down known Catholic area or outside a Catholic Church was the icing on the cake. By the way, I am not Catholic or Protestant - just a normal decent living Joe.

Only one accordion band, used to be loads more. Planning to go home next year for the 12th, I haven't been to it for many years, last time I walked to the field and back although don't think I could mange that anymore. My home band Pride of Ardoyne are looking good.

I tend to favor the Nationalist, coming from Nationalist Scots, but I have to admit, I do enjoy watching the parades of the 12th. They have the right to celebrate their culture the same as we do,and I would not wish to take that away from them. Let them have their day. Every one has the right to be happy, to hold events to honor their cultures. Hell, I ad mit that I love to hear a good fife and drum band play "THE SASH".

This is great. Unfortunately Belfast is going the same way as London now. I've lived in London for all of my 50 years and mass-immigration from the third world and eastern Europe has destroyed the culture and communities of the city. All the cockneys are gone and it's now fast becoming a dystopian shite hole. I've been banging on about it to my friends of the Red White and Blue as well as the Tricolour for years but they don't get it and fail to understand what is coming. Northern Ireland is the last 'Hold Out' and if you don't pay attention you will lose it. England, Cymru and Alba are being swamped as 600,000 to a million people a year come here. That's EVERY year. Catholic, Protestant, Irish, Scot, history and ancestry won't matter at all to the corrupt rulers of these Isles and the flood that is overwhelming London, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool will wash away the small communities of Ulster in a few decades. It's happened in London in 60 years and London is massive, it'll be even quicker in the six counties. The tidal wave is coming, be prepared. Seriously, keep your eyes open and be prepared.

Yea I was thinking that myself, only one accordion band and I actually forgot we used to have the brass and silver bands as well... I can only think not only are the flutes more popular but they are considerably cheaper instruments to maintain a band with which is why the others have drifted away.

@@CmdrX3 flute bands seem very prominent around Belfast. Other bands do seem more popular in other areas though. I’ve seen small parades around Fermanagh with 6-7 bands have a single flute band, a few accordion and about 5 pipe bands.

Here’s another thought. Maybe the world would cheer to see the Orange regalia hung up and each Protestant & Catholic march together for peace & harmony. Why the need to FLAUNT orange colours ? These parades have little to do with the battle of the boyne which in itself was a fight between the Protestant Dutch house of orange and the catholic king. You don’t really understand the true feelings between the factions. I’m sorry for you.
