I've no idea where Bangor is (somewhere in the British empire, I'd guess), but everyone seemed pretty happy to stagger along bashing their drums and tossing batons.
Some genres of bands play much more loudly than others. Those bands provide great entertainment but of course it can't be fully appreciated until you see and hear them live.

As other reply states, the idea for the order was influenced by freemasonry, but the influences end with the idea of the structure of Lodges, District, Grand Lodge basically. And yeah, lot of charity work, fundraising, cultural and historical exhibits that sort of thing. No links to Masonic Order though
