Heads Up! We just installed a similar unit on a Class B RV van for one of our customers. This unit draws 60-80Amps of 12VDC. Typical Deep Cycle 100Ah battery will power this for about 15 minutes according to our live testing. You will need to upgrade your alternator significantly. Even a 200Amp Alternator will have a hard time keeping up the the 12VDC Air Conditioner while charging your battery. I personally don't think the technology is quite there yet. But we are getting closer.
Great video. Ive been eye balling these kits for my dtasun 240z. And the ones with the vent hoses...might have to get one. And i heard they work ok.. not the best on 105degree weather. But warm 95 or so its perfect for cruising with window up lol
This is very interesting especially for use as a intercooler to chill charge air on boosted applications without being a mechanical draw on the engine drift cars could definitely benefit with these
If you want to validate all your work, I suggest getting a thermometer next time you’re at the grocery store sticking in the vent and showing people that day is current ambient temperature, and the temperature coming out of the vents.
@@RichardsRodClassic I get that but you are sharing what can potentially be an incredible diy to someone who needs AC in their project. So you sharing a temp would go a long way for reach with the channel. I mean you did post this to share information so why not be as thorough as possible. At this point I doubt people are going to want to actually really try unless they have some kind of concrete data. Numbers don't lie. You could literally transform your video from a novelty into a widespread thing. Imho 👌🫡👍
If your classic came without and you put AC in it, you are not truly experiencing that classic. Barely use it in my 21st Century machines unless absolutely necessary, and lightly then. Guess that's why they never need serviced. They are 7 and 12 years old and original 134a runs through their veins.
Come to my city in the summer. Yuma AZ. The sunniest city in the world. No AC at 120⁰F is just miserable. You like miserable? Maybe I should brag that we don't need to use our heaters?
@@HectorFabela-k6u Lived in AZ 8 years. The summers of 2015-16, my first two, I worked in a warehouse with no climate control, drove an old Altima with no AC and wrote a novel on my front porch. The average temperature was @ 110°. Moved back to KY only for family. Wasn't all that bad to me and I still miss it all. Hate winters here.
If this is like the system I have and the others I have looked at. TX is where the green wire from the evaporator/thermostat to trigger the compressor goes. HX is an output for an external LED indicating the compressor is on and running usually a yellow wire. You can pick up the evaporator fan power directly from the battery since it has its own inline fuse and your battery is so close or any other positive power source. You don't want to pick it up off that HX terminal as it internally can't handle the amp draw of the squirrel cage long term.
@CEA-zw2xt we are not 100% sure it can but everything we found online said they can't. However u probably could lay it close 2 flat as long as the upper hose is higher than the lower in my opinion.
I am swapping a Ls3/6L80E in a 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It's a project with my grandkids. I was just looking at this recently. And then your video pops up. I was researching (also) a electric 12v motor to run my accessories to get them off of my crank. But the a/c would be cool too. I need to see if I can hook the compressor to my Crown Vic system. Everything is there but I'd like to get the compressor off my crank. I'm going electric/hydro power steering so the pump will be off. That would just leave the water pump and alternator for now. Cool deal.
@nathanielbolden5053 I am making videos. I started making videos so my grandkids can follow me when they can't be with me. And people started following because if it. I was like cool, ok. People are telling me that my Gen 4 videos are the only ones out there. We'll step by step videos. Plenty of I'm gonna, and then its done lol. That doesn't help anyone lol. You go through and video as you go. I make my videos so my grandkids can understand, so I turn on the. Average and when I'm done for the night, I shut it off lol. I have the block and stand alone done. Working the heads now. Uts just taking too friggin long cause of saving and then waiting for parts lol.
The filter dryer on the side may be the reason you can’t turn it. So if it hat that separate you could have options. Also some 90’s would turn your hoses down.
I have a customer here in Texas that is wanting a retrofit A/C on his truck. Did you finish the job yet? If so how did it perform? If there is a issue with the system does it carry a waranty of any kind? If so whow would you contact? Thanks good job on the video.
@@RichardsRodClassic Ah ok. I've made an account, but I still can't do anything with it. I contacted them, but they've never replied. I don't know if they think I'm a bot or something
Nice video you might want to turn your comp so the rubber legs are down I got in touch with Treeligo they are the ones who build the kit, and he told me you have to mount the Compressor with the legs down so it is in the upright positionHe said it would trip a error code. He also told me that you can mount the Condenser any way you want it does not matter so he said you can mount it flat under the vehicle. Hope this helps it sure answered my questions and concerns that I had I hope he is right there is a lot of videos that say you can't mount the Condenser flat but maybe with the electric Compressor it does not matter. Thanks for the video.
I've been researching these for quite a while for my VW rabbit truck. I do agree on the compressor mounted rubber feet down it's because of lubrication purposes. As for the condenser I been doing commercial refrigeration for over 25 years I really don't see much of a problem in mounting the condenser flat if but there are any concerns with oil return you could always just mount it at a slight angle.
I have had multiple cars with the condenser mounted in a horizontal position. Old Porsche 914 had them flat in the front trunk. The crimping tool to put in new fittings isn’t too expensive.
@@RichardsRodClassic there is a theory that if the condenser is the lowest point in a system that the lubricant can puddle. All of my cars that I have had there has been a slight angle to them with the heated coolant entering at the leading edge of the airflow being slightly higher than the exit but that’s it. An ac company that builds systems for old VWs has the evaporator laying almost flat on the side of the transmission. I had a similar system and it worked great. I believe the company name is Gilmore. Google them images of Porsche 914 DPD air conditioning.
Very good video brother but I got a question for you where are you located at well or should I say there's a six-cylinder do you want to get rid of that 6 cylinder motor and transmission on the side of your truck let me know appreciate you
@@RichardsRodClassic well let me know if he want to get ride of it can u get me the number off the motor on the left hand side of it if yer looking at the motor sould be 6 or 8 numbers please
Stop complaining and get the job done dude. Real mechanics don't yap n cry about the job. You need to be a fabricator and make 💩 happen. Good luck dude
