The Thirteenth Doctor being sassy, funny, quirky and generally brilliant for 15 minutes All footage used of the 13th Doctor from series 11, series 12 and series 13 / Flux. All footage owned by BBC. I do not own any of this footage
I agree the series is so great and Jodie and Mandip as well as the other cast really add to the beauty and love of the show for me. The way Jodie is having fun in each scene I love so much!!
I agree to this, I just don't get why people don't like the thirteenth doctor at all. It seems like that people only care about hating on the thirteenth doctor and not the writing ffs
She feels a lot like 11th , silly funny and sassy but added more golden retriver to the mix, yet 11th personality got more serious when he lost amy and rory countles of times , same with clara
I liked Jodi as The Doctor. SHE wasn't the problem with that couple seasons. She did great with what she had to work with. Also, there are a lot of clips without sound in this. :(
@@Phoenix-bi9bn all of the clips from S11E02 The Ghost Monument have the left and right audio channels out of phase. When played in mono (combined channels) they cancel each other out. You’ve got to watch the video in stereo to hear those clips! Very strange.
Thirteen is my favorite Doctor and now she and Fifteen are both on the top spot! I would love to travel with Thirteen and Yaz and with Fifteen and Ruby! ☺️
The writing has been average at times and the pandemic hit series 13 hard, but I really liked seasons 12 and 13, and Season 13 is one of my favorite doctor who seasons. I understand why a lot of people don't like this era, but I like it.
@@ChristOnABike05I agree. I think the writing really brought this era down. (Thanks Chibnall…). There’s only so much an actor can do with such shoddy scripts.
I don’t get why people hate the timeless child storyline so much when they were literally already planning an extremely similar storyline before classic who was canceled?
You know, honestly, I think it would have been find just to have the concept of previous "lost" regenerations introduced. I'm not crazy about making them some kind of special "chosen one" type character that was the origin of the Time Lords... BUT, I don't think it ruined The Doctor like some people claim.
Everyone’s talking about the writing (and yes, the writing is a noticeable step down) but I think the other thing that weighed down this era was actually the directing, especially in series 11. So much of the show was shot very closeup, shallow depth of field and handheld. Not to mention the lighting was incredibly dark to the point where it was occasionally hard to make things out. But more than that the blocking of the scenes felt really off, having them more often than not stand in a straight line in awkward moments. But really what this affected was the tone, which they couldn’t quite get right this way. With how it’s shot it ends up conveying a really dark and moody tone more reminiscent of a SYFY show, but the writing itself is far more whimsical. The visuals work against the writing so the comedic beats don’t land as well in context. I mean the clips in this video out of context are fantastic! But the role of the director is to pull all these elements together and that just doesn’t really materialize here. A director is supposed to let the audience know what they should be focusing on, but here everything is shot so similarly to each other that it ends up prioritizing the literal visual quality over the storytelling purpose. It ends up making everything feel unimportant and strangely intimate when this era had a 4 person TARDIS team with episodes usually piling on 3 or more one-off side characters as well. It just feels very misguided in that sense. I think if 13’s run was shot in a similar way to other series prior we would at least have gotten more joy and emotional impact with everything. That’s just my opinion anyway, as a director myself.
People complaining about the new storylines are really funny because they forget that Who has been pulling stuff out of no-where for YEARS. Enjoy Jodie and we’ll all have a look back and laugh in due time.
This doctor's era was ruined by bad writing. I feel really bad for Jodie cuz she really tried her best with what she had and I still love her as The Doctor
I really like Jodi as the Doctor, it's just that most of her episodes were pretty poorly written and she didn't get the time she deserved to truly shine. I hope they can bring her back in an episode with some better writing so people get a more positive view of her. She deserves it.
It really is a shame Whittaker got saddled with overall poor writing. Not to blame Chibnall specifically, since his one-off stories range from alright to good, but he wasn't all too fit for a showrunner (even so, it's a very stressful job effectively being in charge of everything on-screen). I just wish that 13's run was basically just her and Graham at the very least. The larger team without defined roles makes following Ryan and Yaz quite boring and slow compared to Graham.
