Asking about anyone's sexuality, or outing someone without their consent, is never a good thing. I know we all want to see ourselves represented on the screen, but as you pointed out, actors are people too. They have no obligation to be anyone's representation. They are not the characters they play. That being said, if someone does ask the question, a polite 'no' is an acceptable answer. Or even a non-answer like, "that's a very personal question that I'm not comfortable answering." would work as well. Some of these actors clearly need a PR team giving them advice.

But to hire gay people to play a gay role you should ask every actor about their sexuality. This is unacceptable. Work should not depend on someone's sexual orientation but skills. Just because someone is gay shouldn't mean they have priority in such roles, nor should being gay exclude them from playing any role if they have the skills.

I was shocked at quite a few of these but I really had no idea about Krist feeling so strongly against the LGBTQ+ community. I guess you can never really tell who is a homophobe. I really hope he will step down from the BL industry and act in other roles. It's very uncomfortable being in the LGBTQ+ community and having anti-LGBTQ+ actors/actresses play roles like that.

Honestly, seeing the few kissing scenes between the two protagonists in the two Sotus series, (and not even a bed scene, for example) I quickly realized that something was wrong and that Krist was forced. It seems to me that both actors said they were straight, but Singto was more convincing, I just didn't like Krist in the role. Then when I saw him act in the drama Puppy Honey 2, where he wooed the female lead, I saw him much more relaxed, so I think he is one of those actors who at most can shoot a "Bromance", because in the role of the gay just not can act ... With this no one should be discriminated against, there are straight actors who are very good at playing that role (see Bright for example), there is nothing wrong with that and a fan must not get angry if that actor declares that he is not gay, he is an actor, his job is supposed to be acting. It should be reminded of certain fans who assault actors with inappropriate questions. That said, some actors should also use their intelligence more and learn to respond courteously, without offending anyone, but this is a matter of education, it has nothing to do with gender ... As for Mew, I think he recently hinted that he is bisexual. Having said that I did not know about this story with the co-star of What the Duck, I only knew about the story with Gulf (Type), a story that seems to be over, if there has been ... for me they are all commercial maneuvers but that's okay so .., after all this is also part of the show, or trying to please the fans ...

This situation also comes down to communication. It seems like Mew was misreading that Art liked him, so he kissed him. Since Art says he initially went along with it, Mew couldn’t know Art was not comfortable about it until Art said so, which should not have been in a tweet. It makes me wonder if Mew’s tweets were a result of Art not responding to phone calls or texts. Either way this issue should have been handled privately. Neither side should have brought the public into this.

I'm very disappointed with Godt, I love 2moons and I think what he did is very disrespectful towards Bas. After knowing the reason why the actor who plays as Pha is changed, I'm glad that they did changed it. Actors like him should not act in Bl series if he couldn't even act professionally and be respectful. I watched a video saying his actually homophobic, and I was so shock. Straight or not, we all should accept everyone because they deserved that. I know many straight men who respect gays and befriend them. Some even like watching Bl series with me. I'm a straight woman and I have many gay friends, my boyfriend is bisexual and I don't mind it at all.
I agree, in my opinion, South east asian countries have started making BLs as a way to make tonnes of money but they forget that there is still a huge amount of stigma involved in being lgbtq in these countries and althouh these actors play gay characters they are still very much inherently homphobic themselves and that's why until the industry as a whole changes, these actors will not change.
I honestly thought the whole thing with bright was blown up because some fans over analyse things and focus on hurting actors, especially when he was under fire for what his girlfriend said. Mew and Gulf are low key relationship together and are not out in public-many of their good friends have validated this and many many clues are out their if you are a diehard fan you can see them everywhere. Gulf and Mew still recognize themselves as the sun and sunflower together. Mew has sunflowers in most of his music videos. Gulf in his most recent live even cheered on the waanjai followers. If you don’t know who waanjai are you have no business questioning anything. The fact that they still talk fondly about each other, are in contracts with almost ALL the same corporations, and that they are not treating themselves like regular friends is basically proof that what they have is something more that they don’t want public. They want to keep their own works credited to their individuality and not their ship. They also want to avoid hate that they’ve received a lot of.

Its just they needed to focus on their solo careers & to do so they have to deassociate with each other to avoid the shipping fans harrassing their future partners. MewGulf are not a band. Great and informative video! I wasn't aware of several of these, which were quite shocking, disturbing, and disappointing. Some of them I could forgive for lack of education and coaching to properly navigate being a public figure. Most of these actors come from being normal teenagers to full blown celebrities overnight with very little knowledge of how to properly conduct themselves publicly. So I think a PR team should be a must for the newcomers to prevent these sort of problems. Others I think are pitfalls from the horrible mismanagement of BL actors, such as the situation between Mew and Art. I have never been a fan of these productions companies pushing actors into these fan service kayfabe roles. This can not only confuse the fans, but the actors as well, who may start to believe some of what they're doing/experiencing. So I think there is plenty of blame to go around for that particular situation. The rest are either blown out of proportion from scrutiny(like Bright), or just flat out disturbing. I am also NOT okay with actors using the BL industry to get over in the entertainment industry and discarding them. It's completely selfish and deserving of shame in my opinion. It comes off as homophobic, and is deceiving people into thinking you're an ally, when it's just for profit and actually think really poorly about it.

Thank you. “Are you gay?” I believe if an actor plays a character that they should be prepared to politely, in a non offensive way, answer if they are anything like that character. If playing a gay character, and asked if they are gay, one should already have a polite, non offensive answer prepared. Sadly it is still an issue that is not accepted by all. And it will more than likely be asked. If an actor feels offended when asked, maybe they shouldn’t play the part. If one is sure and confident about who they are, no offense should be taken when asked, IMO. Also, if someone who plays a gay character is asked if they are gay, it should be a compliment because that means they played their part well, whether the actor/actress is gay or not.

Hoelho Art I guess my whole point is that an actor playing a gay role,(because there are and may always be people who may intentionally or unintentionally cause conflicts concerning sexuality) the question of being gay will be asked. Being asked if someone is gay is not a rude question for everyone. It doesn’t offend everybody asked, Maybe it shouldn’t be asked, but it is. Just have an answer ready that won’t out you if you don’t want to be outed if you are gay. Giving a rude answer may not help your acting career or any profession at that. There’s a polite way to answer, without answering: “ I’m an actor and I play my part, thank you.” Keep it politely on a business level. Answering rudely may out you in some minds. Be rude if you like it’s a free world. Just be willing to take the consequences. People are free to ask what they want, and people are free to answer however they want. “Get over yourself”, not sure what that means, but I mean no harm. I apologize, if in any way, that my comment may have come across in a hurtful way.
He was literally not being asked but being called gay, trans and so on to the level it became harrasment. There's a difference if someone asks you politely and when the fans keep on spamming you with their comments about your sexuality to the point where it was literally becoming harrasment. My understanding with Krist and his response to the "are you gay" is that it was the straw the broke the camels back. He had been constantly asked over and over and over again to the point of bordering harassment and he snapped.

There are a few openly gay actors that I know of, in Thai BL at least, like Earth Katsamonnat Namwirote and Fluke Natouch Siripongthon, but even in 2021 it's sadly still not always the best career move to be openly gay. It tends to end up getting actors stereotyped. I think at lot of them stay closeted until they're well established so that it doesn't affect the kind of roles they're offered.

Umm Art and Mew were actually a couple. Art is not straight but became afraid that it would come out and ruin his career. The irony is that it’s non existent. Mew is now a global singer super star. Long live Mew. Edit: I also don’t know of any Filipino man who comes out and says yes I’m 100 percent gay. I totally believe in bisexuality but it feels like culturally they feel the public will take it better if they think it’s still possible for them to be with a woman when it’s pretty darn clear what he likes. Hey! No hate, but I just wanted to let you know to tone it down on the term “fujoshi”. In Japan it’s a term to describe woman that are obsessed/fetishize “BL” (which is an abbreviation for Yaoi). I’m mentioning this because it makes a lot of gay people like me uncomfortable as it feels as if we’re being fetishized rather than supported.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that also finds the term fujoshi uncomfortable. It also makes it sound like BL isn't watched by gay men so it stigmatizes as BL being only for women, even though newer BL seems to be breaking out of that stigma and represents MLM more naturally. Doesn't Fujoshi usually link to just Yaoi and not BL? Since the two genres are different.

I never was a fan of sotus actors esp Krist, i did not even watch the sequel. Why is Krist taking on another bl series tho 🤔. Mew is such a positive and strong person, even after all he went through he still managed to pick himself up and be the superstar he is today. I hope Art can also be forgiven by the fans soon. The respect for BL still needs more work, actors need to respect BL as much as they respect non bl movies and series .
Let’s look at these ppl as ‘ACTORS’. The ones truly gifted are the ones that convinced us they are the character they portray. If an actor portrays a person with cerebral palsy so convincingly, it doesn’t mean he has CP (movie was ‘My Left Foot portrayed by actor, Daniel Day Lewis). I’m sure you can think of dozens more. We can like the characters they portray, but we should not mixed them up with the real person! After watching many of BL series/movies, I came to the conclusion that part of actors contract (similar to North America) is to promote their shows as their character. And if their characters becomes famous, they get more endorsements, makes them better financially. Good for them, they worked hard for it! As fans, we should appreciate the actors and not solely their characters. It’s not or shouldn’t affect OUR lives whatever their sexuality is. Yes, we can be curious!

Bright's 'scandal' was so stupid and i still think he had nth to apologize for. I'm not his fan btw. I dun even like him as an artist(i dun like his acting), but it's quite obvious to me that he got misunderstood due to wrong half-ass translations on social media. They just used the word 'taiwanese girl', and they were accused of supporting taiwan's freedom, which is quite brainless.😂😂😂 Abt the covid19 post...idk. It's probably out of fear, the way I see it. I've heard that a lot of mainland Chinese citizens generally are against their government but the government is quite dangerous to go against. They r worse than older gens who still valued freedom somewhat. I know firsthand how it is to live with fear under dictatorship. This isn't really the cause of their nationalism & ccp loving attitudes. I blame it on education plus the comfortable economic status of ppl in big cities. When u r fulfilled in a material sense, no many ppl will think abt challenging the loss of freedom, especially if they never experienced any other alternative.

These actors are no more perfect than any other person. Some have made mistakes. Some perhaps didn't think carefully before they did something that turned out wrong. They like many other people need to work on themselves and grow as people. Diaz had no reason to apologize. His sexuality was his own.

I agree with Bright's part. These days its kind of a trend with harrassing celebs over any anti-China incident they could be associated with. No one could get away from it irrespective of whether they actually committed the mistake or not. About Krist, I can partly understand bc we as normal people would never know how much of a harrassment a celeb suffers on daily basis especially on a platform like Insta where anyone could DM you. However, a huge part of being a celeb is managing yourself and your actions. Although I don't expect him to be a perfect person, I do hope he has learnt his lesson and would not explode on social sites again.

Things I'd like to put out there (not to justify or dismiss any of these situations but maybe to keep in mind going forward > of course many of you already know this stuff but I just want to type it out) 1) Translations can be off. 2) Actors could be off and not thinking. (How many careless things have we said that we don't mean? But words matter > though I think consistent behavior also does if it was a slip we'd not see more of it if it's a pattern than that says something else.) 3) Homophobia says a lot about the person who is spewing it. It's still astonishes me to this day that so many people defend Mew in the MewArt controversy simply because they liked him in TharnType. The arguments are always the same: 1. Art shouldn't have outed Mew. 2. Art probably lied about the whole situation. But both these arguments are totally invalid. 1. Art never outed Mew. Mew outed himself way before Art's Video when he told his fans during a Livestream that he doesn't care about the gender of his romantic partner. During his statement Art never says that Mew is gay or anything regarding his sexuality. He simply described want happened between him and Mew, him saying that Mew forced a kiss on him tells us nothing more about Mew's sexuality than we already knew before. 2. Mew never denied any of the allegations Art made against him and people still chose to believe that Art lied. Mew sexually assaulted Art and controlled his social life but people ignore this because Art is a boy and apparently boys can't get sexually assaulted, so he should just suck it up and move on with his day. I find it really disgusting that people praise Mew to the high heavens and push Mew and Gulfs relationship, when technically, Mew was accused of Sexual Assault and never denied this fact. What happened to always believe the victim first?
As a criminologist, there was no sexual assault. Mew genuinly thought art liked him back, Art kissed him back which was giving consent. Art didnt tell mew TILL DAYS LATER through a tweet that he felt uncomfortable. seems like art took alot of time on his decision. Mew said he was led on. I know about Alex scandal and Mew but they don't deserve to get outed that is never okay. I know that Krist , Mean , Godt hated playing gay roles , even though that is partially what started their careers. Krist always seemed like he was forcing it the entire time for Sotus which is why i couldn't bring myself to watch him. MEan basically did gay for pay, he acted homophobic and disrespected the industry but said it was to get famous, Godt and other actors don't like doing BL roles so it is a one and done or i quit because i refuse to kiss another guy. As a viewer you can tell which actors are comfortable and which aren't, some support the lgbt movement while others don't. This video is a clear example of everything that is going wrong within the lgbtqi+ community. I feel deeply sorry for almost all of the actors included in this video (and many more who were not included). Clearly their success comes with a high price: the constant, irrational en unreasonable scrutiny of people who dare to call themselves fans. And don't even get me started on the constant intrusions in their personal lives... Every word these actors utter, be it in life or on social media, every joke they make, every gesture, every look, in fact: anything they do, is analyzed, scrutinized, twisted and turned to fit some preconceived notion of what tolerance towards lgbtqi+ should look like... There was a time in history when our community was a defensible one. Nobody asks an actor in a film where a man and a woman play if he is straight. Why do you ask an actor in a BL film if he is gay? The actor plays his role. If it's good, it all looks very real and believable. But it's not possible to conclude that everything is like that in real life. It is inappropriate to ask a person about their sexual orientation. This so-called “fan service” is the biggest evil. The audience at these events is still very young and easy to manage. The actors themselves are also very young and see the success and the money. I think it feels great at the beginning, but at some point the rude awakening comes. It's almost impossible to get out of this trap. Not having a private life, constantly acting with your colleague the way the fan wants, constantly being glued to each other, that can destroy you. We see it in Mew, who pulled the ripcord and is therefore the bad guy, we see it in Ohm and Nanon. Watch the films and be happy if they are well made and everything is ok.

This is the second video that talked about Krist being homophobic. I think in both the videos that matter was taken way out of context. Krist is not homophobic. He was not used to the Y-Fan club atmosphere and was simply in the process of getting used to it. But I think he learned a valuable lesson. Now he's careful with his jokes even when he's with his fans. Also when he said that he's not able to watch two guys getting hot with each other.... why is that such a homophobic thing to say? I watched that interview and others where he made similar comments and it didn't come out as hateful. Instead I felt that he was feeling shy. Also I feel that we are completely disregarding the social makeup of Krist when we say he's homophobic over these things. I also feel that the creater of this video must have really like Krist. Because unlike when talking about others, her tone of voice changes when talking about Krist. Or is it just my imagination? As for what Krist and Singto said about rape victims is not up for debate. The reason is actually a conversation I had with my brother. While he has absolutely no problem with the LGBTQ+ community, he does have an aversion to BL. I think this is not homophobia but an issue of toxic masculinity and the toxic norms of the patriarchal society such as internalized misogyny. So I do believe that, strictly speaking, Krist is not homophobic. But he is a product of the patriarchal society.
