In this episode we look closely at a "restored" tube radio bought online and see that there is much more to do in order to safely listen to the set. I believe this is an Emerson model EC-336 (schematic: www.nostalgiaair.org/pagesbymo..., which would date the set to the 1940s. We see immediately that the power cord is not wired safely (see the previous episode on isolation and the AA5 design, • #4: The "All American ... ), that not all the capacitors have been replaced, that no resistors are modern, and that there is extensive rubber rot in the wiring.
