I dont use perlite anymore, as it tend to float to the top of the pot and i dont like the look of the white perlite in the soil either. Instead i prefere to use pumis as it stays in the soil and do not float to the top. Also i use vermiculite, coco fiber and spagnum moss and sometimes leca and chunks of coco. Yes the perlite can look a little odd depending on how it settles and the white gets 'dirty' after a while because of the soil. I'll definitely be trying pumice after this too. Do you use Leca on its own or mixed in with other things? I'm trying vermiculite with some tomato plants as they don't like to dry out, so I'll see if they do any better than when I didn't use it. 💚
Same here! I keep seeing plant shops and garden centres selling plants bare root in water now and I don't like it 🙈I suppose Leca does still give them something but I agree, if they grow in a soil/mixed substrate in the wild, we should be replicating that.
