The man's a wizard. Knows the back end, the history, and beats the games like a boss.

We were lucky to have one of those with the "Ladder Cheat" in it when I was a kid at one of the local arcades. You could simply play forever... but after a while it got old... and we moved on. Still one of the greats from the past! Great job on the rebuild... it looks fantastic! :)

I acquired one of these exact same units and just had the monitor fixed. It is in original case and working. We are going to have a blast playing it.

Great video, about 10 years ago I re-painted my DK cabinet the same blue that my machine came with, but looking at yours I wish I had done the same red. My monitor needs help too!

@Suppabad82 The 24 volts ONLY is needed for the coin meter. If you must have a coin meter, it can be switched out with a 12 or 6 volt volt meter (used on almost every other arcade game made) and then power it with the 5 or 12 volt line! Todd

Very nice cab.

And I just replaced the modern switching power supply with an old original one, because I could never get the voltages right with a new one. When +5V was good, -5V was at -4.7V, or when -5V was good, +5V was way higher, +5.3V. The +12V was also all over the place. I tried 3 PSUs, and it was the same with all of them.

yes...we find the megatouch style power supplies work better for the nintendo games

I have a question, is there an easy way to get the piece that fits above the control panel and holds in teh bezel? I'm building a red Donkey Kong cab from scratch and that piece seems to be the one tricky part I'm struggling with . Any help would be appreciate. Also, any idea where i can get the "instructions" sticker that goes on that piece as well.

Would you say the red in the word "Donkey Kong" on the side art is the same colour of the cabinet? Or perhaps the red on the Control Panel? I am trying to figure out exactly what red I should use for a scratch build bartop replica. :) - BTW great restoration work!

THANKS! I'll probably be ordering cap kits from Bob Roberts, firstly to redo the audio amplifier, i got a bad hum... Otherwise its great! Also,I spoke with Todd briefly today on the phone regarding out of state warranty service logistics and also talked about pins, special order deposits, etc... Maybe that was you, but if not, please thank him for taking the time! Anyway, take care and maybe I'll find something with you guys within the year...

Shane Bolda That hum will not go away entirely. Recapping the audio board may improve it, but it will always be there due to the design.

+TNT Amusements Inc is there a website for them? I found a couple on ebay, I'm sure the quality on 1 is better than the other, twice the cost.

I also have a 4 board but its a cock tail. can you use a stitching power supply with it?
@tntamusements
@tntamusements 10 лет назад
yes...you can easily install a switcher! SOme uprights used the 4 board system. It was designed because the Donkey Kong cocktails had no room for the 2 board system. Extra Note: All DK Jr and DK 3 games were made larger (with alrger monitors too) and take the 2 board system!
@ToiletPunisher38
@ToiletPunisher38 10 лет назад
Thanks guys, last question. Do you have a link to a power switcher you prefer? and do you know of a Pac Man power switcher that would work for that board? I have an all original and i dont know whether to convert jamma or buy a new power supply to help control the power to the board and monitor.
