OK. I just got my first set of aggressive frames. I was upset with myself because I ordered the Kizer IV without realizing the Kizer V is available. I'm still awaiting my wheels. This video makes me feel better about the frames I got. I've been skating Razors Cosmos and just got some new Powerslide liners in them. The hills here in the Midwest are terrifying. Hopefully the smaller wheels will help with that and encourage me to skate the parks more and the streets less. I think I'll get some SUV frames, too. Falling on grass seems favorable.

(Semi) Sarcastic Freestyle Frames Devil's advocate 1 Cheaper than AR 2 Lighter than AR 3 (Being Serious, I don't know if this is actually true, flats having 4 points of contact would suggest being the most stable) 4 Irrelevant, If my friends ain't skating freestyle. I have no need to swap frames 5 Nothing smoother than no wheels at all 6 Nothing Easier with that big ass window of a Freestyle Frame 7 Same 8 Same -9 No comment- 10 Feels like more of a wheel profile discussion 11 3 and 10 play a role here 12 Same 13 Just need the Dick Fosbury of skating to show up in freestyles, problem solved

I was excited starting again a month ago because with anti rocker, I could skate and not get knee pain. (Knee issues stopped my lifelong skateboarding). I tried flat setup today and at the end of the session had really bad knee pain. I think it was twisting and antirocker was not.

So if I remove the 2 middle wheels from my fleamarket find Salomon st:s? Can I call my setup antirocker? Or if I put in the middle 2 smaller grindwheels? Or is the frame also rockered? I’m a skier so rocker means a little different in my sport😅

Im looking forward to your arguments 😉 If youre a big guy weighing in at around 90kg or more, your wheels wear a lot faster and break a lot easier on Anti, so already by this: its not for everyone.. Sure, unmatched grindabilty/no wheel-bite, but also skating like on train rails.. 🚂 Thats why we've got so many awesome flat frames on the market these days. Just took us 25+ years to get there.. 😅 Reminder is set 👍 Nothing but love! ❤

@@Adam-M- Good to hear your Setups last 👍 Skating Park/Ramps or Street makes a huge difference, of course. Back in my Anti-days (a long time ago 😅) , i was mainly skating Street which helped with the cracks and the wear..I went through Mindgame, Senate, UC/Powerslide-wheels within weeks at around 80kg. Went back to Flat eventually, lost some Tricks , but its ok since the Skate is so fast and maneuverable (and im aging 😅✌️).. 2 Roll 4 Life!

I am kinda sceptical on the stability claims. Ofc you have way more experience than I do, but downhill skaters never use only two wheels and I figure they would if it's that more stable and less speed wobbly.
@RicardoLino
@RicardoLino Год назад
Downhill skaters use 5 wheels in a lot of setups because it also increases the grip. As you have more points of contact. For sliding is also a lot more stable. ALSO , the 5 wheels make the setup faster because the roads are NOT perfectly smooth and having more wheels make the setup adjust to roughness of the rolling surface… At the end of the day this video it’s trying to post the pros of the anti rocker ignoring the disadvantages… it’s a series. Last month I did it about flat and next month I’ll do A different type of setup .

Flat will always be better. Most of your points can be easily debunked, but we won't get into that. It all comes down to personal preference, but if you do ride flat make sure you get a frame that's made for it and most, if not all, of these points won't even matter.

Just watching the pros skate transition against each other its clear whos running flat bs anti. The anti look like the struggle to push and land big tricks. Also they dont do more grinds so why not just run flat and have more control?

I do anyway not understand the hype about flat-frames concerning aggressive-skating. Nowadays you have incredible good antirocker-frames and if you mount bigger wheels on them (from 60mm upward) you will speedwise not feel a huge difference to a flat frame. The only real advantages of a flat frame in aggressive skating are in my eyes just if you roll on nasty surfaces if you skate street, for doing huge gaps or if you like to add wizard tricks in your aggressive skating. But the advantages of an antirocker setup with bigger wheels are in my opinion ways bigger in aggressive skating than on a flat setup.
@JustAnotherBlader

big reason people stick with it is because it just feels so much better and more agile. if you skate flat for a prolonged period of time, going back to antirocker feels absolutely gross just rolling around.

What about swivels tho?!! 😁 Good points and all comes down to preference in the end. Flat/rockered setup provides much more agility and glide. And for me personally, the fun factor is soooo much about the middle wheels and what they bring. Agreed that anti makes many grinds easier. Especially on ledges.
@JustWhyFFS
@JustWhyFFS Год назад
As far as grinding goes, sure anti is easier because it allows more room for error. Which to me, just means it cements bad form. It's harder to unlearn something you're doing incorrectly, than to learn it correctly in the first place. But, as you said, it's all about personal preference. Long as your skatin, all that matters.
