I love mine, fantastic bike but I have like many others, a big problem trying to figure out how to adjust the settings for everything. So far, no RU-vid videos available on it. If you would like to be the first to make a video on it, a lot of people would be very happy. I agree with everything you say about this bike, ticks all the boxes for me 👍
Have the V-Strom 1050 xt (black/black) for 2 years now. Still no regrets that I didn't buy a GS 1250. All my friends have a GS and yes, there are some who have regular drivetrain problems. Have already made a few trips to Norway and Scotland with the V-Stom. Greetings from Belgium.
Couldn’t agree more. Test rode the GS1250 and the XT and brought the XT in black and gold. The 1250 seemed huge and heavy whereas the XT is fun nimble and a joy at low speeds and smooth at approximately legal max speeds. Standing up on the foot rests also finds the bike very stable. As you say also a lot cheaper to buy and own. The BMW was £8000 more to buy…. No brainer! That’s a lot for a badge.
I thought the 1250 is 223kgs vs XT @ 247kg? ...but looking at practical issues, the XT may make more sense but the GS may have its clientele. The only thing I would think about the XT is a drive shaft instead of the chain and phone connectivity. I have an XT coming by mid July and looking forward to it.

One thing you didn't mention are the position of the footrests as they are right in line with your leg when putting a foot down, you soon get used to it though. I came from a string of GSAs and a KTM 1290 SAS and love the bike. I doubt I would ever go back
Thanks for the video. Been debating between this, the 850 GS and the Triumph Tiger 900. I know I get more engine with the Suzuki, but I'm less concerned about engine size than I am about overall rider experience. I am looking for a primarily road bike, but it needs to be confident on unsealed roads and the occasional fire trail. The 850 Gs is priced similarly to the VStrom, so it's less about the cost and more about overall user experience. People swear by the comfort and UX of the GS, but seems the VStrom holds its own. Wish I could check it out myself, but since dealer stock is non-existant right now, I can't sit on or test ride without ordering. You're about my size, so it's good to finally see how it would physically fit me. Decisions, decisions...
Hi! I was also torned apart between the 850 GS Adventure and the V Strom 1050 XT. In my country the GSA's price is 1000 EUROS (around 1100 USD) bigger. The same options (almost) and the fact the Suzuki dealer was able to deliver the bike far more rapidly made me pick the V Strom.
@@dog4mike Hi! I've just ordered it and I still wait for the bike to come. The price was 13.290 Euros (14 110 USD). I have riden only the ex V Strom and I loved it a lot. I own a Honda NC 750 x at the moment we spek and I think the new V Strom will be a great experience. That's what I hope for, at least -::)). I'll let you know, if you don't mind.
It depends on your experience before you took a break. What did you ride before and for how long? I found it very easy to ride (even in heavy traffic) after not riding a modern bike on the road for about 8 years.
