Hello Chris, This video was fantastic. I have been messing around with Studio one for a bit now and finding myself in a state of having just enough of knowledge to mess things up. I now feel confident to get back at it and start my recording over but with more structure, Thank you

Chris, thanks for this video. I see a lot of good thinks to work on. I came from Reaper to Studio One because the X-Touch controller works fine with this software. And the software is amazing. I must update to the Pro version, but that's for later. I worked with two screens, so watching video and do thinks in Studio One as seen. Grtz. Billy

Thanks for another useful video Chris. Just a thought, maybe you could make a video on the practical use of the inbuilt virtual instruments, loops etc. How to drive or manage the various types of instruments to make music with the virtual keyboard and the samples provided. Seems like it would be slow/hard going to me using a keyboard or mouse(?)... apologies if I'm missing something really basic.

That’s a great idea! There’s benefits to having a midi keyboard for piano, strings, and instruments that have sustain. Loops and percussion isn’t that awful with a keyboard and mouse but I’ll see if I can put something together to cover all of that

Does studio one have a splitting tool for stems to separate instruments or remove vocals

Hey, Chris. I'm newish to Studio One. So was nice to come across your informative and nicely explained video. Question : Can the channel colours be changed. Not liking the standard blue colour much?
@heychrisgreen
@heychrisgreen 4 месяца назад
Thanks for watching and great question! You can change the track colors by clicking the vertical color block on each track. Should be just to the left of the track’s name. There’s also advanced settings for appearance you can change in the main Settings window in Studio One. Right click any audio region and click the square color palette to change individual audio regions too

Hi, Chris. Thanks for your speedy reply. Apologies. My question wasn't asked properly. What I should of asked was : The channel METERS Colours? I managed to change the Master channel to the K type, Green, Yellow and Red. But the other channels stayed the usual Blue. I like the K type Settings.

Hi Chris Green, thanks for this video... Do you have experience using the "Channel Strip" set up for bass guitar? best regards M

Hey! Are you talking about the Fat Channel plugin or a hardware channel strip like the Presonus one with mic pre, eq, and compressor?
@manueldesilva
@manueldesilva 4 месяца назад
Hi @@heychrisgreen , thank you for your answer I'm referring to the plugin that Studio One 6 brings in the Mixing/Channel Strip folder... Can you clarify what it is for and how to use the presets correctly for the bass guitar? I'm learning to play the bass guitar, and I use Studio One 6 for my musical exercises, and I would like to improve the sound quality of the bass, however, I'm also learning to use this DAW.... all the help is very welcome thanks

@@manueldesilva AH! Okay so I wouldn’t recommend the Channel Strip only because it lacks a lot of detail.. instead of the channel strip I would recommend you load the Pro EQ plugin, and also the Compressor plugin. It’s more to look at but if you load a Preset for Bass you will learn from the presets what knobs do what. I use the Mix Tool plugin to get my level to at least -18db on the meters. Then the presets should come to life! If you load a Compressor preset, turn the Threshold knob down until you see at least 1-3db of gain reduction (yellow bar) That helps you know you’re hearing something similar to what they heard when they made the presets. The Channel Strip plugin looks useful but like I said the fact it just has a “Compression” knob without anything like “ratio” “attack” etc.. means you can get really good at that one plugin and still be scratching your head in the future 😅 The Fat Channel is the big brother plugin so if you have it, I’d recommend that and/or the individual EQ, Compressor, and Gate plugins,
@manueldesilva
@manueldesilva 4 месяца назад
Hi @@heychrisgreen , ok, i think I get it... Which order do you recommend? 1 Fat channel | 2 Pro EQ plugin | 3 Compressor plugin ? Or 1 Fat channel |2 Compressor plugin ? Or 1 Pro EQ plugin | 2 Compressor plugin ?
@heychrisgreen
@heychrisgreen 4 месяца назад
@@manueldesilva load the Fat Channel first. It has an EQ and Compressor built in. (I’ll be making a video soon about it) Load a preset and you should be good to go! Bass guitar doesn’t typically need as much processing as other things. The LA2A for compression will sometimes do the trick all by itself! The Fat Channel has an emulation of an LA2A. Order wise I would EQ first and then Compress but you’ll find your own way the more you experiment 😁

Folder tracks can be set as a BUS for the tracks inside it. Just use the option bellow the folder name and select "Make folder as a Bus". If you are posting tuts videos on RU-vid, make sure to know the basics...
