Ashley. I just wanted to say that you have done an amazing and outstanding job on Remembrance. To be honest with you, not many things can make me cry. But you have managed to make me do that (several times). Also thanks for the tips and info on audio dramas! :3
Im planning a adio drama soon but im a beginner so im just learning the steps and before i do it i want to learn how to put everything together and btw thanks for the tips
This was a great help Ashley! I'm not going an audio drama but I am working for one but this helped me to understand everything about audio drama. Thanks so much. This helped out a tone
One little thing I would suggest you add to Number 2. If you can Backlog episodes 3-4 before you actually start posting. This gives you a bit of time to really focus on the stuff and do your absolute best and have the time ahead to continue to try and do your best.
Thank you Ashley H Now i know what i need to know for begin my project by The whay i see all your work and i love it and i hope that you can make episode 7 of remembrance is a great story thank you agein
I may be over a year late watching this...but as I'm gonna be doing an audio drama soon, I can use the help 😅 *watches full video* 😲 wow, I read a story called Inverno in F Minor when I have (more or less) a full cast. Nearly everything in this video perfectly depicts my editorial process, getting lines, deadlines, being flexible, and more. Even the comments where people ask me where's the next chapter for Inverno or Fireteam Odium (another story I'm reading). Now I know what I'm in for
+Equestrian Sketcher I'm in the process of making episode two XDD you can check it out if you want just search "MLP:the chosen one" and there's a channel for it and everything (also I'm bad at explaining things XDDD)
I love your Audio Drama sooooooooo much!!! I wish i cold make such a good one, but i dont know how to get started. I have some small ideas, but they are not really good!
Thank you so much for this! I'm currently writing a script for an audio drama and have been wanting tips from RU-vidrs on how to go about creating it, so this couldn't have come at a better time! It seems like a lot to undertake so I'm not fully certain on whether or not I'll go ahead with it, but for now I'm just focusing on getting the story and script in shape. :) I did want to ask just a couple of questions though. With regards to finding voice actors and artists, what do you feel is the best way to go about finding them, particularly artists? Do you just go ahead and ask people or do you find it easier to hold auditions? And lastly, when you are giving your artists info on the scenes you want them to draw, what's the easiest way to do that? Do you just describe a scene or give them recorded audio to go with? Hope these questions make sense. XD
Equestrian Sketcher Well I don't want to reveal too much before I start holding auditions or anything, but I will say that it's not a MLP audio drama. It's actually going to be Undertale. :D
Thank you so very much for these helpful tips! I have been thinging of creating my own audio drama myself, even almost finishing the basics(such a the story and plot), when I realized, I have NO idea how to get this started! Using this guide, I finally understand how and what I need to do! Again, thank you Ashley! #AllHailDoritoQueen
I have a few audio drama ideas myself, and really wish to bring them to life. However, being the shy brony I was back in the height of MLP means I missed the threshold of gaining a following, so therefore I am sitting at a comfy 0 subs with one video pretraining to my audio drama ideas and not knowing how to get the word out. The video has 33 views and one like, but other than that nothing. I am hoping that maybe these tips will help me get going. The one audio drama I am excited to do the most is a Fluttercord Audio Drama I call: Dying to Get You Dizzy. The full explanation on the Audio Drama can be learned through watching my video on it. Welp, here's to Luna and hoping I can make it~
So... All those were great tips but I myself would have added in that list was make sure you are enjoying your story! I myself was getting ideas and everything g in my head until one day I just didn't like my idea. I think it's important to love the story, the characters, and just have fun! I tend to switch in and out of interests like every week so it was hard for me but I found an idea for a musical audio drama MLP, that is based off of a musical I've loved for years since I was 2 and still love it, so I've kept my head on that idea and I haven't gotten off it! Ps: if you ever need more artist for rememberance, ide love to help!
This was super helpful! I'm in the process of making an Audio Drama Titled "The Extinction of Hybrids" (possible title change). It's not my little pony and hopefully, it will be totally original. These tips really helped.
K Nikki well I am doing one it ends in about 3 to 5 hours basically it is called the suns lie it is about celectia all the characters are in a video there is 2 parts to the bid just audition and put the audition on RU-vid
Ashley, I was asking. Does your voice actors are you nearest friends? I mean, I need some voice actors on my audio drama. Cause I live in Indonesian. And I work alone in my script, animation, and so voice acting.
Thanks for the tips! I've stage performed but have never created my own story, not to mention I don't really *voice* act sooo, yeah. I do agree with many of these points, and I think this will be a great guide to those that have never done anything like this before, and it helped me realize a few things about the whole process too. P.S, your OC is really cute, and Doritos are delicious :3
i have one that i started based off the Trotting Dead and the latest episode 28 Pranks later gave me fuel for it. Its just me atm since i live at home. And the artowrk i use is all my own digital or hand drawn. i keep mine under 4 minute for now until i get better at it. One episode alone has almost 500 views o_O.
Re-watching this and the Say Goodbye to My Sanity parody you uploaded is really helping me calm down my nerves about my audio drama XD Tip Number One definitely helped me calm my nerves so woohoo! Thank you for this video Ashely! xD
Hey Ashley... I was thinking of expanding some of this... and I even added a few more tips... I ended up with 24 tips... I’m going to make the video for dat and then actually post it...
Editing.....My worst nightmare. Absolutely .00001% of me actually likes to edit, and that's only if it is an absolute necessity. Okay, that's it! I am getting an editor! Someone who actually LIKES editing things, because if I did it (and if I absolutely had to) I would go crazy in just one hour. The script writing, the directing, is a LOT easier for me. lol
Hey if you're interested, once I finish the script for my audio drama (MLP) would you like to collab? Edit: I LITERALLY didn't even see your reply until now. x_x
I need to apologize... i was under the assumption you paid people for artwork. I'm sorry. i was just coming over here to see if my audio drama i made was anywhere close to yours. i do not use other people i only do the acting myself through this thing called talknet and for are i use an SFM program so i can model them myself. am i being selfish? maybe. but i am having fun. and i don't think i have a reach to know if anybody would like to join on an MLP audio drama. so i just use what is available so i may share my story and i think you nailed this video. keep them coming!
I’m trying to make An audio drama which is a crossover between my little pony and spongebob. I got a vision for a story and the songs, but it’s the lyrics to each song that I’m having trouble on. Do I need to write in the songs when I’m writing the script or should I focus on the script and songs separately. Also this is my first time writing an audio drama script
Let's see. I got my characters all set up with their own backstories as well as included a few characters from the show. The only problems are that I suck at is writing a song, or even a parody song. Plus, I'm not exactly skilled in creating impressive artwork like the ones in Rememberance and Daughter of Discord. I don't even have the skills to edit my series. Not to mention the financial complications when it comes to voice actors who get paid for their work. I don't make a good income like others do.
hi Ashley, this video is great and really hepled me to understand what has to be done to make audio drama's like Rememberance which is awesome! I would love it if you can make more like this but you don't have to if you don't want to. Your Awesome And your work inspires!
Thank you for making such a positive and pleasant how to video for MLP Audio Dramas! Other ones I've seen were rather snarky and unpleasant. Your ponysona is really cute, too! My wife is a fanfic writer and she and I are planning to collaborate to do reading videos of her fanfics and comics. :)
thank you for making this for us Ashley! I know you are overwhelmed but I hope you know we love and care for you! plz don't go to crazy! take a break if you need it!💞💞
Hey Ashley, thank you for the tips! This is very helpful, educational, and informative! I can't wait to start my own audio show! In addition, I look forward to checking out your audio show entitled, "Remembrance", as well as your other videos! You just earned a new subscriber! :) P.S. # 1: You misspelled the word "Time Managemnet", it should be "Time Management". P.S. # 2: You have a very lovely voice! ;)
If I had an Audio Drama series, it would be called "The Musician and the Robotic Prodigy". Its a gay love story that is loosely based around certain Disney boys (Miguel and Hiro) from certain Disney movies (Coco, Big Hero 6). Don't judge me, gay love stories are beautiful and I'm a lesbian
this was really helpfull! My 2 best friends and I started working on our audiodrama a while ago (I think it's about a half year ago). It had a pretty long pause since I wanted to do most of the art myself but I didn't have the things I need for that. I knew I would get them around this time so we kind of put it on hold and now that I have it we are on ful swing again! And we hope that we can release our first episode before the summer! :D If we would stumble upon some difficulties may I ask you for help? I really love your channel and your work :)
I am worcking on my own but it is not MLP so it is takeing a while. But it doesn't have to many different peopple in it yet but I hope to create a fiw more for it :3 And makeing songs is probabbly the easyest for me becoude makeing music is fun :DDD thease tips will help so much :D Love all of your worck! :D
I started writing my audio drama and by the time I was done I was at 20 page of dialog with sound effects. For me the hard part was trying to do descriptions of things with out breaking the scene and having the characters just say what they see. So I just use sound effects and sometimes cut away to another scene where the character is explaining to someone else why things went to shit.
Audio Drama is unique. There’s no other book like it. First it’s aimed at the vast audience for audio drama, whether in the form of traditional radio plays or as podcasts. For them, Audio Drama provides the opportunity to see how ten literary classics were dramatised for radio, and to recreate the performances for themselves as they read. Secondly, it’s for all those podcast producers who are keen to exercise their imagination and technical skills by producing audio drama for their followers. These ten scripts provide the raw material from which podcasters can craft their own drama productions. The works on which they are based are literary classics and are in the public domain. The audio dramatisations - all of which have been, or are about to be, produced and broadcast either by the BBC or across the USA - are offered to the global community of podcasters with no strings attached. An experienced dramatist and abridger, with more than 50 BBC radio dramatisations under his belt, Neville Teller not only presents 10 of his scripts, but also explains something of how a radio drama script is crafted. Audio Drama fills a niche that will appeal on both sides of the pond, and more widely in the whole English-speaking world. www.troubador.co.uk/bookshop/media-the-arts/audio-drama/
I actually have something like this in mind, though its not MLP related. I pretty much have the story and characters down pat (pretty much everything is entirely original) and script writing seems like the easy part. Its all the technicals and getting a team together that's the problem for me. (I'm kind of nervous to try since I don't have any online presence) Its gonna be a very big story, and its a story I want to tell, but I'm having trouble getting the word out.
+Equestrian Sketcher ah yes, teasing can be a powerful tool ;) I've got a production blog going, and a friend of mine put together a list of potential actors. the blog is still a work in progress, but it's coming along well I think. I do not want to spoil too much of the story off the bat however, as I want to get a genuine sense of shock and surprise from the actors in their deliveries. (I wasn't kidding when I said the story will be big, I have multiple seasons in mind.) would you have any advice on how to accomplish that?
I'm so glad I found this video. I'm going to make an Audio Drama soon, and these tips are really helpful. Just one question, what program do you use for putting the sound and pictures together?
Thanks, Ashley! Ah didn't believe ye were such a proffesional, but it's cool ya are! EDIT: 1) That's the hardest.... Ah have almost everythin' in mah head, just need to arrange it.... that's why askin' fer help. 2) not there, besides me as the narrator? Will start thinkin' of this. 3) CHECK! Usin' the English translation of "Tale of the Dead Princess and 7 Champions" by Oliver Felton. 4) Very bad situation with this... also havin' a lot of other vids there... to have to be worked on. 5) IN QUESTION! Ah can do this, but never tried drawin' BG art before... we'll see. Better if ah have somepony's back. 6) CHECK! NONE! 7) Ah'm basic at this... so, yeah, that's kinda hard. 8) KInda easy, but never tried before (same as 5) 9) Sheesh... dunno. 10) Same as 7. 11) Dun care. CHECK! plus, it's not a series. Just a small audio snippet. 12) Not sure, but able to try. 13) MAYBE...CHECK!
