When my daughter was getting braces, the doctor locked the door from the waiting room. When I asked for it to be unlocked, they refused. The receptionist told me I could not see my daughter so I threatened to go over the counter. We changed Orthodontists after my daughter said she didn’t like him and the nurse said no one goes in the room with him. Not havin’ it.

@@SamI-lw9xp True, but I guess you can never be too sure. So many believe their spouses are incapable for doing terrible things because they believe to be so good. That's how so much child abuse goes undetected. That's how child victims grow up with even more issues, mental illnesses and thinking it was their fault, angry at the world, because their mothers and fathers (usually their mothers) refused to believe them about what their husband was doing to their child. With the type of world we live in, we can never instantly be too sure, especially when it's happening/happened in your own home. I personally wouldn't blame her for checking with me if I were married to her. Especially if I weren't the biological parent. If I were the parent, I'd rather be safe than sorry and potentially ruin the kid's life even more.

Until the person you’re accusing is innocent. What the mother did was great for her daughter, but terrible for her marriage. If I was that man, I could NEVER trust my wife with anything after that. I’d be going straight to the courthouse to file for papers, and find a partner that does trust me. If she has trust issues, and would actually consider her life partner that she has made vows to, she has no business in a marriage, and she needs to focus on raising her daughter. Don’t drag an innocent man into your house, then accuse him of attacking your daughter when YOU didn’t protect her.

@Louis Kingsta You also must know, statistically, kids have a 50% percent high chance of general abuse from their mother. Besides, this wasn't the daughter falsely accusing the step dad. While it sucks for the step dads, they understand why their wife would pick their child over them... And she just jumped into that without any allegations is what feels so wrong and dirty. And bad people know they're doing bad things, it might be best to not increase their chances of them hurting your kids if single moms are a bad judge of character. If she can't trust him 100%, or he's at least not the FIRST person she'd just to thinking did this, that's horrible. And my boyfriend got abused by his mom, put in the foster care system, and was graped in his single digits age. His dad eventually was one of the first men to get full custody of their kid, but it wasn't soon enough. He doesn't exactly love his mom as much as his dad.

I don't want to scare you, but after I was assaulted as a kid, I overheard my mother say to the police "I have 5 daughters, it's not a matter of If, it's just When" and I felt so betrayed in that moment that she didn't warn me - that nobody warned me - that it caused me a lot of emotional and psychological trauma. Please warn your daughter about this sort of thing, and do it younger than you think, younger than you want to. I was 9, and that year was the first year in school that we had sex-ed. thankfully I already knew at that age that what happened wasn't my fault and would never be my fault, but that's more my autism speaking than anything my parents or society instilled in me - in fact I remember having to constantly affirm that I knew it wasn't my fault to others when I spoke about it, which cast more doubt in my mind than the original incident (again likely the autism). But yeah, just to make my point again; for me at least, not being warned felt like my mother didn't care about me enough to warn me, or assumed I would know how to handle it bc I was 'so mature for my age' etc, and it felt and still feels like the ultimate betrayal in our relationship. Edit: I finished the clip (paused to type comment) and saw the mum talking about wanting to protect her innocence - I understand that, but at least for myself personally, I would rather have my parent gently peel back my innocence in a safe environment then have it brutally ripped away from me on a street corner surrounded by strangers, or in my house after the fact overhearing conversation about myself with the cops. Please, anyone who reads this; treat your kids like adults, with full autonomy and rights to information (in an age appropriate format) about what could happen. We talk about traffic safety and general stranger danger already with kids, but we don't talk about s*xual stranger danger with girls, and that's something I personally needed the most when I was a child.

@@Mr.Brightside83They were told beforehand that they were not allowed in the room; that's assuming they'll be in the way which is VERY strange: young kids often behave better in medical check ups or procedures if their parents are in the room with them, because their parents can reassure them that it will be okay. Because of that, not allowing the parents to come in right from the start is a huge red flag in my opinion. The assumption that parents will get in the way only makes sense when the person doing the procedure is unprofessional and frequently gives parents a reason to intervene by not treating the kids well. A small number of parents do get in the way when they shouldn't, those can get send out when they do that. And they can wait outside at following appointments.

thats one reason why ive never been put to sleep at a dentist office. i just ask for some numbing and deal with the rest. my dentist was shocked when i told them i didnt want to go under while they pulled 4 of my teeth at the same time and had to use scalpels to cut my gums because of my roots being crooked. also the smell of cauterized gums will stick with you the rest of your life. never smelled anything else like it

It's really weird to me that people in the US are put under anesthesia for a tooth removal or braces. In Europe they just use local numbing, like why is being under even necessary? It just has not to hurt you, yes it does feel weird but so do many other procedures, you can survive it. My mom had a couple removed with just local numbing, and because no anesthesia was needed she also drove herself back home as soon as they finished. Much less trouble for everyone involved.

Good detective work is to rule out suspects like the step dad, especially since most crimes like this are committed by someone the victim knows and trust. It's also good police work to not try to make it stick with no evidence just to get a conviction, that's where justice dies, and sadly that happens far too often. This is exactly how it should be done.

My daughters pediatrician gave me a creepy feeling.. something about him was always weird. When is bring my girls in I was breastfeeding and he offered to let me stay and feed my baby in his doctor room before leaving.. and I thought I found a camera after he said that and it scared me. But it was a standard camera, it was a small hidden lens in the cabinet that was locked. I never ever let the that man even touch my daughters without me right there holding their hands. I told my husband we were going to switch their doctor only seen him a few times I just wasn’t risking it. Days before notifying the office I recieved a letter from the place he worked saying he was no longer allowed to treat under age patients… when I went to the office he claimed it was because he was retiring. My shirt was ringing wet from fighting to come out, no one in the room but him and I saw him in the corner looking horrified. As usual no parent had come with me and I was so alone. Years later I requested the orthodontist give me his name. He had his wife call up and say my file was lost in a flood in his basement. Cowards and criminals. (Alleged of course).

Both the mom and stepdad did everything they could for the child. @@StealthMode3924 it’s a tricky situation. I think it’s a damned if you do and damned if you don’t. There is no way to know the right thing to do. You can only do what you think is best for your child. I know I would want to know if it happened to me, but I understand the parents wanting to wait telling her for her mental health. In their mind they are doing what’s best. While I would be upset if they kept it from me, I’d like to think I could understand with time that they were trying to protect me even if they did it the wrong way in my mind.
