Once again someone has taken an older home with character and changed it into a grey and white wonder. Let's hope whoever purchased it added some colour and personality.
Lots of room, the small size of the house as seen in front belies how big it really is. Love the front porch railing as well. I for one do enjoy grays, because neutral colors in the floors and walls afford the chance to add changeable splashes of color throughout the house.
I feel like Joan Crawford from Mommie Dearest when I see those things! No More Wire (ventilated) Shelving! while I snatch them out of the closet & run to toss them in the junk pile.
I'm so sick of gray everywhere. When will it go out of style? It's cold and impersonal. Doesn't fit with the 1930s bones of the home. Shame they painted over the wood walls in the dining room area. No thanks. All that with dark stained floors is not my cuppa.
Funny, I was just telling someone that gray flooring is a fad (for about 5 years now) that is going to be SO outdated very soon. I do love the dark wood floors but they are a lot to maintain, especially if you have pets. They look dusty every couple of days. I can't help but notice that bathroom is VERY much in the style of Psycho.
@@NosyHausfrau I thought it was just me. I've seen floors stained dark that eventually wear down in high traffic spots showing lighter wood underneath. Hard to maintain not just in cleaning! Also, it's all just so dang COLD. None of my furniture or textiles would go with gray. I'd have to totally repaint everything before moving in. Besides, fads come and fads go. This gray will evolve and no longer be stylish in a matter of not much more time considering it's been around for a number of years now. Back in the late 80s I remodeled a facility, and the colors popular then were seafoam green and pinkish gray. Lately, I've looked for some time in a particular area of the country, and all the houses that were bought by investor to flip that were s in need of updating must have used the same designer. They are all cookie cutter gray with the same back splashes, stainless kitchen, dark floors, and any original design of the homes blotted out. This area gets cold and wet in the winter, and one wants to come home to a warm fire and warm toned walls and floors, not as if they were entering an iceberg. If I see gray, I immediately move on to another.
I have to agree with you. Enough gray already & enough with the subway tile! (I've been on a NY subway-gross.) I'm not a big fan of farmhouse sinks or barn doors either. Dark floors might be a nice contrast but it also darkens the home in my opinion. Anyway, just thought I'd mention I heard on HGTV the other day, I won't mention the name of the show the twins star in, but one told a homeowner, in response to "no gray, please" that gray is going, going & nearly gone! (paraphrased)
Trends and color schemes come and go. I'm just stating my preferences,. It sold over a year ago. Even so, there are still lots of houses with gray. Still, it's just a matter o time when it too will go out of style. I remodeled a commercial facility back years ago, and then seafoam green and peach were popular.@Jewel Clark I prefer warm tones, not cold, stark depressing grays.
