I will never understand what Alex was thinking. At 15 seconds he needs to break the tie up and force Villarreal to shoot from a distance. If Villareal gets a takedown then Alex concedes and goes to his belly. Or run and take the stall warning. But there is no excuse for getting caught like that. A mental breakdown. The biggest choke in the history of California high school sports.

Really? So if you're about to tech a kid and get caught and end up getting stuck, does that make him the better wrestler? No. No one on this video can honestly say nikko would win a rematch against cisneros.
Cisneros must be the absolute best sport ever, the kids just lost his dream of being a 4 timer in one of the hardest states and took that loss like a real man, no pouting, screaming, storming off, he seems like a true class act
The one who wins is the one who is better. That's why we have wrestling matches. You seem to think people should be given first place medals based on emotions instead of their performance on the mat.
Nikko is good as shit, I'm not taking anything away from him, he's a state champ. I was just pointing out how stupid he looks when the enitre state of cali just watched him get dominated for 95% of the match.

yea yea nikko beat cisneros once. Cisneros has beaten him several times and is a better wrestler by far. At Flonationals alex went up a weight and won. Nikko got 7th. Nikko will never be as good as Alex cisneros PERIOD!
Shouldn't have gotten in a tie up with 10 seconds left? Did you watch the video? Cisneros was tied up with Villarreal way before 10 seconds were left. And why would Cisneros think otherwise, anyhow? That was just an amazing 5-pointer by Villareal.
Their performance on the mat? Did you not just watch Alex dominate the match up until the final 4 seconds? You defend Nikko like he is the better wrestler. What if Alex just ran away for the last 10 seconds and won the match, would you still say Nikko is the better wrestler?

Cisneros was probably upset and didn't want to shake hands. Ref probably told him either to be a good sport or that he's a badass and not to worry about it...
i feel bad for cisneros, hes such a chill dude, and has worked his ass off for four years in being a great wrestler and great student. good luck at cornell
I wasn’t following wrestling during this time (I have a good friend whose son was a wrestler so I starting following and found out BUCHANAN is really good and such), but did Nikko get Most Outstanding Wrestler for this one match?
You're right I apologize, he's lucky he caught Alex off guard. He is still not better than Cisneros. If they would've wrestled 20 mins after this match, Alex would've won hands down.
When you beat the best, then you are the best. Nobody "deserves" anything. Wrestling is not some affirmativ action program you get for "being you". Winner takes all. Crybabies shouldn't be on the mat.
He finished 3rd as a freshman and after this match went on to win 2 more state championships. I'd say he ended up as one of the best in California, all time.
