I don’t suppose you did any dyno pulls before and after ? I’ve got a cammed b16b that’s making good numbers and I’m convinced it’s going to find some more top end when given a 3inch cat back. It’s currently running a hytec try-y replica system, which has been fairly stable for me, but having watched a few videos on this header today. It’s got me wondering.
dc2blair I didn’t get anything from before but this setup with stage 1 cams made 196whp, 134 trq. That was on a dyno jet and i feel like it read a little high since on the street it feels a little sluggish for 200whp, but it just may be that its a full weight integra with an LS trans. In process of finishing the dyno vid, should be up soon
Max Herman thanks for the response. My b16b with skunk2 tuner 2 cams is a pure race car, with a spoon short ratio gearbox. I’m interested in gains high in the rpm. I’m currently running the Try-Y. But but like most exhaust manifold videos on the internet there is little evidence to back up what was better or not. I intend to do back to back pulls with both a 2.5 inch decat and a 3inch, with a tune tweak to level the AFRs.
dc2blair sounds interesting. Let me know what you find out when you do it. I heard that the replica headers lack the mid range that the genuine headers have. Coincidentally enough my dyno graph shows the powerband dip/level off beetween 5750-6750 rpm and pick back up after that all the way to 8500. So i think the replicas do have there drawbacks. But im not sure im willing to pay $1200 for a real hytech
Max Herman agreed. I had a skunk2 alpha that never the dip my replica does. And that made 200 whp on a stock b18c. the other annoyance is that the 1320 headers don’t seem to be commonly available in the UK. Postage is pretty pricey !
@@dc2blairCheck this out bro. It's an old thread so I'm sure you probably have seen it before. honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/budget-header-showdown-replica-headers-vs-skunk2-alpha-1-8l-dyno-test-3005484/ How much power did the B16B make? Hmm I'm jealous cuz I don't have a Honda anymore. I would like a B18C EG h/b.
I think I remember the EK chassis having more room in the engine bay so maybe it will fit but i dont know for sure. It really is a quick easy job to pull the manifold off and set the other one up to see if it fits. You can probably do it in less than an hour or two
Back pressure itself is not a myth, it does exist. It is the claim that you need back pressure in your exhaust that is the myth and this claim has been disproven many times by very credible sources. Many people confuse back pressure for proper exhaust scavenging and velocity, they are not the same.
