I remember doing my first head gasket. It was my first car a ‘90 dodge Daytona I got for $200. Dropped a rocker bolt through the head into the oil pan. It was the last one too. I was maybe 2 hours from starting this car. Took 2 days and a whole lot of frustration to get the new oil pan gasket to stay put during install. Lesson learned
Solid video I’m Going to do the same thing with stock cam gears but I’m switching all my internals to mimic the p73 including the ecu. Picked these cams because they are legal For me in California and also did the skunk2 manifold 🔥 👍🏾
I have a USDM GSR wtih a usdm b18C.. jdm header/downpipe, stock IM. I've been wanting to add type r cams (or skunk2, i guess)..what other mods/tweaks are needed to get the most of it and protect the engine?
How exactly did that pin get past the 4 pistons in the block ?? Making its way to oil pan is expected but not before landing on top of your piston, just cant figure this out after seeing it inside oil pan and nothing in bottom end was removed ?
Ur a beast man! Have had my gsr for 12 years now rebuilt to oem specs and man now i know what i paid for to get done. Thanks for sharing. And much respect. I think this was harder than the turbo install. Looking to do a similiar setup in the near future. How is ur avg mpg btw? And at how many lbs ?
D S this setup all motor got roughly 35 mpg. Now that it is boosted it runs at 10 psi peak and if i dont get on it i still get about 35 mpg. It all depends on how often and how much i get into it, boost requires a lot more fuel so it can change it drastically
Yes, that is what i was saying, it was a passive comment for the smart ass youtube trolls who were going to say i needed adjustable cam gears. Although, i did install adjustable cam gears later on and i gained a respectable amount of midrange without sacrificing any top end power just by closing the overlap by a couple degrees. Took it from a 14sec car to a 13 sec car
HaterHurter sirG345 lol, exactly. I was just being sarcastic for the “experts” who usually comment and tell me im wrong because they read it in a forum somewhere.
My stock LMA where fine. I upgraded to the spring type because they generally run quieter and with higher lift cams the spring type help rebound the rocker faster
@@maxherman4174 But Skunk2 recommends to upgrade them regardless, if my memory serves correct. I thought you went cause of street driven. I'm starting to do research since I can finally move onto upgrading the inside of the engine. Good video though. Thanks.
poloi poloi1988 Alot of people use S2 pro stage 1 for turbo. Honestly, for turbo anything other than the OEM cams aren’t really necessary unless your going for some crazy high power
William Yang GSR transmissions are great. But i like the LS trans. People think LS trans cant be fast because the long gear ratios but that’s actually false. It all depends on your powerband. Thats my opinion. If i were doing auto cross or something I would for sure use a gsr trans
