In this adventure Redbeard reviews Darksiding after 14,000 miles.
I have ridden my 2010 Honda Gold Wing around the Pacific Northwest and across the country to Atlanta, Georgia, on this car tire. No decrease in performance but a few improvements.
If you are wondering why would anyone in their right mind put a car tire on a motorcycle or what it is like, then you've come to the right video.

Yeah ita all a debate. However everyone I have spoke to that decided to go darkside or even double darkside will never go back. All these people are gold wing riders. Tires are a rip off and I'm gonna start pulling a pet trailer so I need it. The nice thing about it is if you get a flat with a car tire just put in a plug and keep on going. I wouldn't never try that with a motorcycle tire. Well maybe to get to my destination then I would replace it. Big money saver. 💰

My 1994 GoldWing is basically 1000 pounds with no one sitting on it. Ad me and my gal on the back, and were over the weight limit of a standard bike tire. I love my Dark Side.....I will never go back for so many reasons.....however i would not recommend it to anyone with a bike under 750 to 800 pounds. My bike can flex the side wall........and Ninja, could not. And for those that love to argue the choice......i can drag pegs in the rain better now with it dark sided.....than i could with a bike tire.....200% better. Its a choice....maybe not yours, and i respect that. Keep in mind, at 56 and a very mild max lean on a goldwing.....im never dragging knee on the Dragon. Once you hit 50.....you no longer bounce.....you just lay there and make pathetic squeaking noises.......

@@AdventureswithRedbeard I am on a vstar1300 Deluxe ( Deluxe having a fairing and painted bags). I did try it, and lol , man I must say it was impressive. I ran a good year TT. I noticed that on my fav twisties (bear mountain here in ny) I could rub the boards through the turns with no issue. I had to build up my confidence though... Needed to feel that I could trust this thing. I did notice that you have to plan your entry a little early, it's easier to start your lean in earlier into the turn, getting the bike over on the edge of the CT, and then hit your apex, and exit. That was smoothest for me, but also a lot earlier than with a CT. I researched it all for about a year, and I read tons on the dark forum (which I am sure you have been on). I started at 40 then bumped down 2, and 2, got to 36, but didn't like it down there.. I liked 40psi most. It felt ... odd to say < Round lol. Only thing that I couldn't stand, and what drove me over was like you mentioned the following the grooves in the road ... that drove me up a wall. I ended up selling it to a buddy on the same/similar bike, who is still running around on it now.. he loves it hehe..

There is a lot of negative opinions on darksiding. I've not seen any strong negative facts. How is darksiding on the 1600GT? I wouldn't think it would be best for the car tire. I mainly think of car tires on cruisers and other bikes with around 45 degree lean angle.

OMG. That is so true. It's all personal preference. If someone does it why do they have to be judge by others. Makes no sense. To me a rider is a rider. I don't care what you ride, it's all a risk. So what does it matter with tires. It's like a big kid. I'm mad at you because you bought Addidas shoes and I wanted you to have Air Jordan's.

Back in the late 70s and early 80s we used to use the Goodyear powers streak to drag race because of the width of the tire for better traction off the line. Of course tire technology wasn’t as good as it is today for motorcycles. Today I drive a 2016 Goldwing as we discussed earlier in one of your other videos I just got back from a 8200 mile trip around the country. I need to change the Bridgestone Drive guard on the back of my bike, it’s bald. I have over 26,000 miles on it. Over a two-year period I have done the tail of the dragon, the Pacific coast, highway 120 in Idaho and 70 miles of off-road/logging trail.. i’ve been run off the road in the rain in New York was able to stop before hitting a guard rail. I can tell you from experience that if I had motorcycle tire on the rear, that motorcycle would never have stopped. Do I believe in the dark side used for heavy motorcycles and long distance riding, do you know my answer absolutely. I pull an 18 ft.³ all aluminum trailer and I have way better stopping capability. Cornering also has way better grip. I run 41 pounds of air pressure in the rear tire, which increases to 46 pounds with the road heat. Great video keep up the good work

I don't have enough data to answer this. I did switch over to a rear motorcycle tire on the front due to cupping. I was told by a tire guy that cupping is due to over loading. With about 15k the tread is still deep. How long do your front tires last?

@@AdventureswithRedbeard yeah I thought about that. Just getting a machine and doing it myself. It would pay for itself after 2 sets of tires. Lol. We thats purchasing the motorcycle tires from a dealer with install and balance.

@@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 I ordered the Olmax Motors machine made by Lukas in Poland. It takes a while to arrive, but it looks to be a great machine. Mine's in customs now, I ordered in February. Postal service appears to be slow on both sides.

Red Beard what is going to be the new car tire for us Darksiders since Bridgestone has stop making the Driveguard Run Flat
@AdventureswithRedbeard

I'm running a Kumho Majesty 9 Solus right now. It does look like Bridgestone will replace the Driveguard with the Driveguard Plus. I'll investigate another Run Flat Tire when this one is done. Do you have any favorite manufacturers?

Lakewood is not a town outside of Lakewood is an intersection , named after the AT+T exchange located there. Back in the 50s you would call someone and ask for Lakewood 123 . Phones were like party lines back then.
