Love him or loath him, no one can deny the fact that Jeremy Clarkson has done more to highlight the highs and lows of agriculture life today, including the daily drowning in red tape, rules, regulations and laws administered by a small minded minority who's need to be important while hiding their envy and bigotry behind a book of policy far outweighs their paid duty of making life better for the community and countryside.

I agree whole heartedly with your comments on Clarkson Love the comment about trees Just as a point of stats In the 70s there were just 4 billion people on the planet we were then making fields bigger up rooting trees etc to feed them Now we have a mere 8 billion and yes your right we are reversing that strategy plus 50 years of house and road building Government if you think you’ve got problems filling supermarket shelves this week and you have no food strategy well I rest my case 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ It’s about time they woke up and sneaky the coffee

With regard to the villagers; I grew up in a small Somerset village where a proportion worked in agriculture. And almost every kid worked on various farms growing up. Now virtually all the inhabitants have money and moved to a pretty country village. They have literally no idea about it but want the village to remain in the 20th century. And they have money and time to push this through. None have the brains to realise the 'countryside' is not made by nature but by farmers.

You are so right about Clarkson. The people in the council planning department clearly have loathing for him and decided to obstruct him in every way possible. I thought the council's job was to encourage businesses not hinder them. Also it would be interesting to find out how many of the complainers are genuine country people and not just townies would moved to the countryside for lifestyle, then immediately try to change it to what they think it should be, something we have t put up with almost every day. You, Clarkson and every other hard working farmer, keep up the good work. 💯👍

The council treat Jeremy like they do every other farmer. That's the point he's proving. He has money to fight them most farmers don't. We see the same in the States when asswipes move to the country then don't want to actually live in the country. Lawsuits against farmers supported by our "councils". If you move to the country, expect animal feces and tractors to go along with the open fields and wild birds. Don't like it, stay in the city.

Well said Ian...... Clarkson can be a right a**h*** but he's trying damn hard to make a go of it and at the same time helping to highlight the many problems others have to put up with when dealing with nimby, short sighted councillors. It's time councillors realised they are there to serve the whole of the community and not just a priviledged few.

Glad to hear your opinion of his local council matches mine. They got lucky, a golden goose landed in their economy, and a good will one at that, who genuinely seems to want to work with the community to make their local economy work for the benefit of the community, and for whatever reason they seem to be determined to kill that goose. Listening to the lass (dairy farmer) who has been screwed by TB losses, is heartbreaking, half her heard gone. She needs her community to step and help her with opportunities, like a local produce restaurant with star pulling power, and a national TV launch, but council couldn't care less. That entire 'co-op' operation of his deserved to be supported by the council, not blocked at every turn.

First video of yours I've seen and you are spot on. There are so many of us in the UK who are not farmers, but we just sort of support it, perhaps because, like me, we grew up in the country, worked a few farm hand jobs (I was once a 'sheep dog' in Cornwall on the farm next to my parent's house!! 😄), or perhaps we just appreciate hard work and we've no 'clap for farmers' like we perhaps should have some day. What I like about Clarkson's farm is, it isn't actually about him at all. He's doing a documentary like when he made his series on war heroes, "the greatest raid" or the VC won by his former father in law. He is eulogising farmers. And he does it well.

It is because they can not trust him to stick to any conditions, as he broken all the local produce ones a lot more than a few t shirts the place is merched to the max, and he has turned the lambing shed into an eating merchandise place without permission. Plus 70 spaces not enough when you have 500 cars turning up. I wish someone would point out the facts to people instead of what was put across in show, I don't even like councils they can be petty etc, but in this case they have been more than reasonable.

I’m staggered by the interference by the counsel to stop him at every turn! Yet, I can understand the reluctance of many to be in love with the incredible increase in traffic. However, at this point, working together, they could have worked out many of the issues. Very sad…

Councils like nothing more than to be a talking shop, small-minded people who enjoy the sound of their own voices or people who got involved in local politics due to a fixation with one particular issue, they then find yhemselves making decisions on things they have no interest in and will simply toe the majority line. On a personal level i had one very amusing interaction with a councillor who would not give me a straight answer to a very simple question. The information was actually publicly available. With my work, I've been on the periphery of some real Council craziness as well. The paid staff, building inspectors, tree officers, clerks, etc, are usually really good, but the actual councillors are often moronic and small-minded.

@FarmerP
@FarmerP Год назад
This is why Clarksons farm is so important to us, You watched it because it was Clarkson being his usual self, and learned a whole load of stuff about how difficult it can be to get food on your table.... And he's only scratched the surface. British farming is tied up with rules and regulation, plus a raft of high standards that dont cover many of the foods imported from other countries..... Which is why many of them are cheaper than home produced. We have to compete in an unfair market, farm subsidies were introduced to help balance the books, as in keep food cheap in the supermarket, they are now being withdrawn so farmers are having to look for new income streams or loose their home and livelihood... The councils are not helping.

The council generally is stuck in an envious middle England time warp and if there is such a thing as accountability and democracy they should be voted out and replaced with more forward thinking individuals. Support should given to developing cooperatives and supporting good quality local farm produce. If this Russian conflict has taught us anything is the power of being self reliant in terms of food production, industry and steel etc.

They all peck at dead badgers ie road kill, they fly for miles and drink out of troughs, magpies peck on sheep’s wool and then sheep drink out off water troughs , anyway hope all goes well for you.

Its true, some of it is egged up for TV, they need the views to pay for the production and pave the way for another series, its entertainment for the masses, but within the fooling about is a deep and serios message... And I think its getting across.

Trouble is Ian, as you said, Clarkson says what a lot of people think and these days it don't wash anymore. So if he has been offhand with the coucil then calling them 'morons' is not going to make them change their minds. I know some council people can be a bit 'power crazy'. I personally can't stand Clarkson, but that's just my opinion.
