I don’t mind spending a bit more for food when it’s really really good… but when you spend like £12 on a burger & its actually quite poor & you wished you just went to maccies. That’s annoying… been many burger places, meat joints & bbq type restaurants & more times than not have I been disappointed, then further disappointed when I get the bill of my poor experience.. This food looks incredible! Looks incredible value for money
As of today, 23rd March 2024. If you went to a Whetherspoons and got a Chicken tikka Masala, which is essentially a bowl of rice, some chicken and tikka masala sauce (they don’t have a chili con carne) it would cost £9.84.. yes with a soft drink.. but that’s 9.84 for a microwaved meal essentially. Nothing wrong with it, not dissing Spoons! But! For an extra. £2.16 you get clarksons farm chili con carne type meal, that has got a lot more ingredients, higher quality ingredients at that.. this is actually incredible value.. I need to go!
The Council: " your customers parking everywhere is a nuisance, and endangering road safety". Clarkson *applies for building a sufficient car park". Council: "no.". Absolute gathering of nincompoops
Yeah but notice the letter in his hand had no council header on it...I work for the council and we don't use those words he read out, they would have quoted what section he has breached etc.
It's great to see people at the Farm Shop in the video. The town council being so much against Jeremy Clarkson and his restaurant is a shame considering how many local farmers and businesses would have benefitted from the larger restaurant opening.
@@HeatMyWords Watching that section of the series is maddening. Struggling farmers can benefit from the restaurant, but it's apparent the town has a vendetta against Jeremy Clarkson, and they will stop at nothing to hold him back and hurt other farmers in the process.
@@thecorporatepilotdad he’s bringing in local farmers, helping them grow their business for future generations. Wait until a petition and everyone goes against the town
My son and his mate went last year, and they had the burger. He raved about it and said it wasn't very expensive either..Its just so sad that everyone is against what they are doing. Clarkson is doing all he can to produce everything himself and doing his best to sort out all the issues. I just wished he'd get more support.
Jeremy has lost a lot of money on this, no other farmer would be able to fund a farm restaurant like this at this price/quality. Fair play to him but it sucks that it's not really a viable option for others.
@@HeatMyWords Maybe but they would have to charge more than Jeremy does for sure. Also he had like 8 chefs working which is crazy most restaurants that serve triple the amount of people only have 4-5 working at one time. If Jeremy didn't have the show the restaurant wouldn't be a viable option. A normal farmer wouldn't have the exposure either so getting in customers would also be hard to begin with.
This program was awarded for making farming more popular. And that's the truth - I am living in a big city, never really been to a farm, never really knew what the farmers are actually doing and how much work it is, but i am into cars - so i thought that i might watch this Clarkson Farm, because - i just love Clarkson. And after watching this, i realized, how much farmers got to do to just grow anything, and i have gained a lot of respect to them!
As a life long farmer, I think every single person who eats food needs to watch Clarkson's Farm. It is hilarious and funny, but achingly heartbreaking for us farmers to show there are few of us left to feed or clothe the rest (our Texas cotton farms have been shut down due to drought this year). And the goverment regulations in the UK?! My grandfather would be shocked. We did/do what we want on our land. Btw, I am not a jealous person, but those cows he has are gorgeous and the prettiest cows I've ever seen. We raised angus and Brangus for beef.
@Heat My Words thats the impression i get whenever I watch the show and hear him talking about the local council. Just a bunch of people who need to shut up and let people earn a living
Clarkson is one of the few celebrities that I have loads of respect for. For his philanthropic works to help out British farmers and helping out locals is nothing short of altruistic. If only there were celebrities in Yankee land that would bring awareness and to help stop Bill Gates from buying up loads of farmland.
If the town council allowed JC to expand his car park, there wouldn’t be an issue with cars parked on the road. Seems like they’re good at causing their own problems.
@@alangordon1677 no, that's Oxfordshire County Council. The 15 minute thing isn't really a thing anyway. Don't get me wrong, they're just as shit as West Oxfordshire Council.
@@nyambe Yea, it's so mind numbing to watch them suffering - literally people that grow the food. We're only having more and more and more government encroachment in the US, but, man, it's quite literally unbelievable over there, I honestly don't know how the ag industry even gets anything done. I'm not exactly a "big ag apologist", there's some systemic issues that need to be fixed; but the insane level of regulation over there is NOT how you do it. And the thing is that this isn't a coordinated top down conspiracy, this is just layers and layers and layers and layers of bureaucracy & regulation being added without any actual communication with(or even acknowledgment of) the people that are most affected, and then the "just doing my job" people come in and enforce it while watching the impact themselves and just shrugging their shoulders. It literally takes a big budget show like this to get the attention of the right people, and enough attention, before anyone even begins to think about solving all of these issues. Incredibly frustrating to watch.
Many residents of Chipping Norton don't want to be on the Map...many on the local council are probably NIMBYs.The fact is the Clarkson's Farm is immensely successful. You'd think the local authority would be happy about the injection of revenue....It looks damn hard work...so good luck to Mr Clarkson...
@@arandomchannel56 A few of the villagers possibly don’t need the money, however I’m sure the farming community will be happy with other avenues to make money…..ie:- Jeremy’s idea of a co-operative.
Awesomely funny and i binge watched all of the 2nd series yesterday and its fuckin awesome, i luv how every time Gerald said anything Clarkson just said 'hmm yeah' how anyone can understand him is beyond me.. 🤣😂
when your foreign and watch with subtitles, gerald's sentences aren't even subtitled, made it 10 times more funny, only in the last episode i think near the end he is subtitled once, and that's the only time i understood a sentence instead of just words.
I don’t think Jeremy is a man who sets out to deliver disappointment,if the food isn’t good enough or value for money,I don’t reckon he would sell it to the public, seems a top man to me 😀🍺🇬🇧
Its great to see people supporting British agriculture and thankyou to Jeremy, other tv farm shows and to all our uk farmers for their hard work, mind numbing hours of labour and effort and lack of pay for providing us with good produce from BRITAIN AND NOT IMPORT ❤
Well said. But unfortunately the government provide better costs for import than their own. They should put tax on imported food over UK produced stuff
@@HeatMyWords its not just import costs though, it's labour, mechanical engineering, livestock, feed, vets, seed. Part of my family own 2 farms here and a family member have corn and angus farm on the isle of white so i know the ins and outs 👍
The council is a pompous punitive disgrace. They should be ashamed but that’s probably not in their snobby wheelhouse. The restaurant would have helped several struggling neighbouring farmers and employed many ppl from the village.
I’m in Canada. Clarkson is probably the most acerbic, opinionated, insulting celebrity I can think of, and is also the most entertaining and fun to watch as well. I still miss Top Gear (all three of them, not just him).
Love it! Nice honest review!. They probably employ locals to work in the Cafe and shop too and use produce, from other local farms. Good on Clarkson and company!.. It's probably 'tall Poppy' syndrome by some locals that he's a success!.
Just binge watched Jeremy’s farm for the first time last night from 🇨🇦 and found you guys this morning - perfect! In the comments you mentioned if you were smart, you would open a biz up the road. I think you’ve done it, mate. Cheers 🍻 🐄
The locals are stuck up old snobs afraid of any change. Because it's a wealthy area, the locals are lucky to get a choice. Poorer areas get no choice at all with what gets built nearby. Definitely visiting the farm. Thank you Jeremy for educating us on farm and farming issues.
Whats really good about Diddly Squat shop and restaurant, despite the locals naivety, is the fact it stops the farm shutting down and being sold to developers.
Clarkson is a legend, a seriously funny guy everything he has done on tv is top class. And I can’t wait to visit the farm and try his food, the locals just need ti relax and let him crack on. Keep it up Jeremy 👍🏻
Your so right we went to his farm and loved it .Yes let’s forget about this negativity it’s all good news coming out of Jeremy’s farm. The lavender field is also a great treat to go to.
Good to see it going well and people are supporting it. It would be great if everyone supported local farm shops as times are tough for all. Most locals hate farm shops as they say it caters to the townies and wealthier set. Be lucky it’s a farm shop and restaurant there and not done mosque, religious Centre or better still refugee holding Centre in makeshift tents! Lol
now the local try to force them to close the restaurant! dont give him the permission to build a carpark and giving him so much hard time. As u can see everyone, good food and beer, his team really deliver well.
Yeah. Its so weird, the village council seems to be just a bunch of old fossils that are more concerned about dying in a quiet nowhere place than breathing life into the local area. If you wanna die quiet and alone just find a residential home you know what I mean?
Damned shame that a wealthy villager (who doesn't farm) and those officious zealots on the planning committee ignored the dire financial situation that the farmers in that area find themselves in, to let their prejudice stop the restaurant. They all live in an area of outstanding natural beauty only because the farmers have created it. Bloody shameful.
That's a really good stance on it. I agree with you. It's a jealously thing that someone has beaten them to an idea. Got jobs for local residents, built a shop that support local produce and brings more revenue to the town. If I was smart, I would create a business just up the round that would compliment this as I know it would bring the footfall (flowers etc..)
Imagine if it was anyone else doing this and achieved this kind of result, they would’ve treat the guy like a god. Rather than stopping him from doing anything, So sad to see in the show how the council hinders development. I can only imagine what he could’ve achieve if the locals supported him. 50 employed ppl is 50 families supported. I really do hope what he’s doing could continue. I’m in Australia, and I want to have a taste of that food, contemplating going for a visit. I wish he can get the beer down here.😂
Can I ask when this was filmed? I know the shop has just reopened, (feb 10th) but wondering if the cafe part is still available as it’s not mentioned on their website. Great review 👍
@@HeatMyWords oh wow. They will have a kick lol. I visited on Monday got the Diddly Squat coffee & range of Hawkstones. Taste fantastic. Highly recommended
What an awesome farm and co-op of farmers. I've been watching season 2 and don't understand the counsel . They refuse everything and don't want any one to even make a living. I grew up on a dairy farm and watched many many small farmers go under 😢. Enjoy watching and I subscribed. From New Mexico 🌶️
@@HeatMyWords np dude and hopefully, One thing i would say is be careful when you say things like "Sods the locals" A lot of them were actually on his side in the end, as someone who lives in a wee town up here in Scotland, it came across juuuust a touch abrasive xD But other than that loved it ;)
@@BugattiONE666 good feedback 😂 I did ask someone there how the relationship and he said not great. They’re really against the idea and as you may see in the news, have to close to restaurant. We all start somewhere
Nice review. Love Clarkson's Farm, binge watched both series as soon as they were available. But I can see both sides; Jeremy wants to make a profit, but if I was a rich person living in my sleepy village of Chipping Norton I'd absolutely hate that it was suddenly a lot busier with traffic.
I’m a poor (not rich) person living in the lovely (and not at all sleepy) village of Chadlington, and yes the parked up road both sides on a busy day can be a total nightmare - just hoping I or my loved ones never have a heart attack or a house fire on a busy day at the farm shop as I’ll be waiting forever for an ambulance or fire engine to get through. . . and that’s the problem most of us in the village have, we have nothing against someone who’s already been our neighbour for years building a farm shop, we just want our main access route in and out of our village to be clear enough to drive through properly as we always have (I’ve lived here for 48 years). We have loads of celebrities living round here, always have done because the area and community here are nice ). The area is a real mixed bag of wealth and working class people and we all rub along nicely together generally (mind you, most celebrities round here don’t call all their neighbours morons and other names in print, that wasn’t very kind or helpful). PS I’ve watched both series of Clarkson’s Farm and loved most of it too - obviously not so much the bits that are so heavily edited that they give a very one sided view, against the village and the local district council but it’s his show.
I'm really thinking about driving down from the northeast just to go eat at the farm I would love to meet Jeremy love watching his shows .. thanks for the food review makes me what to go more now
@@HeatMyWords getting Jeremy on your channel would be amazing he's my favourite TV presenter I really hope he's at the farm when I go I'd love to have a chat and maybe get a photo with him 😊
Should add, literally NO reason I need to watch about England's food scene. I live in Canada 🇨🇦. Not like I could take a drive around and enjoy any of it. 😕
@Heat My Words No idea, I am from the Netherlands and thus have no idea about nice places in the UK myself. But... maybe one place. Does James May still have his pub, The Royal Oak, Swallowcliff? You could try that next!
As pointed out Jeremy should be given credit as he is bringing in trade to a dead area, locals are just jealous their cash register is not pinging which is crux of matter,
Well, it's mainly the council. But don't delegitimise some locals' concerns. That's their home. Maybe they liked it quiet and are afraid it might not be anymore. I'm sure it'll work itself out in the end.
When was this shot/made etc... I'm confused about the operational status on the farm shop area ? Open, closed, what's the current deal ? I'm under the impression that the whole thing is shut down because of the discriminatory council ?
Wait is this a new recording? I thought the town council shut him down, and all I could find on google said "permanently closed" Also why are you only at 1.8k subs? Content and quality of the video deserves more.
I hope that Diddly Squat stays in business!! Farm to table is just the best! Let’s ALL reduce our carbon footprint! I binged watched the 2nd season. Long live the farm store and restaurant!
