Whoever was doing these pedal videos, please come back! The world needs your videos and insights again! Loved a lot of these but very surprised by and now a fan of a few I had never heard of before (Blue Hippo, Carl Martin Classic, TC Electronic Gravy)
It's so hard to decided between Walrus and JHS, both incredible pedals, hope im gonna find a store that have both pedals to try side by side :D P.S. Carl Martin have also amazing sound for the price, footprint and design is just not my cup of tea :(
Had that one and sold it to make money for a Cosmichorus.... then needed the money and my next one would be a CE2. Did you ever get to compare the Sea Chorus to the Cosmichorus?
That was Amazing. Really well-done, & very fair. I love chorus. I use the F.T.T. Tri-Avatar ( best I'ver eve heard ) = Alex Lifeson in-a-box. I'd also include: Analogman Bi-Chorus, Tortuga Martini, & The Shiva little Wave for the Landau thing. Boss Waza, DC-2W & Jam Waterfall are also great.
I'm a massive massive Rush fan (Lifeson fan too obviously) and I own the CE-2w and it nails that hemispheres tone. I also have seen the inspire by neunaber which looks INCREDIBLE for mid 80s Lifeson tones. Seriously, check out that pedal. It is a tri chorus on crack
Prefer the Julia sound wise. But the JHS has so many extra features, especially the expression pedal, being able to change rate under foot swung it for me....
Man I got goosebumps when the first pedal was engaged. Really nice loop you recorded there. You have a way of doing very lovely loops that make me feel nostalgic (guess it’s a 90s vibe) and they never get on my nerves after listening to the whole video.
I insist! The best and more informative demos up there. Man, you care to put the price of each pedal! that's how good it can get. Congrats and thank you. I also like most the Hermida Audio... got it the right book...unbeatable! :-)
to my ears, the boss waza craft, jhs, and gravy are the best. gravy seems like a great budget friendly option that has tons of great features found in much more expensive pedals
Just woke up , opened youtube and found this beautiful video , at last a great recommendation from youtube Thank you for the demo man Great gloomy riff too Subscribed ❤️
All the boss chorus sound best to my ear. But i have played roland / boss gear since the 70s, so i may be biased. But the best sound pedal chorus I ever had was a cheap Arion SCH-1 chorus made in late 80s
My brother got me, a huge pedal nerd, the TC Electronics Gravy last year as a gift. I had never heard of it, somehow, but goddamn he nailed it. That might be the best, most subtle, gentle chorus I've ever heard. Of course it can go extreme if you want it to... but to me the Gravy really excels if you're looking for a sparkly polish on your tone.
Great comparisson and great taste in literature. I'm loving the Catalinbred Callisto. By the way, about the piece played in the video, was it While my guitar gently weeps based on the acoustic version/demo by George Harrison. I love that song.
Andy Jor me too. I’m just realizing how much bette the Callisto is than everything else. I also just realized the Karma Sutures is an amazing fuzz and the Naga Viper Treble booster which is just bought is incredible too. I’m about to replace several pedals I own with Catalinbread.
@@jordandangelo180 I love catlinbread but their pedals can be very authentic, to the point of being annoying (noise issues on the Belle deluxe for example). That being said, I love my belle epoch (non deluxe) and that company. I just feel like I'm too busy tweaking with my pedal than actually playing when I am using their stuff. It's almost too fun and not a pedal anymore lol
great comparison! I have the Blue Hippo and love it (I need something simple!). Keeley Seafoam and Digitech ventura are sweet too, but the Blue Hippo is awesome. Great vid!
PB, I hope you’ll be able to make more videos in the upcoming year. Enjoy your approach very much. No nonsense and refreshingly free of any pretense and ego.
Great video, but there's an issue with the Carl Martin Classic Chorus: that sample was done in "vibrato only" mode. Red light without the green light is vibrato only, red and green lights both on is chorus (that's what you were looking for here), and green light without the red is "chorus mode, but the pedal is being bypassed." The red light must be on if the pedal is engaged, and green means that chorus is engaged.
The fact that the TC gravy is a stereo type of pedal is awesome , I loved its tone and I loved the low rate ... that's the one I just got , because of this video . Thanks man , you made my choice easy cause I just wanted to see which one would fit my style best ... the tc is totally the one I loved the most , I was lucky to find this video cause I had so many doubts about which one to get .
honestly I didn't get it cause it was cheap , I mean it's cool that I got it for cheap , but I liked it cause its stereo and I wanted it to be in between my verb and my delay , both are stereo, and with a Julia I couldn't do that . Idk how much the retail was originally , cause it was discontinued and so the only option I had was to get it used , I got it for 60 bucks used . I think that if new would have had a pricetag of 150 or 200 I'd still pay for it . Cause I'm loving it , TC makes some expensive pedals , but some cheap too , and they always deliver quality . I'll do a video review on this pedal soon .
@@joesee1944 very cool. Yeah I am just now starting to realize that I should go for a stereo chorus instead of mono. Which is actually good because it is helpful in narrowing down my search. Thanks for the insight. And I'm looking forward to seeing the vid when you make it.
Great video! I'm in the market for a new chorus pedal and this video has opened my eyes to a whole bunch brands I was very unaware of. Which one was your favorite ? I'm having a hard time deciding.
It's tough to decide! There's so many. I often think a Boss pedal for chorus is a good way to go. I have the CE-2w, and the JAM WaterFall which is kind of like the Boss. But I have been swayed a lot by the JHS Emperor v2. I like it's EQ control.
The Pedal Bored That Jam Waterfall did sound great! I never even heard of that company before this video. But that Blue Hippo and Julia also caught my ear for sure. Oh and the Caitlinbread & Carl Martin! Geeez..... there's just too many choices. LoL
KyleKoz13 The Julia is certainly catching the attention of a lot of people at the moment - it's on many, many pedal boards - but for me it's a little too bright. The Way Huge is definitely a great start, it's so simple.
The Pedal Bored The Pedal Bored I really liked the Waterfall, the Rotary Reverb because of the warble, the Julia sounds cool, but yeah too bright. The blue Hippo had a really cool vibe and I liked the simplicity. Callisto is cool, but I thought the Stonefish and Emperor were full and lush. Dare I say the Carl Martin was almost not enough?! I never say that about chorus. The Fairfield would be awesome for any band doing some tripped out stuff. I’m blown away at just how much I liked some of these. I think I’d aim for the Waterfall, Stonefish, or Blue Hippo though.
Your playing is always beautiful and calming. I can listen to your channel all day! For this demo I agree that the busy strumming may not have showcased the pedals as well as if you played sustaining chords here and there. Regardless I love your playing! For this comparison I like Lovepedal Rotary the best. Was surprised with the Digitech Ventura pedal.
There’s one chord at the end of the loop to showcase that, but I’ve always been more of ‘chorus for lead/arpeggios’ player. Too much listening to the Cure as a teenager 😀
The Ventura is a different kind of Vibrato. When mixed with the dry signal (eg: wet/dry rig), it gets you a Univibe-like sound. A VB-2 (for example) mixed in wet/dry gets you a Chorus sound.
On the Vintage setting, sure, but here I have the toggle switch set to 'MODERN' which is an 'original pure pitch-based vibrato effect' according to Digitech. And as you say, a pitch-based vibrato, like a VB-2, blended with the dry signal, is a chorus.
There's too many chorus/vibrato pedals for me to do all of them. I don't have enough money to buy every one! Which is why it says 'Fourteen Chorus/Vibrato Pedals' instead of 'Every Chorus/Vibrato Pedal'. But I presume you like the Diamond?
Lots of nice pedals Second listen I had a different idea... The Way Huge one sounded great the way the low mids and top end moves... I like the Jam a lot but it's just a bit too thick and round. Would like a Jam that sounded a bit more towards the Way Huge. The fairfield is way too warpy... wish it didn't have to have that always. I wonder if it's plain chorus sound is nice. I wish the Jam highlighted the percussion and out of phase sound a bit more. I wonder if you had not had the depth all the way up on the slow speed clip if it would have been different? Edit: I did a blind test, and the Fairfield circuitry one made me really wish that pedal didn't have that glitchy thing going on... very annoying. It sounds amazing, probably better than the Jam which was my other one I liked a lot.
Would be great if Pedal Bored would always drop a Behringer in this type of reviews just to hear if there is really such big differences, great review.
hmm, cant get the appeal of the shallow water, cool idea and definitely unique, but the randomness would irritate me. I really liked the Callisto, Blue Hippo, and actually to my surprise the Rotary Reverb. The additional settings on the Rotary Reverb are gonna make me look into it a bit more.
Thank you!!! Damn it it's tough finding a boss sound with a blend or mix knob... Probably just going with the CE-2w but man I want the blend option. That's okay though, boss to me is the chorus sound but woah the competition is phenomenal
I was just listening while driving along in my car. Hoesntly without sight these all just blended Into 1. The differences are so small. Ad a venue, a band, a miced cab etc and it really wouldn't matter which one you had. Pick you favourite graphic 😅
Rare Form I never keep them - they get sold, or of possible returned (some pedal companies were kindly starting to lend them to me before the pandemic put a hold on it).
