Do you have any advice for food drops when you hiked in Oct.? We're doing it this fall (mid-Sep to mid-Oct), and finding most ranch pick-ups close Sep. 30. We're hoping to carry less and stock up more but might have to do the last week on one stock up.
It was a fantastic time to hike (but of course snow can go either way in the shoulder season). We resupplied at Mono Hot Springs, which is about a 5 mile side trek from VVR (which was closed). One of my favorite parts of the hike was coming out of Mono hot springs up Bear Valley! Since we did it in 14 days we were able to get away with just that one resupply but that last one 8 days (with an extra day's worth of food for buffer, so 9) was heavy!
