Imnotslaying its a technical way to move the ball forward without kicking it to avoid losing the ball overextending it to much and exposing it to a rival . Brazilian men are experts in this.
Have to agree watching Rose get the ball, be able to control the ball looking up, splitting the defense, where to kick the ball past the goalie. Just such a skilled female athlete, on a wonderful team!!! GO USA!!!
Yeh, yeh, yeh, that was always in the forefront of my mind! I kept praising Dunn for that steal, and commended the players all the while for stealing the passes away and that aggressiveness is what wins the game! But hats off to tough and smart playing of Dunn, couldn't have done it without her.
Totally agreed with you. Just wanted to add one more thing. Alex Morgan. Her parallel run served as a distraction which pulled 2 Dutch defenders toward her. That partially freed Rose. What happened next was considered one of the most beautiful goal of this tournament.
Dunn's tackle was basic. Lavelle's attack, fake, and strike were WORLD CLASS. Dunn did not create that goal, Rose got the ball at about midfield and then TOOK CONTROL.
Wow. Slo mo reveals so much. The awesome step over rolling dribble during a full out run, then the subtle shoulder fake to juke the defender to the right so she can line up her left foot, followed by that amazing, hard, accurate shot. My goodness.
Before the game, I told my family that Lavelle was the most likely to end someone's career during the final. The poor Dutch defender had to turn in her passport in the locker room after getting turned around on that fake. Lavelle's footwork is just fun to watch.
Skill. The Tackle, the Pass, The Dribbling, the Runs off ball, the Fake, The Pace, The Power, The Accuracy, The Celebration ... I watch a lot of soccer, not sure I’ve Ever seen better
@@UserUser-fm3cr Van de Gragt already had a yellow card. If she gets another one she's out and there is no chance of the Dutch coming back if they're a player down. She was careful and she lost.
Every angle showed me something new -- from the steal, to the acre of space in the middle, to Mewis' composed possess-n-pass, to Morgan's run that opened the space for Rose to attack, the way she turned the defender, stutter step to get aligned to fire, the placement, the goalie's despair ... but honestly I loved the overhead one the most.
About protecting her: I saw an interview on CNN where the interviewer tried to suck her into the controversies. Somehow Rose escaped but they’ll try to use her before she’s ready. I hope she has some good advisors and protectors.
FlaschDJ omg i saw that same video and thought the same thing! that made me so mad. kelley was just kinda laughing because she knew what the interviewer was doing. rose did good tho
Udeh Ifechukwu Ebenezer I am totally new to soccer. I’ve watched this entire video 25 times. I’m hooked. I saw something that puzzles me: While Rose was dribbling, she seemed to (once) toe the top of the ball as if to make it spin faster - or something! Did you see that?.
@@FlaschDJ yes, that's to keep the pace of the ball up. It's a subtle way to dribble. The players who are able to do things like that naturally and effectively in games are rare. She is rare. We've never had an American player with this sort of potential.
CRYSTAL DUNN. Samantha Mewis and then.... Rose Lavalle. Crystal is the one who stole the ball from the Dutch player and passed it to Smantha Mewis. In my book this goal is shared by these three ladies. Hope Rose realized and celebrated with them at least later after the game was over. Anyways, I cant stop watching this clip over and over...
Dunn's tackle was basic. Lavelle's attack, fake, and strike were WORLD CLASS. Dunn did not create that goal, Rose got the ball at about midfield and then TOOK CONTROL.
Yes. We are devouring the same event 14 different times from 14 different angles. Again and again. An absolutely classic series of movements involving three hustling individuals.
Amazing dribbling skill, here we find a talented midfielder , humble, not so full of herself, which just needed some dust removal to reveal how precious she is.
Dunn's steal has been rightfully praised, what I think is being overlooked is Morgan's intelligent diagonal run that drags one defender away, setting up Lavelle's 1v1. As soon as Mewis passes the ball Morgan turns and sprints to the left channel as fast as she can.
Pure, unabashed joy. Watching this brought tears to my eyes. There's no doubting the technical brilliance that all of Team USA showed during the World Cup, but watching the sheer joy that Rose Lavelle exhibit in this play and throughout the FIFA Women's World Cup was worth the price of admission for me.
One of the best goals I’ve seen in world cups, male or female. Truly amazing teamwork. Thank you so much for your video. It’s incredible. I’m saving it.
As much as this goal is brilliant and beautiful'I have heard no mention of the perfect tackle by Dunn that gave posession .I love Rose Lavelle and am ecstactic that she scored this most critical goal but wish that Dunn would get more cred for the defending that she did in the knockout rounds considering her struggle to be on this squad and being the last cut for 2015
I agree, and I posted that likewise too. I hope she is getting the credit she deserves. She also did an amazing job against France, by which without her help that game who knows if they would have still been in it.
The crowds in these stadiums is almost unreal! I love how Rose runs to her other team members too and gives hugs. This video really is wonderful, perfectionately done! Thank you, especially in the slow motion part. Well done, I am so full of emotion.
Thrilling goal. Fabulous to see the slow motion of her attack and then the cathartic moments of ecstasy. The Fox video of the goal did not capture it. Great job putting this together; Thanks!
I think it was so moving that after the instant moment of jubilation on the pitch, Rose then ran off to the team bench to share the joy with her other teammates who were not on the field, making sure the euphoria was evenly spread. The way these girls played and behaved on and off pitch-----take note Donald--THAT is what makes America great.
@Boxing Bro the president himself made the national team political. No other president ever would have said anything about a national soccer team. The rest of them all had more important things to spend their energy upon. Not this one.
@Boxing Bro dude, are you serious? "they started it!" - that is the excuse of the child at the schoolyard. Come on. We're talking the president here. If you're the president, there's literally a million people saying shit about you. It's part of the job. A serious president pays no attention to any of it. Or even an average president. Right now, we have a president who watches TV.
@Boxing Bro a good president doesn't pay attention to what every little person is saying. There's 350 million people in the country and half of them are going to be critical of you if you're president. If you're a foolish president, you'll actually care what they're saying. A wise president puts his head down, ignores all that bullshit, and gets to work.
@Buzbeto: I've been looking all over for different takes on this fantastic strike. I didn't realize til now it was Crystal Dunn's precise chipping the ball away from Van De Donk to Mewis that led to Lavelle's thrilling goal. It must have taken you a lot of effort to put this together. Thanks a ton!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I recorded it off a feed from the Fox sports app. They don't post it to offer it for later viewing so I had to record it live. It took me some time to convert it for youtube posting. I also posted 14 Camera angles Megan Rapinoe PK Goal but not much interest in that one. It has only about 280 views as the Lavelle has over 34,000 as of this writing!
@Buzbeto: Hey, out of curiosity, I'd googled a very generic phrase "rose lavelle's goal" and your video came up 4th or so. Maybe stick an ad somewhere to get Google pay you something (if it doesn't violate copyright laws) hehe. Congratulations! www.google.com/search?q=rose+lavelle%27s+goal&oq=rose+lavelle%27s+goal
Fierce little Rose, mightily comes through, and that's got to be the best BIG goal of the tournament. My, oh, my, girl, you were awesome! Hip, hip, hurrah for a grand American team who was on fire and the fire never went out!
In one deft motion, Dunn dropped to a knee while a probing leg stripped the ball from Van de Donk and into the path of Mewis, who swiftly found Lavelle loitering in the center circle. From there, one of the tournament's most technically gifted players went on a dizzying 40-yard run littered with feints and fakes that left central defender Stefanie van der Gragt languishing in positional limbo.
Yup, the play was created by Dunn with her quick slide tackle that worked as a pass. It had to be quick or else the Dutch would have gotten back on defense.
I've watched this for over an hour now (I need to get back to work!). Thanks for this, it's a beautiful compilation. And Rose Lavelle is a marvel. And a joy.
Messi-like goal. Rose is one heck of a football player! When she was subbed in the match against England, Neville (former ManU player) gave her high-5. She was the only non-England player to whom he gave high-5. Big time recognition of her skills!
@@BIBIchgo if you're a soccer player, being compared to Messi is the highest compliment anyone can give you. Doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman.
Also being kind of overlooked is Alex Morgan's run which holds that defender giving Rose the space she needs to get the shot away on that side. Brilliant all around.
Slow Motion starting 4:55 - Rose: Side of the right foot, laces of the left foot twice, roll with the bottom of the left, outside of the left boot twice, feints, change direction with the right and the shot with the left...all at full speed! Amazing!
Great tackle by Dunn- Speaks to a mentality that the Left back jumps up to shut this breakout down in the offensive half vs tracking back to cover some run.
Dunn's tackle was basic. Lavelle's attack, fake, and strike were WORLD CLASS. Dunn did not create that goal, Rose got the ball at about midfield and then TOOK CONTROL.
It's only fitting that the 2019 Worldcup went out with a BANG: Sound of this very last scoring shot. One of the best goals in the tournament! Imagine if the scores were tied before that.........
Her back was to the goal when the ball crossed the line, yet she was so sure of her shot she was celebrating before hitting the ground. Even after leaping to her feet, she never glanced toward the goal - she might have been the only person in the stadium not to have seen the ball in the goal. Amazing. Beautiful.
The dutch defender dont think usa player will shoot at that range they expect lavelle will pass to tobin or alex. What a footwork and finishing by Lavelle!🇺🇸🔥
I suspect because Lavelle's not a big star( yet) like Morgan and Rapinoe and they did not study her in depth. I could easily tell she's a great striker because of her ability to get off a "powerful shot" "through a narrow gap" "with little preparation( lesser strikers need to take time to line up their shot). Future looks bright for her.
Alex Morgan made the perfect run to create the space. She made the defender try to pull her offside at the critical moment and that left the defender exposed and behind in trying to block the shot. Crystal Dunn was brilliant! Also because she had Becky Sauerbrunn behind her with distance from shot range. Dunn made a brilliant choice.
This has popped up on my recommendations for a while now but I always thought I love Rose but 12 minutes all on the same shot? Come on... Then I finally watched it and it was worth every freaking second. Could watch this all day long. Such skill and pure joy captured in one moment. We love our Rosey here in DC and all across the US.
Michael Drabenstott most defenders don’t get the credits. But they can be easily get all the blames when other teams score goals. I did play all positions for years so I knew.
I just don't tire from watching this goal. The accuracy and power on that shot is undeniable. The U.S. team should be built around Rose Lavelle from now on. Aside from her football skills, she's sooo cute too. 😊 There's a Jodie Foster vibe going on with her eyes and mouth too. I know that a man takes his life in his hands commenting on women's appearance in public nowadays but hey ...
@@markdavis7397 Well, I commend you for restraining yourself from making harmless observations because other people _believe_ them to be harmful. I don’t think that you should ever abandon working out whether anything is fair or not though. Yes, that kind of enquiry is sometimes difficult (never “useless”, btw) but it’s always essential to progress. Like you, I don’t expect anyone to see through my lens ... but I do expect them to see through the lens of reality. Commenting on Rose Lavelle’s appearance in the way I did - I wasn’t vulgar or even halfway suggestive - was a benign action. That is a simple truth. Any woman that has an issue with what I said about Lavelle should remind themselves of the things other guys say about women online. Reality checks are good! Incidentally, I’d argue that the things I said in my first paragraph were much more interesting than my fondness for Lavelle’s appearance ... yet nobody’s asked me about those!! That says a lot. I regard myself to be a feminist i.e. I believe that, wherever possible, women should be treated as equally as men. So, if I can comment on a man’s appearance or pay him a compliment, then I should be allowed to do the same to a woman. If not, then there’s a double standard at play. A double standard that *undermines feminism* because it transposes the fight for _equality_ with a fight for _special treatment_ . Peace.
Lots of beautiful women in the World Cup. Lots of talent, too. Makes wonderful viewing, and not as many dives as the men make. The women I think are worth more money than the men this year. The system needs some readjustment. I am glad the Champs are pressing their case.
Lavelle was in complete control on every dribble, threading through the defense, and leading up to the strike and goal. It was a thing of beauty to behold.
This entire sequence was a thing of beauty. Teamwork and skill at its finest. It starts with Crystal Dunn's (MVP in my opinion) textbook tackle, and Mewis' solid pass that allowed Rose Lavelle to do her magic. What a beautiful show of football finesse. Well done.
Every single aspect of this play is beautiful from the tackle that Dunn made to get the ball then the pass from Sam and finally a perfectly placed ball by Rose ❤️💙❤️💙
Thank you to whoever put this together. I'm honestly obsessed with this goal. Due to the fact it was totally unexpected from this newbie, the game was a nail biter & with that goal, it kinda sealed the deal. Dunn with the defence, Mewis with the steal & pass & Lavelle with the legendary goal. Thank U Rose & the USWNT. 🏅🏅🏅🏅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wow.. You did a great job on this video!! Excellence all around starting with the tackle of the Dutch player by Crystal Dunn - pass to Sam Mewis - pass to Rose Lavelle. That goal was phenomenal the way she got around so many Dutch players. Beautiful goal and great teamwork from Dunn, Mewis and Morgan who almost acted as a decoy. Ladies and gentlemen, this is why the USWNT are by far the BEST in the World!!!
Lavelle got game. Scored a terrific goal with sweet handles. But not too many defenders besides Iggy from the GS Warriors get MVP credit for playing great defense the way Dunn did during the tournament. Left backs defend against other team best forwards often times. Mewis did good too with assist pass. I coach and played every position but started at left back. I was ambidextrous. Media likes to highlight the big moments. I tell my players that did what Dunn did that it was because of their hustle work that caused the big play to happen. Everyone doesn't get equal pay nor equal credit.
We know that and they know that too....the fans just might not know it, but we do, I know the rest of the team knows too. That is why they win and they won. Every little steal and pass makes every difference and sometimes the final winning one.
Great shot Rose! Way to make her bite for the right side!! Brilliant!! They must of forgot your left foot. Here's lo many more like this. Keep shooting!
Yep! And almost a split second shot between 2 defenders. All other teams should know about her left foot from now on. One of the most memorable goals in women soccer.......
I thought the same thing, but it was such a good move tho. She really sold it well even if they knew to defend her left side (which I'm sure they did).
An exceptional video! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 One of a kind! Never seen anything like this! Great job, authors, thank you!👍✌☺! This goal of hers is THE CLASSIC of football/soccer! Rose Lavelle is a superb!🌟👸🌷
A few things I noticed. While there were 2 defenders, #6 Dekker had to guard against Morgan streaking towards the goal and only committed to Lavelle at the last moment. That meant Lavelle was one on one against #3 van der Gragt. Against van der Gragt, Lavelle keeps pushing her towards her right side. And then Lavelle totally fakes going right with a subtle flinch as if she going to kick it hard right. As noon as van der Gragt sees Lavelle’s left foot go back, she takes off in the wrong direction and has to turn all the way around. By then Lavelle only faked a hard kick right and went left and shot the ball in the open space she created with her fake out.
8:03 Dunn's tackle, the control from Mewis. It's insane. When Rose rolled the ball with the top of her foot at 8:24 I lost my mind. The control at that speed, the confidence to take it down the center of the field. I love this team so much. The fake out. Knowing exactly when to shoot. The happiness on their faces and bodies. This video is the coolest thing ever.
It's a world -class goal from any angle. Nice that so many realized the value and contribution of Crystal Dunn. All 3 involved in this goal were not in the 2015 World Cup.
I noticed the poor defense by the Netherlands. They should have moved forward and challenged Rose's dribble. And Rose's footwork juked out the defender which opened up the clear shot. Rose Lavelle plays excellent defense too. She will be the captain of the USWNT in 2023 and may be the best women's player in the world right now. And she is only 24 years old.
Rose totally outclassed the Netherlands in this play. Starting from Crystal Dunn with the pass to Sam Mewis and then the brilliant goal by Rose Lavelle. The Netherlands players didn't seem to know how to handle this play.
Great steal; great first pass; turning the defender and shooting against the 'grain' on the play that was developing before the 'opening' closed - just great football. (Reminded me of Messi.)
My husband was just showing me Maradona's goal, and then Messi's similar one right before we watched this game, so when she scored this one it felt like such a crazy coincidence because of how similar it was!
My favorite part of her shot is the moment after the strike. I love that you can see the power and precision just by the way her left leg lifts her whole off the ground, but her eyes are alway on the goal. She timed that strike to perfection. Of course it was all made possible by a perfect tackle by Dunn and pass by Mewis.
