Lost media is so interesting. It's like nobody cares about these things until they go missing. Even after they're found sometimes it seems as of people don't care for it after the job is done.
A lot of it really isn't that exciting to actually watch. Usually it starts with one person's half remembered description of something. For the people who get involved hunting it down is what's actually exciting for them. After that it's just down to the few people who would have cared about it to begin with.
As long as they're preserved and still accessible to the public, I don't care if people are interested in the material or not. Imagine some of the wild stuff that is available, if it was ever lost. Imagine episodes of South Park being lost. Someone would describe the "It Hits The Fan" episode and if you never saw it, you wouldn't believe an episode like that ever aired but it did. Some lost media are genuine master pieces that due to a combination of legal troubles, poor storage, theft and fires, are at risk of dissapearing for good.
This sounds totally unbelievable, but I was actually part of the test audience for Cyberchase when I was 8, in Portland, Oregon. I actually posted about that vague memory on my Tumblr several years ago (somewhere in 2014), so it was really amusing when they finally found the episode, since I finally had something to supply to the claim I'd been saying for years. It didn't occur to me until recently how cool it was that I was actually part of a small piece of lost media history, since my classroom was one of the chosen audiences to run the pilot for, which they had just told us something like: "Hey kids, we got something really fun planned today. We're going to watch a cartoon instead of doing math, and it's a special cartoon because no one has ever seen it before you guys. You just tell us what you liked about it when the tape is over." I don't have the exact memories of the content of the pilot since it's been YEARS, but I do remember something specifically about eggs and numbers, and something about eggs/babies disappearing because of the villian, so the citizens of the wierd number town thought the human kids had something to do with it at first, which was the conflict. Considering the test pilot was tested a few years before the series proper aired, it does give a little insight on how long it takes to go from Pilot to Final Concept. 👀
funny enough, I DO remember this certain episode airing on PBS, but was taken out from airing a few years later, but if I do recall, there is also a Cyberchase episode that apparently predates Digit the Cyberbird, but yet Introduces Motherboard and Hacker, but I don't remember the title of the episode but I'm pretty sure it exists. !EDIT!: If it helps, one of the episode's scenes is that of a graveyard or Hacker's Homebase
At least someone in the lost media community has finally mentioned the found Cyberchase pilot! You’d think since it was part of many childhoods across the world, you’d think more people would talk about it.
We found 31 episodes of another nickelodeon game show, Brainsurge! A user on google drive had them in his archives. 24/120 episodes are still missing but we are so close!
@@Samantha_Lee Because someone must be young to not associate the name Cher with either the singer or the movie Clueless or both. I'd wager a guess that most people who were born pre-90s (or even pre-early 00s) would pronounce it correctly without even thinking about it because it's just ingrained in their pop culture memory, even if passively.
@@MadameCirce I was born in 2002 and have never heard a single person mispronounce it until now, so you have no reason to worry haha! Cher is still so widely known today that I can’t imagine anyone of any age not immediately associating the name with her and knowing how to say it, which is why I didn’t understand the age thing lol.

Nickelodeon has tons of lost content, so maybe this content is just marinating in their vaults waiting to be released. There’s already about 20-ish hours of Pinwheel that have been found (including of course Clockman), so maybe Nickelodeon will just finally drop all their old content in some form.
@@Foxy02016 Dis+ has "Timon and Pumba" and "The Little Mermaid" cartoons but still no Aladin cartoon which was made at the exact same time. Not exactly lost media but disappointing since I enjoyed it even more than the others
I always get a sick or uneasy feeling when I research lost media. Not because of the material, but rather the feeling of knowing that a lot of hard work people put time and effort into creating was lost either due to age or poor archiving. I'm happy that people take the time to find these lost pieces of history and preserve them for future generations.

Man not going to lie or anything, if someone found the missing Cyberchase pilot (which is roughly a little over 20 years old at this point since the pilot came out at least 3 years prior before the actual episode that is based on came out in 2002, if I am not mistaking it’s the seventh episode of season 1) this gives me hope that one day we can find the missing episode/cancelled episode scripts for the Cartoon Network show called “Codename Kids Next Door” since all three missing episodes/cancelled episodes are old at this point and the show itself is gonna be 20 years old next year.
I actually had no idea the Cyberchase pilot was lost. I remember watching it the day it aired on PBS and it's like all these memories came flooding back. Like even right down to "triangle square circle circle" thing verbatim.

The fact that I didn’t know about the rest of the entries on the list (I only knew about the Subway ad), shows that there’s even more lost media than what meets the eye (then again, it is called *lost* media for a reason). There’s a satellite station I’d like to find/identify. I was suffering from all-night insomnia one night in 2008 while staying at a small town motel in the Canadian Midwest. The motel had TVs that showed two local stations, one sports cable channel, and two pirated stations. One was a southern evangelical station. The other was a fifteen minute video loop of five different 3 minute clips of arts and culture - classical music, opera, ballet, theatre, and a clip of the movie Black Narcissus (when the possessed nun falls off the bell tower cliff). It was playing when we arrived and still played the next morning when we checked out. It was hypnotic and I still wonder what the channel was.
What the heck, I remember watching the Cyberchase pilot in 2010. I remember being really excited to watch Cyberchase in school but then the teacher put on the pilot and I groaned because I had seen it many many times and hated the weird look it had compared to what it was at the time. How was it lost media???
Often people don't realize that what they have is one of a few much missed copies. Thus, they are not uploaded and shared and the search continues online for everyone unable to get to it.
I'm still looking for a commercial. I think it aired on CBS or ABC during the Saturday Morning Cartoon Blocks that used to air. IT was a super creepy commercial for some kind of stuffed animals. They were made to look like cops and robbers. There was a search light looking for the escaped prisoner animals (I think they were bears or dogs), and the music that played was super creepy, which is why the commercial felt so creepy. Unlike some horror movies, this commercial actually made me want to go outside. This was either during the late 80's or early 90's.
You may have something on your hands here if you can keep finding the obscure ones. I subd and will be looking forward to what else you have in store and the progression of the channel.

I know a lost kids show that's been living in my head rent free FOR YEARS!! And I feel like nobody will believe me if I try to explain what it was, mainly because I can't remember the name or the characters names.. just blurred images of what they looked like... But here goes! Just incase anybody might **actually** believe me... It's this show that aired on Nick Jr, I think the premise for each episode was telling stories to kids within the actual story itself, but anyways.. There were these 3 animal kids.. I can't remember if they were badgers or what.. and I always thought they were siblings because they looked like identical triplets.. but they lived in a hollow tree with this elder badger (I'm just calling them badgers for namesake) because apparently they were orphans.. So each episode was about the kids having either an adventure or disagreement with each other, so they'd sit down with the elder badger and he'd tell them a story for their problem. And then.. I think it was the series finale, you find out that the families of the badger kids made it out of whatever danger they were in (or something) inside the forest, and they were on their way to finally get the 3 badgers and take them home.. Now the 2 boys reunite with their families, except for the girl.. her parents never make it out for whatever reason.. to which she hugs the elder badger and cries because she's now accepting her fate of being an orphan.. then you find out that the elder was abandoned by his family when he was young because he got separated from them, which is why he's been living in that hollow tree his entire life. It gets happy in the end because the badger girl's parents finally make it to her at the elder badger's house... but it was pretty depressing for awhile. **AND YES!!** I know this sounds like I went on some elaborate fever trip or wrote a fanfic for babies, but I'm telling you I could not make up this story... And I'd really like it if someone could tell me they know what I'm talking about so I don't have to feel like I imagined it or something.. 😅
The closest thing I can think of is Adventures from The Book of Virtues, but that involves 2 human kids interacting with talking animals and it aired on PBS. It does involve telling stories though.
I always love when lost media is found, lost media in general is just super intriguing to me. Side note, the way you pronounced Cher made me stop in my tracks I had to pause the video and take a moment.
I remember seeing the Poddleville episode sometime in the mid 2000s and thinking that the gang was like, morphed because of where they landed in that episode. I was kinda scared of it, honestly. I had some weird fear of being physically altered in wacky ways (probably from Spy Kids lol.)
You also remember seeing the pilot?! I wanna know what made it lost media because I had seen I enough times as a kid to be annoyed when it was shown at school.
i remember waffle boy's various adventures (there were a few of them) and also being really confused as a kid when the site replaced the character with some kind of dinosaur man

This is a great series. It is both a chance to give closure for people searching for that one clip or game they loved but can never find, and possibly rekindle the legacy of the creators' work
OMG I WAS OBSESSED WITH TOONJAM AS A KID!!! I had a copy of the VHS tape up until maybe 10 years ago when my parents threw all of our childhood tapes away… if only I knew it was rare, I would’ve uploaded the video in its entirety. Dang! I still have the Toon Jam CD though!
I had no idea cyberspace was lost media. I thought everyone saw it back before TV were flat. It was one of those shows you watched as a child when your grandmother had no cable at the house
The choice of music along with your voice gives it that feeling of nostalgia, how these were all from long, long ago, even though these were all brought up to the public just this year.
If you ever do a sequal, could you mention plants vs zombies online? It was a Chinese mmo that sadly closed in 2018. A person on the pvz wiki found the game's source code and is currently working on fixing it. I have a few videos showing the game's progress on my channel.
smile will air the most obscure and weird cartoons so I was not surprised that it was the only channel in the word that still airs the adventures of voopa the goulash.
Waffleboy's Mountain Adventure is still only partially found. It is missing cutscenes and minigames inbetween levels. The game itself is in a broken state and the lives counter doesn't work correctly. Also it has been in Flashpoint since at least last year.
I don't know if anyone said something like it to you, but your videos gives me some creepy vibes. It's good, it let me uneasy. Maybe it's the subject, maybe the music, maybe the narration, maybe everything but it creeps me out, in a way I haven't felt in a long time. Congratulations, your videos are excellent.
Very happy to see Waffleboy's mountain adventure was found. I actually remember playing that a lot as a kid. Never went back to see if it was still there but it was so obscure that I assumed it disappeared forever with the loss of flash. Looks like I was somewhat right about that.
I can totally remember playing the Scooby-Do game on a random german flashgame page when I was like 7 or 8 (I'm 20) and I'm not sure but I think there were 2 games. In the second one you were on some kind of excavation site, but like I said I'm not quite sure about this one. But it's really nice to see that game again after such a long time :D
So how much lost media is gonna result of streaming heavy culture, less physical media being released and/or companies editing/removing content to fit "2021 standards"?

Whoa whoa whoa - that nick train....I’m floored! So my mom worked for a cable company in the early 90s. I took a friend with me to the train stop, where the older brother from “The Wonder Years” was on the train. We legitimately won a trip to universal studios from that trip. Im not sure if they did more than one train gig, but seeing this blew my mind. The stop we were at was in Raleigh, NC.
I believe those Post-Opia games were released as a sort of promotion that tied the cereal mascots into the game. I somewhat remember playing (or owning? I could’ve sworn it was on a disc) the game that had the HoneyComb cereal character. I don’t remember anything too specific about it. I’m assuming the waffle game is connected to Waffle Crisp cereal. In February a full episode of 'The Adventures of Hyperman' came to light. Last week a partial episode was revealed as well. The show is considered lost animation media and these postings are the first time the show has been seen in many years. Still looking for the 1969 Fat Albert Special and more episodes of Undercover Elephant . . .

That's an edited version, not the pilot as it originally was. Some scenes were cut, others were added or reanimated, and the voice actors aren't the same. So yeah, the 1999 version was lost :P
I know of two lost media I would love to find: Donna's day (pbs and hallmark) and Cake tv (a preteen diy show that aired on cbs in the early 00s) I woud seriously buy the dvds of these shows,
On the topic of lost media being found this year, i believe that i have a couple of the lost episodes of Kitty cats show from TLC's ready set learn block, since the episodes arent titled on the broadcasts i can only give a description of the episodes: One features the cats being down about not having heard from their bird friend flap, they get the idea to go and check the mail to see if they got any postcards from him, on their way out they get stopped by their dog friend who informs them that they didn't get any messages from him, then the group gets the idea to trick their friend by making the house look as though its been abandoned and haunted, soon after the bird returns and with the help of their fox friend manages to turn the tables on them and scares them instead. The other episode i have features the dog character digging around in their garden where he finds what he believes to be a dinosaur bone, he gets excited and shows it to the cats who get scared thinking that there's a real living dinosaur running around in the garden, rosie shows up and after hearing why they were freaking out reassures them that there aren't anymore dinosaurs left since they're all extinct, then when the dog comes back and shows her the bone she informs him that its just an old soup bone and he winds up giving it to his skunk pal(who had been chasing him around the entire episode trying to get that bone from him). Can anyone confirm if these are actually missing or have these two episodes already been recovered?
