First-time watcher. I appreciate that you stayed on task, sped the video, named each ingredient, quoted prices, and showed the process of making the meal. Great job. I'll check out some of your other vids. BTW, sweet kids *wink*
Kelly Kizer it’s so easy to boil cheap bone in chicken breast in some water with salt and onions . Add more veggies if you like to make soup or broth . Then shred the chicken and use for anything .
I love how the Lord blesses us as woman, wives, girlfriends, mothers, mothers to be, SAHM, and working career women to all come together like this and share ideas and be a blessing one to another.....Thank you Lord for blessing me to be a part of this. This is beautiful!😇🙏😂💜 And big ups to the red discount stickers on the meat at Aldis....those stickers are a blessing!
You just might have saved my sanity!!! After being a stay at home mom for 11 years I am finally headed back to work full time. This is going to be a LIFESAVER with a husband who deploys all the time and 3 hungry busy kids! Thanks for all the recipes and tips Momma! Definitely subscribing to your channel.
This is the best freezer meal video I have found so far. I dont have to be hours in the kitchen. I just simply make double!!!!! Please make another video if you have more recipes!
When I was a younger mom I made sooooo many meals with a baby on my hip. This video made me so happy! You're the best! Thx for sharing your authentic life!
I just wonder if it will work in a kitchenaid-ish stand mixer as well, since these have only one kneading hook or mixing thing (sorry, English is not my first languange🙈)
@@lifethroughhereyes3958 Yes, it will definitely work in a stand mixer. Use your regular paddle (flat mixing) attachment and go slow! No apology necessary, lots of people don't even have a second language.
Thanks for sharing! One thing I suggest looking into is Better Than Bouillion. It comes in chicken, veggie, reduced sodium chicken, beef, and I think turkey. It’s a paste you mix with water. You can find it at Walmart but I buy at Costco. It’s about $7-$8 (in Texas- howdy neighbor) and it makes 72 cups of broth. The Walmart sizes are smaller, but still an incredible value. Additionally, it’s phenomenal and it stores in the fridge for a long time. You can make 1/2 cup broth if you need to, or the whole dang thing :) also, if a recipes calls to reduce something, you can add a little less water to reconstitute it. It’s pennies vs canned or boxed broths.
Yay! Thank you. Best video I've found, plus I love that filming doesn't come before kids! ♥️ These are all great ideas to prep for a new baby without adding a bunch of extra stress. I'm going to want affordable comfort food and my kids/hubby will love these!
I’m a new subscriber and I love your content. My kids are 22, 20, and 18 but I have chronic illnesses and love cooking easier when I can. We also finally got an Aldi and I haven’t been since 2010. I was amazed at all the new stuff they have. This store is twice the size of the others I had been to, especially the one we shopped at in Germany. When this one opened I saw an older couple that was mad because they had been waiting for it to open and thought it was just a store with generic items. I asked them if they knew about the guarantee and they didn’t really know anything and when I told them they were surprised and didn’t end up leaving. So glad to help others discover the wonder that is aldi!
This is great- my only question is - how do you reheat the freezer meal without overcooking it? I normally just freeze right before I cook it so curious how you do it- thanks!
Hi I love how you look after your family so well.Even though you are busy cooking you always pick your bubba up when they need you.what a great mum and cook.xxxx
Well so far... I've made the chicken pot pie and I'm literally in love. I used a bag of frozen veggies, and left over chicken. (Part shredded chicken made for bbq chicken sandwiches 1/2 was reserved for either this or the chicken and rice and part left over rotisserie chicken from dinner last night. Haha). But I took 1/2 my filling and froze it separately then we'll make a new pan later with the crust. (I don't have a lot of freezer space until we get my new freezer)
My mother would add frozen broccoli to our chicken and rice casserole. It really compliments the meal and bakes well. Trust me, even the most fussy of eaters will love it. Even pre-boiling it on the stove and baking it in wouldn’t compromise the bake time :)
Especially, broccoli was a favorite ingredient of my mom's. I find that if it is cooked long enough (for kids) it starts to have a sweet taste they like. As an adult, I prefer it less cooked, but it is delicious either way. 😉
"TOP JOB" a very straightforward no nonsense approach to bulk cooking plus you delivered on video presentation & editing. In a world gone mad we need to learn to grow & cook food with love & wisdom again.
Girl! SIS! God bless you!! Thank you for sharing this video!! Oh my God! I needed to watch this! And yesssssssssss JESUS CHRIST ALL DAY EVERY DAY TILL HE COMES BACK!!! YES !!!
Brilliant ideas. I have cooked for my family for over 40 years. When my kids were little I made yoghurt, bread, even crisps (potato chips). Now retired and not in good health, I have run out of steam and ideas, these recipes are so easy, thanks for taking the time to video and post them
You could refrain from cooking your freezer meal. You can just cook it from frozen. Reduce bacteria especially by thawing chicken, cooking it, freezing it the. Reheating. Even your leftover mash. It’s recommended don’t reheat that many times. Also I work for thermal processors, who say don’t defrost your meat in the microwave, you can do so it warm water but the microwave is so much quicker!! But good for you. I do this as a one person household. Cook more than needed, or in most cases half cook and freeze. Then it feels more like fresh meals as they’re cooked or prepped on different days.
Frozen hamburg does not need to be thawed in order to cook it. It can be added to the pan frozen and cooked immediately. This takes less time than thawing it in the microwave. Just thought I’d mention it in case you wanted to try it. Whatever works for you!
thanks for the advice! The meat was completely frozen through...a solid brick a frozen meat. that is the only reason why i chose the microwave method to soften it. When it gets a lot softer, i usually add it to the pan for times sake.
I'm so glad I came across your channel in my recommendations! I love that you use Aldi and share prices and steps with your recipes- super helpful! I love Aldi- we just got one in my city a couple years ago. This is a great way to build up a freezer stash, and I also really, REALLY appreciate that the recipes you share are things that are so family/kid/picky eater friendly! And with a baby on your hip- that's real life! I remember being SO frustrated that I could never make a meal in the time that the recipe or show (30 minute meals, specifically) said it should take, and my husband pointed out that Rachel Ray never had a toddler on her legs/hip/back while she did it LOL. Rock on, mama! OOOH- one more thing- I use regular, cheapo lasagne noodles and they work fine- no need for "oven ready" if it costs more.
Great recipes and I love how you can multi task with your kids underfoot. My son is older now but I remember (and miss) those days. I agree Aldi is amazing for saving money and can’t wait to try your recipes. Thanks !
Iv been following for a while now. Catching up on older videos and I have to say the grocery prices in this video makes me want to cry!! 5.00 something for TWO pounds of ground beef. I’m shook
Boy was I hoping for a complete shopping list lol! This is my biggest problem. I don’t mind the cooking or cleaning so much but man sitting down and trying to make that list. I die! Lol
I’d suggest adding some additional veggies in, like a bag of steamed broccoli would have been great with the chicken spaghetti. The baked ziti and lasagna, blend some spinach, zucchini and/or carrots in with the spaghetti sauce and call it spices, kids will never know.
Also, chopping up a fresh onion to cook with the ground beef would add a lot of nice flavor as well as extra Vitamin C! Minced garlic would be good as well to up the nutrition & flavor.
Pretty much ANY dish with lots of sauce can have some veggies snuck in there. Even if ya grab a cup or two of the sauce, put the veggies into it, put it in the blender and go whir. Watch that a veggie does not make a sauce bitter. If it does then add a bit of sugar. Add that back to the remaining sauce. Mix well and use as usual. This is a great way to use left over veggies. Cooked veggies may also be blended with eggs, ketchup etc to go in meat loaf. Ex saute broccoli, mushrooms, spinach in a wok. Taste it and add a bit of sugar if it has a bitter taste that wont get past your littlest kids. Blend that mix into a blender with egg. Add that to meat loaf with meat, spices and bake. The kids wont notice a thing. Veggies blended and added to pizza sauce also seems to be eaten with kids none the wiser about the fact that they are eating vegetables. Blended veggies can also hide VERY well in sloppy joe mix.
Where has your channel been my whole life?! I'm going to be making both of your freezer meal videos for my upcoming baby! (#5) I can't wait to watch all of your videos!!!
Always ask a busy woman how to do something or to do something for you. You are amazing. Your meals look amazing and I plan on writing them down soon, I have already saved your video.. We are pensioners and each meal would do us for two meals, so I would get four meals out of each recipe, wow. Admittedly, you have no idea how much cheaper your shopping us, compared to Australia. Thank you so much. You have certainly taught an old horse a new trick of how to shred chicken, so simply, love it. I am going to share this video.
Looks like I found my meal prep for maternity leave! THANK YOU for this. It is seriously what I was searching for. Here is my virtual hug from a very pregnant mama!
It's safe to say that I'm thoroughly confused. How do you eat food with virtually no seasoning????? I used premade pasta sauce too but I still as garlic and onion powder. That chicken needed some adobo for the second mess. It looked like baby food 😭 this did inspire me though and give me some good ideas but girl get a p.o box and I got you on adobo and garlic powder.
With the lasagna my family doesn’t like ricotta so we use cottage cheese and that can cut the price a little bit just a tip to everyone in case they don’t like ricotta a lot
Thank you thank you thank you.. im from New Zealand and we don't have all products you showed but I can compromise but my husband and I are always busy and these so would help out and are so convenient thank you for your ideas you have just given me new tips on time saving, cooking ideas and new meals. Thank you!!
Ziti is a type of pasta. What you made is a pasta bake. It's not a big deal but just an fyi. Pasta bakes are so flexible and really save money. Try it in the summer when someone gives you some tomatoes and zucchini. I use farfalle (bow tie), pesto blended with cream cheese, a few mushrooms and a sprinkle of parm. It's a lighter taste and still filling. The most expensive thing is the pesto, which can be thinned w a bit of olive oil. And yes, besides the free veggies from my garden or a coworker it all comes from Aldi.
@@thesimplifiedsaver7052 the name wasn't the big deal. Just wanted anyone reading the replies to know that a pasta bake is meant to be whatever you have on hand. I grab from the garden and leftovers from the fridge all the time. Pasta and rice are both easy to get creative with and enjoy for cheap.
For those of us who want to freeze smaller serves, you can always put them in your freezer suitable Mason Ball jars. Unfortunately, we can't use the quart jars for freezing. I find the widemouth pint jars are the right size for single serves of homemade soup. Check up which Mason Ball jars are freezer friendly, if you don't already know. Needless to say, I am new to using my jars for freezing, using the plastic white screw lids.
Add garlic, onion, and some manner of dried/chopped/powdered pepper, or ground ginger and cinnamon. Let your imagination soar. Don't bother with salt, because there's usually enough in the canned/powdered soups.
That's where the cream of mushroom/cream of chicken soup comes into play - they both have salt, etc. These will usually season everything in the pan when she mixes it. :-)
This video is great for those who are new to cooking as well as those who want to build up prepped food in their freezer. For anyone who would say this isn't a recipe...umm not every recipe has to have a person using fresh veggies, etc. I used to watch a cooking show on the food network called semi homemade. I forget the woman who did it, but I tend to follow her line of thought. Plus I think if a person buys something, brings it Home and prepares it...its homemade. 😉😁
I make a few freezer meals although it's just two of us and I love it. When I make my homemade marinara (I am marrying a full Sicilian NY guy) I make HUGE batches and put it into quart sized freezer containers. I can't remember the last time I had tater tot casserole! I want to make it now!
Great casserole ideas. You had a couple I hadn’t thought of. I remember the days when I had a baby on the hip and did tons of stuff one handed. 😂 😂😂 Thanks for sharing!!
Oh my gosh THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THE BREAD RECIPE! Ive been making bread for MAAAANY years but since the kids grew up I just don’t want the mess and it hurts my arthritis. I tried your recipe yesterday and it was so easy. My husband fell in love with it, one of our adult boys stopped by and he took half the loaf. 🙄😉. This morning my husband asked if I was going to make bread again, ummmmm I guess sure. I made it again today and guess who stopped bye........again with his younger brother in tow? 😂🤣😂🤣. The discussion about dinner menu this next week went some like this; mom - I’m thinking pot roast this week, hubby- and bread? I smiled. Mom - perhaps fried chicken. Hubby - and bread? 😳 good heavens I need more flour.
Great video!!! Each recipe looks delicious! I like how you explained each recipe, gave price break downs, and did it all with a sweet baby on your hip. As another viewer said, I too used to cook and wash dishes with a baby on one hip. Miss those days. Great job!
For the chicken and rice dish I'd add some carrots and peas for veggies. Or make some veggies on the side. Everything looks tasty. Can't wait to cook these
If you want to extend your savings even more, get ground turkey instead of ground beef. You can sometimes find the 1lb. rolls of ground turkey for less than $2 a lb. Sounds odd, but my wife and I love it, and it saves us quite a bit over time.
I just discovered you. You are my hero!!! I'm the same type of cooking mom - meaning, I love to make dinner but make a very large amount & freeze half of it. It's an enormous help. I always say - I'm gonna set time on the week & put together make ahead meal & nver end up doing it. Lol! So I love your idea of making dinner & serving one while freezing the other. Thank you!
As im eating ramen ... Well thats y im here.! Lol omg i have a 11 month old and currently carrying baby 2 6 months along and im so lazy. Just tired. And i have a part time job. Omg this is so healthy and amazing i love you girl your so real and aldis is my store way to open my eyes:)
First time watcher....Sub too! The chicken recipe is similar to what I have done in the past I also add: Fresh Mushrooms sliced or diced I take 2 sticks of Butter (not margarine) and melt it On the top of the chicken mixture I add 2 cups of crushed Ritz Crackers(you can buy the store brand ones too) and then add the butter on top of the crackers and then bake for 30-40 minutes until hot. I serve this with a Tossed Salad with Jello & cookies for dessert. We used to have casseroles on Thursday nights when the kids were all younger....and it was fun to find other casseroles to make. Someone gave me this recipe and I loved it.
Nice job! I was going to say, too, that I have found not baking the cassaroles 1st, just freezing and taking them out the night before or morning of and putting in the fridge to thaw and then bake just once tastes better. But still, your recipes are great!
I wish that I had this video when I was a newbie at being married and learning to cooking. Very simple and not exactly healthy with all the salt in the canned foods, but it's not like these are your only meals that you cook so I am sure you fix other veggies and season other things that you cook. Def an A+ for convenience and a lot cheaper than fast food. I would eat every one of those meals.
You could always throw some peppers and onions and more vegetables in your blender and put them in your meat. Not only more vegies but the kids wont notice and you'll stretch your meat :) new subscriber and i already enjoyed watching:)
I really enjoyed your video, and subscribed. Thanks for uploading! And it was a plus that your kids kept making random appearances and cameos. At one point during the lasagna prepping, it looked like you gave the baby a piece of paper towel to play with and the baby just wandered away happily with the piece of paper towel! It was heart warming.
You go girl, cooking' with the kid on the hip.I don't have children but that is still impressive, so where the meals. Learned a new truck using the mixer to separate the chicken
yelena lukina I am gluten free so if I want to make something with a cream soup type base I use home made stock and a little bouillon , and some garlic and a little dried onion and sour cream, it's a little more work but it tastes better and is healthier , you can make the home made stock ahead of time and freeze it in smaller portions ( home made stock was one of the first things I learned in cooking school) just gently boil or simmer veggie ends onion garlic and chicken bones for four hours and then remove all the bones and veggies (celery and carrot are good too ) and freeze in small containers or make a big batch of cream soup with it and then freeze in small containers.i know this sounds like a lot more work but it's so worth it , or you can just buy chicken broth and thicken it slightly and add sour cream👍🏻
When using frozen vegetables making shepherds pie do you cook the vegetables first? I just came across the channel yesterday and I absolutely love it. I am motivated to cook again. Thank you so much! 🙂 Love seeing the Mommy part of you while cooking that is real life (at least for me). I will be making several of the dishes.
