Ladies .. when Anna says dress for you she means it. Don't dress for your man.. dress for you and your comfort. That will translate into looking and feeling great when with your man... dressing just for him could take u out of your comfort zone to where you make style mistakes.. and you end up being uncomfortable.. that shows visibly!!! Look good for your guy but dress for you ❤
Hooray! I am celebrating my 75 year old body by wearing what makes me feel good about myself. You are correct because people really only notice the overall appearance of another person. A smile can distract others from what YOU think is a negative about your body. I loved your final comments. Thanks for sharing.
This was a good one -- good tips and I laughed out loud a couple of times. Also wanted to note, thanks to you I bothered to look for nicer shorts. And I found a great pair, brand new with tags still on at the consignment store! Off-white linen blend, and they actually fit well. So yay you! and yay me!
Hi Anna! It would be great if you talk about bras under different dresses and tops. I had such a difficult time finding a bra with a clear strap on the back( it was an open back). I am busty, so all the bras make me look bigger. Please🙏🏻
one of the best discoveries I made 2 yrs ago was wearing very thin cotton bicycle shorts under my summer maxi dresses. slips are too hot and bulky and I dislike sheer dresses. I also cropped my oversized t-shirts and wear them as a layering piece over my sleeveless dresses so I dont feel self conscious.
I have never noticed your dark circles - you do a really nice job of highlighting your beauty and not your makeup 😊 Also, I just got a new bra from VS that allows you to hook the straps in ANYWHERE around the bra. It also comes with regular or clear straps or can be strapless. Game changer for me!!! Great video!
In my opinion, I’ve never understood bra straps showing nor the Daisy Dukes / short denim shorts if you’re not super thin & over 16. In CA it’s a very distinct demographic that seems to embrace those looks & the look definitely screams “I don’t care.” So YAY for this year that tailored shorts are easy to find! And honestly, they are WAYYYY more comfortable than the denim cut offs. (Also Harry’s razors are the BEST!❤️)
Your lashes look amazing here!! Please do an invisible undies for summer video for all garments in all contexts -including when and how to remove tags 🥸
I love your videos and the sense of humor makes them more watchable. My number one fashion mistake is when a woman gets a certain age, maybe 50+, has been married for a little bit, empty-nester, so many start to not care how they look. I find it hard for people to say "I do not care", but respond nasty or look sad when people give them that side-eyed look. You are beautiful no manner your age, keep looking cute, it never stops.
I try never to dress like a hoochie Mama, it's just not me. I'm 64 years old so for years I've been elevating my style. I also spray tan at the salon and use tanning lotion or mousse to make the tan last longer. This way I don't get skin cancer.
hehe, I have a very thin and flowy wrap dress that tends to blow open if there is even a littlw breeze 😅 Solution, a safety pin that keeps the loose parts of the skirt of the dress together and in place from the inside out 😝
Hope you get your AC fixed soom. I'm in Florida too and today's heat is no joke. Also, I love watching styling videos, but I can't take the constant suggestion for layering. It's above 80 here the majority of the year. Why would I layer anything? I was happy to hear you comment on that.
Great tips and suggestions! Living in a four season climate I need clothes for winter temps below zero with snow and ice as well as 98+°F in the summer. As old as I am, I'm still surprised how difficult it is to dress in those miserable extremes. Thanks, Anna, for showing us great suggestions! XXOO ❤
I'm in Colorado and I feel like I'm never dressed properly. It gets cold...then hot....all in the same day. And yes, everyone says "layer layer"...Pfft....layer schmayer...I'm not taking an extra shirt on and off several times a day 😂 Honestly, I ❤ the always-changing weather so much
There are so many new bras, lace straps/designer straps, and lace backed bras that there really is no reason not to invest in speciality lingerie items for your summer wardrobe. I’m busty (32F), so we can all do it. Some of us it just costs a bit more.
Thank you for making natural skin look so beautiful. I feel so much pressure can and I’m struggling with this fake tanning process. Ha ha. Next season probably just go back to embracing my natural color. I also live in Florida. Sun protection is important.
Hi Anna, I have tank tops from White House Black Market that have little ribbons with snaps to put your bra strap in and it stays under the tank shoulder strap nicely. Funny, I have to remember when taking the top off to undo the snap.
I have never seen an under eye circle under your eyes, so whatever you're doing is working. Wearing the completely wrong bra may be comfortable, but it is tacky and cheap looking. (Yeah, I said it.) I love the side by side examples you gave - especially that you (for example) took the outfit on the left and then showed it on the right changing out the top and then changing out the bottom; very instructive.
I loved this video. Favorite tips were getting adequate sleep and wearing sunscreen & sunglasses. You give information is a light hearted way but is impactful 😊
I have never and will never get on the bermuda shorts train. They look horrendous on everybody. A dress that length would be just as cool in hot weather but doesnt look like granny on holiday.
Anna, you are so spot on on each items. A pet peeve of mine are girls/ladies that are wearing womens t-shirts that are too small. These shirts are clingy to each bulge and ripple. I had to go through my closet and ditch these shirts. “Womens” t-shirts are generally not real flattering especially on me (with the rectangle body). On another note; wear the shorts, skirts, dresses or sleeveless tops. No one sees your imperfections but you. I have a large scar on my knee from surgery. Not covering it up. Anyone can ask me, i will tell u how i got it!
Just wondering, I do love a nice romper of jumpsuit, but I always try to find one with a halter top. How do you do that on the toilet? I hate to undress completely if not at home (or is that just me?) A lot of great points, clean, hair-free (if that is possible with 6 longhaired cats), not too many crinkles and whole. And also clothes that fit you, not too big or too small, to big will make you look frumpy and bigger than you are and too small will also add pounds. I have to admit, I really dislike normal bra's. If I can avoid them I will, is not always possible though... Find one that fits you well! I do agree, it is horrible if a bra strap is showing, unless it has extra straps that crosses in the front, can spice up a simple outfit! And also agree on flipflops, great by the pool but under a nice outfit better get a nice sandal! btw, one the video's your darker under-eye is hardly showing (thanks for make up I guess). I have the same but then again I am chronically ill and often sleep bad or too short, my glasses hides them partly.
How about just NOT buying prints, especially florals- invest in solids and basics they never disappoint Conceal the reveal and trunk the junk before leaving the house ladies! …Your black one -shoulder dress is to die for! ❤
Ok Anna, hope you can forgive me for commenting on the totally wrong video...but i just couldnt find it again. The one about the shoes...I just got those Steve Madden strappy sandals you recommended...and oh my god...am i in love ❤️. They make your legs and feet look like a ballerina. So sleek and so elegant. Love, love them (got 2, black and nude) I need no other shoe this summer. 😍
It’s really popular here in California, at least among certain groups, to wear spaghetti strap tops or tanks over a bra, where the bra is visible everywhere: straps, sides, maybe back. This always just looks sloppy. A very few people might genuinely not care what they look like, but I think the vast majority of people watching fashion videos do. My rule has always been no visible underwear, it just looks so much better. We’re also seeing way too much side-boobage since those enormous armholes came on trend a few years ago. I wish they’d go away now, bras always show when wearing those. The same for backless items, they’re just not practical for those of us who really need to wear bras. I have a larger bust, I’m older (63) and I can’t wear those strapless bras with silicone strips because I don’t have a husband to help me fasten them anymore. Husbands are very useful for things like that, especially fastening necklaces, I don’t wear as many as I used to.
Sunscreen daily, on all exposed skin is a must. Also Polaroid sunglasses, the only ones to really prevent loss of vision from sun exposure, and a wide-brim hat when staying outside.
@@kimberlyperrotis8962Exactly! Wide brimmed straw hat and Polaroids! Got costommade sunglasses with my perscription on Polaroids! I love them! I broke up with the sun a couple of years ago! I use rashguards/ surferswimsuit with long arms! People stare but I don’t care! Bye from 🇸🇪🌤🦋🌿🐞
Hi Anna How can you look that good without air conditioning? Your hair looks so good. I did the flip flop thing for years..ruined my feet too , besides the out fit. Something that I will never understand is having a cute outfit but it is wrinkled. I guess I am weird..I iron clothes before I put them on and it takes a few minutes. I see sooo many people who don’t iron their clothes. Anna I know you love those Uniqlo tanks ( I love them on you ) , but I would like to buy some tanks like that in different colors but not cropped but not super long and not real expensive…lol Did I ask for a lot ?.. I guess Amazon has. I am busty and wearing low tank tops is not a good look anymore. I love the higher tanks too. The ones I see in the store has the thin straps. I don’t wear strapless bras being a d. All of your tips are great. Hope your air conditioning is fixed. We are having unusually nice low humidity , which is unheard of here. Thanks Anna..always fun to “see” you again. ❤❤❤
Hi, Anna, for the dark circles, I use an "orange" tinted camouflage cream before I use a concealer. For my face that has rosacea, I use a green tint to tone down the red.
Great reminders, thank you! So, I hear you on the dark circles girl! I was born with some really really bad ones and only last year did I just discover primer for them, like a proper primer color underneath my concealer and it has made a world of difference! My dark circles used to be my nemesis and now I have a quick easy fix. I no longer feel self-conscious about them.
@@lisahill5744 hi! So I got a color corrector primer at Macy's by MAC called peach lustre. Don't laugh- but I also found one that is a bit lighter at the dollar store by L.A. colors, also peach & I mix them! It works beautifully! THEN I apply my concealer on top. For the first time in my life it is actually covered up my dark circles properly. I went to the Mac counter and got color matched. There are 4 main primer colors- peach, green, yellow & pink,I believe.
I have significant dark eye circles too and No one has ever noticed or remarked on them either. Confidence, it is the best thing you can wear. Anna, you are gorgeous, love your channel. PS Harry's is a great razor.
I don’t understand Americans obsession with ragged, super-short denim cutoffs, or Daisy Dukes. Denim is too hot and the jeans style isn’t very comfortable, either. I wore these as a teenager in the 70s: we made them from our damaged jeans, but I moved on decades ago. I think this style is for kids, they just look “trying to hard to look younger” on adult women. Also, no one in Europe wears them, we Americans have made clothing super, super casual, it’s not to everyone’s liking.
I with I could agree, but they are so practical when you think your bottoms might get dirty! They don't show dirt. Definitely not for any kind of event tho (except maybe a backyard bbq lol) ❤️
Not true, in Europe and wearing them right now, I like the material being so sturdy and you can wear every top with them because of the material and the colour. And also doing all kinds of sports in them... Could not understand, though how long denim skirts are a highly praised summer item🥵
I’m not a denim shorts fan either, but I think it would be silly to abandon such a practical and beloved item of clothing simply because “it’s not to everyone’s liking.” We shouldn’t have to dress ourselves towards anyone else’s preferences, especially when the preferences are coming from an entirely different continent.
@@squaretriangle9208 So true about the denim skirts. It was really hot in England last weekend (for us anyway) and I put my denim skirt on 😂 🥵which is typical me I suppose!
I ❤ your videos! I feel like we are twins separated at birth although I’m prob 20yrs older than you! I have the exact same issues with chest and under eyes (I never noticed yours btw). The natural boob probs are real! Small chested gals cannot relate. I even had a reduction after giving birth to my twins but they still persist. 😂
Ladies please stay on top of your feet in the summer. Even if you don’t like polish, take care of those callouses and heels. You can get a pedicure with no polish. Wearing sandals and especially flip flops requires extra foot maintenance.
I love the tailored shorts, had to get me pair! Still building my "summer essentials" wardrobe, but I too love my wide leg linen pants. They are so classy and make a fabulous outfit for girlfriend lunch dates!
Bizarre question but at 7:09 do you know what store that is because I need that purple green and white swirl dress in the center of frame. I almost never wear sunscreen. It just doesn't occur to me. Yes I am a child of the late 60's. I started wearing sunglasses when I stopped wearing my regular glasses. But glasses wearers have a hard time with that because prescription lenses are $$$$$$$
Thanks for the tips... Also, you look nice in everything, And one of my personal favorites is the black tank and white shorts...Also the one bare shoulder black dress, what kind of bra do you wear with something like that ?
Always love your videos. My friend thinks I look like you! I have the cargo shorts and I cuffed them (had to use a seam ripper) and hemmed them a little e longer length Hope you feel better! Vivid is no fun. I got it a year ago and it started with a sore throat and got worse after that. It took about 10 days to feel better. My husband did much better than I did. Take care!
You' re are not only making good videos but also you are a very nice person an Ou slso look beautiful. The teait of your face ist you. Lioking forward watching more of your videos. Take care
My biggest fashion 😳no’s are panty lines, bra straps and people cut the strings off that are on garments for “store use only” they are meant to keep the items on the hangers at the store! CUT THEM OFF!!!!!
I have those dark under-eye circles too, oil of old lady (olay) has become my best friend & I tint it with a bead or two of foundation as 'tinted moisturizer' :)
The revealing that so many women don’t think of is- no cleavage when you look in the mirror, but then- you host at the registration table or are a bank teller- where now you are below people and its allll there- its soo unprofessional and cringy.
Bras are not that easy, we need video about solutions, as it is always a pain to figure out the best solution. I have a strappy dress. What do I wear under it🤦♀️
I used to be unintentionaly revealing because of my big backside, because i didnt realized that on me dresses were a lot shorter on the back than on the front, so when i looked on the mirror i didnt see that. Now i check on the mirror both sides before leaving home😂
Dear Ms Anna, hee hee...so true! You have great points there...revealing too much; well, the go to when comes to short skirts or dresses (especially if you work with young children...) is to wear cycling shorts underneath (you know, the tight shorts bikers wear.... ;) it works!!!! (and, I apologize if I mentioned it before...) Thank you for mentioning....too much make up! Summer brings....a lovely complexion and hues of caramel and lovely colours on the skin if..it breaths! and it looks so adorable (even with imperfections! You are so wonderful reassuring ladies syaing that..." no ones see them " ); you are right!!! A smile...hides everything!! Ah! Ah! Ah! Sleep!!! YES!! It is a natural...face lift! (did you know??? ;) Yes! Ms Anna, thank you!!! It is IMPORTANT to be dressed to feel great about ourselves; not to forget (if I may) also, to feel great for...others! It is NOT being self-absorbed or selfish, it is a matter of respect!! Yes! Yes! Yes!!! Something to add???...oh! It is a fashion faux pas to...wear your summer hat, a straw hat, a cap, a hat after....6 pm! Again and again, thank you so much Ms Anna!!! I enjoy listening to you...enjoy it all the time! helene :) (sorry, I got carried away...)
Yep i agree with all. Ah bras, i love all these cut out dresses but when you need to match bra its a headache. And i agree bra straps, even the most prettiest, sexiest bra, still no go. I looked at my pictures, i wore this Khaite, very bustier strap empire waist white cotton dress. So i could went without bra, but bra nicely lifted, and the straps with lace thin, but still overextending over dress thin straps. Love the dress, but without peaking straps so better. Because of that demi style chest cut, i dont think i could wear strapless bra, or even taping, so not sure, how i will continue wearing it 🤔That reminds me i have another headache. Finally i purchased slip dress. I invested in The Row one. It could be worn without bra . My chest is not too big, but you know my hubby might disagee😱😂 so cant wear strapless, maybe taping, because the back is quite open. I hate self tanning too. I used to get sometimes spray tan, so that was fine. But at home, i will never forget, when i did my legs, and when i came out in the sun, it was all zebra print 😱😂😂😂 i was sitting in restaurant bathroom and was scraping my legs🤪 i would like to find those like in shower, which one could work, those gradual tans. I hate using bronzer, over the neck and shoulders, its hot its humid, its SF , so its get all over the clothes. Accessories, is such a game changer. In the past i wasnt using them. Now cant live without. I am the same, since my life is quite complicated. I am caregiver, for my paraplegic husband, so i have to get him ready, get him in a wheelchair, then take care of myself. So i need like 4 hours m for all, after i do makeup, most of the times, i dont feel dress up. So closet full of amazing clothes, and all i want just grab jeans and tshirt or blouse😳🤪. And yep wind, in SF, i love that it is wind by the beach, so that humidity is not so bad, like last year, oh i loved it. Everywhere is crazy humid, cant breath, but by the beach like 10-15 m/h wind. But the dresses , i love to wear maxi with split or kaftans, they get all over the place 🤪 😂 dark circles, me too. I always had darker, and of course with aging is getting worse😂 and my deep set and hooded eyes, ( which i always loved), now making it worse😂 i tried so many concealers, until i found the one. Its very natural looking, since i do not like my face look like a mask. I use Chanel sublimage correcteur . I think they released last year. I dont even need to use any correctors( which i never liked to begin with) when it comes to complexion, i like very natural look , less is more. 🙌 Have a blessed day🙏💗
I wear denim shorts all the time. They go with everything. I do own other shorts. I just never wear them. I guess I will have to start. I have always dressed for myself. Sometimes my husband doesn’t like what I wear. But I don’t care. I have bought some things not knowing how they would look on me. Those usually go to my granddaughter’s. I know what I should and shouldn’t wear. He doesn’t need to tell me. I recently bought some polyester tops. Which I did by mistake. I didn’t look at the fabric. I will wear them but I probably won’t like them too well. And I will be inside when I do.
Have never noticed your under eyes, your skin always looks flawless! I have acne, and am super pale but the acne is red/purple (and cystic!), but I’ve learnt caking on makeup isn’t the answer, because even if you fix the colour, you can’t hide the horrendous texture. So I just go with one layer of foundation, no concealer, no powder. It looks better than it would if you try and cover it with a tonne of makeup.
I swim 5/6 days a week. I prefer to use pool at night. However I usually go once or twice a week in day time to get vitamin d. Even with just 1 or 2 hours exposure, I get tanned. I really like having tanned arms and legs, look slimmer :)
Hi there Glad the ac guy is coming out so soon . Wr live in Houston Texas . Our ac went out last summer . It was horrible. It took 10 days for the part to come in. It was a staycation for us. ❤
I'm super self conscious about those dark areas under my eyes too. My eyes are older than yours, and the saggy creping is ridiculous with concealers. I wear glasses, so when I'm outside they transition to sunglasses so I'm fine. It's just inside it really bothers me. I'm learning to embrace what I've got, as I am not interested in caking on a lot of makeup at my age.
Thank you ! Totally heeding the advice to dress in only natural fibers this summer! Love your one shoulder black dress towards the end and the lovely tan wedges . Do you have links for them please ?
Skorts. Skirt looking all cute with built--in underwear beneath. Available in a variety of lengths depending on the coverage you want. SPF material in some for sports. And the technology of the Built-in shorts underneath has come leaps and bounds, you barely feel them on.
I bought 3 pairs of bermuda shorts last year. Love them! They look more tailored and upscale than short shorts. I just bought a cutoff denim shorts though. They go with baby doll dresses or tunic tops well.
