After these tests, we learned important information about the stock clutch and possibly why they are failing.
This video series is just part of an explanation about the factory JL/JT clutch posted on the JL and Gladiator forums. For a full discussion, go to:

Just bought my brand new 2023 Gladiator last week and one of the main selling points was its manual transmission. Having put a couple hundred miles on it now, I hate the clutch so much. Plus I have a boat I regularly tow in the summer and I enjoy wheeling. After doing some research plus the most resent recall I was very concerned about having a frailer when it would be most inconvenient. Unfortunately already looking at replacements when came across some forums that mentioned ACT and this video series in particular. Thank you! Finished watching all of the videos and ordered my ACT clutch for my JT. I am 100% confident I made the right choice. Wish more companies would do stuff like this and be more honest with their products and how they came up with their design. I can tell you guys care about what you do and that rare these days. It’s going to be very hard to wait until spring to put this bad boy in. Maybe I will get lucky and find somebody with a garage I can use. Keep up the great work!

Your clutch wasn't out when i replaced mine. How would your clutch stack up to a southbend stage 2 daily clutch?

We haven't tested the Southbend clutch, but it seems they are modifying the original design, which has benefits and drawbacks. The benefit is that you would have less gear noise, and very light pedal feel compared to the ACT. The drawbacks would be limited heat capacity, vague feel, and possibly limited torque capacity.

I installed a Centerforce Dual friction clutch and high inertia flywheel and the clutch is already slipping at around 14,000 miles of use.The factory clutch lasted around 100,000 miles. I have a 2012 JK with 5.13 gears, supercharger, and 35 inch tires, along with a 4:1 low range transfer case from a Rubicon. Have you done tests to see how your clutch compares to the Centerforce? I want to try something better when I replace it.

I am not an expert on the CF product but I am confident in what the ACT clutch can deliver. I recommend you contact CF and see what they can do for you first. As far as the CF, my opinion would be to run the CF11 rather than the DF because the added friction material and surface area should increase heat capacity over the DF. Dirk@ACT
