Wish Jake Phelps didnt hide his addiction to fentanyl and Heroin, while always putting down people who were open about their addiction and substance abuse like Jeff Grosso. In the end they both died from their substance abuse. Never be ashamed to ask for help.

I heard 2018 was supposed to go to Evan but he denied it, saying something along the lines of, This isn't why I skate. I appreciate it but I don't need an award. So it went to Tyshawn. I personally believe he deserved it more so in 2022 as opposed to 2018.

I always preferred TWS mag because I felt they always had better photos. Thrasher is still a damn cool mag though. As a kid in the late 80's I had subscriptions to both.

It's actually so historic and impressive that Thrasher of All magazines survived adapted and thrived. While every other magazine died... That's amazing

I've skated since the 80s and I've never owned a Thrasher magazine which is kinda crazy tbh. I just always skated but didn't really participate in the media side much. Does that make me Phelps level Super Thrasher?

I love Thrasher, but Juice Mag is more core. My fav mag is Confusion mag for the DIY

You should do a video on Best Thrasher issues! Like a tier list or top 10 maybe. Also Bieber can skateboard and did some tricks before on camera. Tre flips, noseslides on small rails, etc. Lil Wayne can also, he's not great but inspirational for younger kids.

My favorite cover is the karma Tsocheff cover. I think he had 3 with Thrasher but his first one was my favorite, I like how they did the double exposure. I think that's the first double exposure cover thrasher did.

Still remember the first Thrasher Magazine I bought in the mid eighties. I always liked the mix of skating and music and sometimes a bit of snowboarding. TWS maybe had better / more glossy pictures at this time, but to me it always felt like Thrasher was always closer to the core of skateboarding.

SkateboardMag was pretty solid. I had about 20 issues Evidently they went out of business in 2013. Even Thrasher is still kind of based. Skating is a lot deeper and rich in culture than anything they can portray. Chew on that.

As a skater js it is was more fun playing skate and destroy in fact i think it every time I skate. Oh dude lots of people give a hoot about people like MJ passing. Dude when phelps passed. That was like there goes a whole portion of everything. Its still feels weird. I grew up on thrasher skated since 96.

1 hoodie sale = 12 magazine sales. the mag is not and never was keeping them alive. its the marketing tool for the real product that only survived becuase it went way beyond mainstream to the point of parody by lame brands. i woulda did the same thing but the print and transition to digital media was never the finical backing.

My favorite cover is the # 500 which is a Neckface's artwork tribute to Thrasher Magazine # 1 graphic.

Personally, think it's pretty transparent that Thrasher has lost what it once was, and has followed suite, like everything else into the corporate sellout version of skateboarding. Their ads and one sided style of skateboarder catered photos and features scream this with each passing issue.. and the fact that they robbed T Funk of soty.

Johnny come last month flavor of the year has been the way to pick soty these last few times….Levi should pick em instead

Look in the 90's skaters were scum. Then mid 90's. jocks started wearing our DCs and Vans etcetera. At first I was kinda pissed but after awhile i realized they were supporting skateboarding without cramping the spots or parks because they did not actually skate. And they were wearing it like kids wear a Yankees hat but never play baseball. Also we had cooler shxt anyway because we skate and got the newest stuff.
