Look. He’s definitely a talented guy. No denying that. But he’s playing against some really unimpressive guys here Edit: all the people sounding off in the comments need to re-read my comment. He’s an unbelievable offensive talent. I know that. I’m just saying, these kids he’s playing are not very good. And it has nothing to do with “oh they just look bad cause he’s that much better.” With or without having Bedard there to compare these kids to, they’re not good. These kids being in bad position to defend and being bad skaters has nothing to do with Bedard. If these kids are 3 or 4 years older than him like everyone says, then these are the worst 17-18 year old players alive. So to be clear so everyone understands: Bedard is phenomenal. He’s going to be an NHL star. The kids he’s playing IN THIS VIDEO are not very good hockey players. That’s all
Most times at this age there are standouts that dominate the more casual players - give it a couple years and the playing field will get a lot more competitive. Bud is good though.
I know his passing may be an issue. But from this video, a lot of the options weren’t properly setup. I’d say he’s experienced enough to see some people just shouldn’t touch the puck. Also spring tourneys are usually about individual progress. He’s not a playmaker. Let him do his thing
Hockey has become a joke sadly. You are correct my friend. Yes of course defensemen could line him up and crush him. Just not the nature of a once great sport.
Can’t believe people are talking bad about this kid. He is a great player and yes, he could pass the puck a little more but he will get better at his team play overtime and he had 41 apples in 36 games as a 14 year old vs 18 year olds and I think he will be a good player in the NHL
John Bristowe he doesn’t need to pass the puck I played at the whistler elite showcase tournament in June and in stat sheet it said he had 1 turnover all tournament along with 15 goals and 10 apples
Yeah, I will go ahead and call this a very very bad take @john bristowe lol, he just put up 51 goals as a 16 years old in 62 games in the whl …keep on shooting kid, keep on shooting
To all the people who commented about playing against bad players. He just became the first ever player to be granted exceptional player status in the WHL
I've played competitive hockey before(AAA). My parents didnt have to buy my coach a car to get on the team lol. But this kid is making it look way to easy. This is what I look like when I play pick up hockey. I really hope he gets more challenge. Otherwise he is just that good. Keep it up kid
@@RoyceTheRiPPer i get what he was saying it’s as in he’s a real triple a player . Like there’s some kids who’s parents have connections . So he was a decent AAA player and when he goes to pick up games it’s like he’s playing 10 yr olds . And that benard would make him look like a pickup player
He recently broke records at the WJC and is most likely going #1 overall😬 sorry you didn’t get your shot in the show, but why would you shit on a 14 year old who’s just doing what he loves? have a good day man!
He’s 14 and if you were able to totally dominate the play like he clearly can, then why wouldn’t you ? I guarantee if he was out there playing defensive and only passing/ playing on the net side of the puck, you would go to the comments and say he’s good but needs to take more chances and take control.
Just remember this is a highlight video of some goals he had.... I'm sure he as no problem passing. Clearly the kid can skate and has great hands. Try not to tear into him just because you dont think the other players are very good.
It's hard for me too understand why people are talking crap about a 14 year old kid that has amazing skills. He has the potential to be an all time great and should be getting praised for the hard work he has obviously put in. It saddens me that there are so many people who were too lazy to live up to their potential, try to make themselves look better by knocking down all the people around them. The fact is, we're watching this kid do things that the people writing the criticism can, and never will be able to do. This kid is a phenom, and he has all my respect for his work ethic. He's a coaches dream. Haters need to pick on someone their own age, and stop harassing kids. Cheers mate.
To everyone criticizing Bedard , this kid just got granted exceptional status to play in the dub . Just goes to show how much all you keyboard warriors really know about hockey .
all this people talking about passing the puck look up him now hes 15 in the whl putting up numbers to match or even beat Connor mcdcvid but yet "still a decent player playing vs b level kids who needs to pass" the kids a prodigy and will defainlty be a number 1 pick and maybe be better then mcdcvid himself and dont forget hes only a 05 and in this video hes 13
really skilled, no worry he will be picked number 1 by a WHL team next spring. Only negative thing I noticed about him was that he didnt use his teamates or pass very often for an example view the play at 1:52 . He had multiple clear passing options to the number 2 defencemen who had a clear shooting lane while Bedard had 2 opponents pressing and checking him but he did not pass and was lucky to get through to the slot because the competition was so poor, it wont be that easy in the WHL he needs to start using his teamates more
@@EmpireWorldwideTrade that is true but im just saying would he continue to take it for himself when he reaches the WHL where you have to utilize your teamates to succede. It could be a little red flag about him but besides that hes an excellant player
Jacob Rich he plays and dominates in one of the top prep schools in Canada bud, he hogs the puck becasue it’s spring hockey, and u can’t hit what you can’t catch.
That guy doesn’t even pass to his teammates, he plays alone! He could pass 2 minutes in the others team zone without even thinking passing the puck once
This is the kid that never makes it to D1 NCAA, never gets anywhere big, ends up getting crushed and then lives out his dream playing in a D-level beer league sandbagging and “going home with the scoring title” showing off for some 16 year old girls in 10pm saturday night games at his local hometown rink who everyone thinks is a douche cause he plays down just to look better.
To the people saying he’s playing against awful kids he is in fucking bantams so it’s not supposed to be junior A skill level he is just very very very good
He’s like Crosby when it comes to his hockey IQ and positioning mixed with Patrick Kane with a shot like Matthews. He just needs to you know, FINISH GROWING 😂 people that complain about his +/- and defensive play seem to forget he’s a 5’9 175 pound 18 year old center playing against 6’4 220 pound veterans. He’s also on the worst team in the league talent wise. The only veterans on the Hawks worth keeping are Kurachev, Dickinson, Foligno and Mrazek. There’s a couple other guys but not many. They have some of the best defensive prospects in the league and Vlasic already looks elite. Del Mastro is an AHL all star too and Kaiser is pretty dang good too.
Really?.... Kid is playing against kids that are not triple A level.. House league at best.... Plus he def likes to show boat... Love to see him do that against triple A level D ... He would get knocked on his ass
Mr Tryhard not salty at all. As a 14-15 year old yeah he has talent but if you watch the other teams defending its low caliber. Put him with kids at his level he wouldn’t shine as much. He doesn’t pass cause his teammates suck lol. I wish I had his skill at 14 but I was more of a Tie Domi player.
Dr. Feast that’s awesome, I’ll check those videos out. I’m not denying he has talent, just in this video he’s playing against some scrubs that’s all. He will make something of himself that’s for sure.
His ability to pass has gotten much better. Yea he's a puck hog here, but if you watch from the 2022 cancelled world jrs to the most recent world jr in Halifax you'll notice a huge difference. He has gotten much better at finding the pass rather than just being a shoot first kid.
I totally agree with you, now that he's reached a higher level he can rely on his teammates more. The only thing I wish I can tell everyone else in this comments section is that the entire point of this video was to show Bedard's ability to skate with the puck and shoot, not pass. I mean, the video is about him "putting up a clinic" afterall
Scoring 2 goals a game... It is time to take your talents to a higher league. Also... If so talented try to raise assist total. Asst leaders are the true play makers. Lastly... When you can out skate everyone you are playing against all the time...playing at lower levels... Where is the fun in that? Move up son. Challenge yourself to be your best.
What clinic? Just check him separate him from the puck. Where’s your clinic. The guy is playing against soft players. Who cares. Show him battling and keeping possession then you might show me something different. Shrug
Thats whAt im sayin Jeremy Live. If he passed it, he would be so much better. This kid would get rocked if he played against some good defense. These junior showcases are nothing but kids trying to dangle and look good. That aint how you get to the pros
