1990 Thames snooker classic featuring 14 year old Ronnie O'sullivan's first ever television appearance PS SORRY ABOUT THE PICTURE QUALITY AS THESE VIDEOS ARE 32 YEARS OLD
Desculpa, nunca ouvi falar. Mas pesquisei no Google, e não concordo. Eu nunca ouvi falar! Lendas o mundo conhece amigo. O mundo todo!
@@jamilulizwan173 where? The guy is an amazing showman! I'd bet once he is going to become multiple times world champion and even create his own video drill system! I see that as obvious as my own reflection in the mirror.
@@M1kaTck Yup. I reckon if he applies himself he will do ok. I think he has a fair amount of talent. I hear another youngster by name of Hendry is one to watch also.
It was plain to see back then where Ronnie was heading but nobody could have guessed how far his achievements would go. Amazing to think after three and a half decades he is still at the top. We have definitely lived through the greatest era of snooker, I can’t imagine anyone coming close to what he has achieved in our lifetimes, love him or hate him you cannot fault his talent.
When the commentator said “Ronnie O’Sulivan” at 5:30 it is a familiar sound to us all as snooker fans, but this is the first time. It rolled off his tongue like he was already the GOAT.
What is truly incredible is that this was 34 years ago, and even then he was a really quick player! Even more remarkable is that Ronnie is currently the World No 1 at the age of 48. If you wanted a true and accurate description of the word “GENIUS” then watching Ronnie at any age would be a great idea!
Great, great video!!!!! Although he had already gained recognition as a fine player at 14 years old this performance showcased his talents to a broad audience and we all know how this wound up! Without question, perhaps the finest snooker player of all time!!! Besides his obvious talents also on display was his poise, confidence and when asked if he was nervous playing on television, without hesitation he replied, "No."
From 34 years ago until the present, Ronnie stroke has not changed that much. You can totally see from this video that it’s no wonder why he’s the best snooker player to ever hold a cue!!! There is only one Ronnie, the rocket O’Sullivan…. he was born to do this.
Such a natural talent.. still hard to believe it took him so long to get his first world title under his belt, and now 32 years or so later he's gunning for his 8th world title.. From prodigy to legend!!!
6:37 the commentator John said "well this is the first time I've every seen this young man Steve and already I'm totally impressed" then at 7:44 John says "and tremendous cue power this young lad has got" definitely an understatement then at 9:45 "obviously a name for the future" says Steve Davis! Another understatement! Then 14 year old Ronnie finishes a 75 break against a 24 year old opponent Steve Ventham. Also this started with 2000 snooker players from 125 clubs ending in 8 players left to play. A great achievement to get to the last 8. 👏 Ronnie was playing quick even at 14. I wonder what age Ronnie was when he started playing left handed too. Great to watch back 34 years later! 👍
Thanks for the great video. Of all the players in that tournament the only one to make it was Ronnie. And seeing that performance it must have been obvious to everyone he was a future star. Great too to see his father, who got him into the game in the first place, and who was clearly really proud of his son. What a pity he had his later problems. So unlucky.
Oh, the laconicism of that ref when our boy casually makes another exquisite shot. Hilarious stuff. Who'd have thunk it, even if he was only 14? His dad seemed a jolly bloke too, nice to see their rapport
Congratulations to Ronnie Snr for nurturing Ronnie's talent no matter what it cost. As a kid, his dad decided to move house to a place where he could build a proper snooker room, with a full size table. He paid a man £200 per week plus a car to look after Ronnie and take him all over the country playing amateur tournements. He loved his son and knew he had a major talent.
Very talented. He is my favorite snooker player. That table is big 12x6 in size. We only have pool table here in ph (9x4 1/2 feet) I wish we have that table here so i can play snooker and try the tiny pockets. From 🇵🇭
Watching him with his dad at that age reminded me of himself with his daughter of about same age he was at that time on a world championship event! He’s a great guy. This is the first time this video appeared in my feed today n man o man I’ll never forget the face of that other kid ventham.
7 Times a champion of the world but that doesn't even matter. What matters is that he is still playing and when he does, nothing else matters. He loves to put on a show and we enjoy every single moment of it. I wonder if anyone guessed back then they were seeing the makings of a god.
I wonder what was going through Steve Ventham's head watching that? A few years earlier he was probably looking at the senior players who would soon be gone, then Stephen Hendry appeared and then THIS!
Video quality was so bad then, you couldn't see the colors of the balls even from up close. Nowadays we have 4k OLED TVs, you can see fly's arse on the far edge of the snooker table.
I think maybe your colourvision perhaps needed testing?? I'd been watching for YEARS before this and all of the colours were quite distinguishable. Even the brown from the reds.
Naw he isny THE WONDERBAIRN WAS THE MOST RUTHLESS AND WINNER SNOOKER HAS SEEN ALSO DOMINATED THE SPORT 5 masters 5 worlds on the spin never to be seen again
It's more the poor quality VHS recording that looks like it's at least second generation (colour in particular got really bad if you copied a copy of a VHS tape). No it didn't look that bad on initial broadcast - in fact analogue TV was better than the current digital SD TV picture as it was uncompressed.
