This had to happen for them to truly be together. Craig still wasn't ready yet. Sometimes it takes losing the person you love to realize how much you love them and to wise up and so this is what needed to happen so Craig could be wise the next time around.
“i don’t fancy other blokes. it’s just john paul. i wouldn’t go with other men. it’s just john paul. i cant help who i’ve fallen in love with.” honestly this makes craig sound more pansexual then anything but since he’s with hans now i think hes bi lmao but this is what makes craig such an iconic character for lgbt. his sexuality not being simplified and being more fluid is something that has aged so well and is extremely relevant today especially with everything in the current political climate of 2021. craig dean should get way more appreciation for giving birth to a lot of the popular lgbt male characters in soap who followed after him. aaron, brendan, callum etc. are all craig sons!
I'd never watched this storyline until 2 days ago!! And it literally only took me about 2 eps to fall in love with them! And now I'm here crying my eyes out :'( Only started watching Hollyoaks half way through the whole JP and Kieron thing so obviously knew that him and Craig ended up together in the end..But nonetheless this just broke my heart omgg!! By far the best ever on screen romance they're amazing cannot believe I missed out all those years ago, can't thank you enough for uploading!

I always thought Craig wasn't good enough for John Paul. John is such a great person he deserves someone who will treat him right, someone who loves him and isn't afraid of showing it. All that hiding never works. It makes you feel like you're living a lie, like what you're doing and what you have going on is wrong. I'm glad JP stood up for himself and I hope he finds someone who will value and treasure him. He's been through enough already. Keep hanging on JP!!!
I still get emotional each time I watch this scene. WOW. I watched their whole journey and it was soo good watching their story. They are very good actors.
It's good they spilt up, when Craig matured and could admitt to who he was, he came back for John Paul and it's better that way. This episode broke my heart at first though :'( Still couldn't help falling into hysterics over "Your mean't to be coming out of the closet not getting back in it!"
From loving him hard to getting beaten up by Craig to getting mixed signals and having his emotions played with . JP deserves all the happiness in the world .
i know. i want to cry too. James played the desperation in his voice so well. he is a great actor. and then Guy fed off of it and took it that one step further when he was begging him to stay. man, i could watch this scene a hundred times and not get tired of it. i wish US soaps added a bit more human drama and raw emotion into the stories instead of always having to rely on fantastical stories such as amnesia and evil twins. love is the best drama there is!
It's my third time watching the JP & Craig storyline (JP & the Oh So Wonder/Handsome/Greatly Missed Kieran are next, again!), but it is so bizzare that I keep anticipating for Craig to shout 'I'm GAY!!' in front of everyone in the airport and for JP to leave with him to Dublin. I know this doesn't happen 'cus I've seen it before, but it's like I firmly believe that that is what is actually going to happen. This storyline truly has no competition in any other TV show ever for a gay couple.
Ahh i love John Pauls little speech at the end "I love you craig" aww so sad but beautiful! And craigs tears running down his cheek! Getting my Mcdean obsession back tehe. This is when hollyoaks went down after Mcdean.
Heartbreakingly beautiful. The fact that Craig can't even shout "Don't leave me" let alone kiss John Paul or hold him at the airport is a sure sign of how much he has yet to grow - but what a great scene!
Guy Burnett's acting from 5:50 to 8:20 and my personal favorites are when he says, "Please, we'll be going to Dubin." and "Don't leave me!...John Paul," so sad! but i still love McDean soo much
@CarolineYMASIX you left out the most important bit, that Craig came back looking way hotter than here :) All tanned and gorgeous, better hair, his face filled out nicely...lovely. (But yeah, you're right!)
That makes a lot of sense. We all want to be loved and to be able to trust our partner. Not being able to predict sexual behavior adds a whole new level of potential distrust to a relationship.
As heartbreaking at this scene was for me, I'm smiling because I read everyone's comments and know that I'm not alone in how I feel about this storyline. It's like ya'll can read my mind.
This scene is so heartbreaking, and as i re watch the series it the one i most anticipate. I have to say that I thought in future episodes that Lockie was one of my favorite JP love interests.
It's good that they parted, Craig wasn't ready. He still didn't really know what his sexuality was or being comfortable in his own skin. Let alone a relationship with John Paul, it's like John Paul said, "It's not that you won't, it's that you can't." Craig was so messed up, he needed time away to sort himself out. I do think that John Paul was the love that Craig wanted forever, it was just a lot to take it, not to mention that John Paul was a bloke and that his whole family (well except Steph) were so nasty about Craig's relationship with John Paul.
I know a lot of you are gonna hate me for this but after all the stuff the craig put john paul through im kind of happy that he walked away. JP is a cutie pie and can get a guy who will love him and appreciate him and won't be afraid of public displays I just think that craig is wayyy too confused for his own good and that its a good idea that he goes to dublin by himself to sort out his feelings instead of playing the whole "I love a guy and i fuck a guy but i'm not gay" act Just my opinion
I´ll tell you what...the airport scene crushed me. I was heartbroken afterwards cos I missed Craig so much :( It was awful...having to wait. We weren´t sure about a SE, so yeah...you can imagine how the fans went crazy.
i am totally agree with Craig that John Paul was really overreacted. Come on John Paul, he was just out for a few weeks and leaving behind everything to go to Dublin with you...and you walked away just because of a kiss. He was not ready for that "public kiss" yet...i think you of all people should understand it.
I understand where JP was coming from but I always felt he was extremely selfish in all his decisions..its like he only considers himself and no one else. Craig took a HUGE step by admitting to everyone he was in love with JP. He should have understood that Craig needed a chance to process his thoughts and its a lot for him.
im so glad that they had the year apart coz it wouldnt ave worked if they went now - niether of them were ready. besides, i dont think craig has a sexuality its not guys or girls, he doesnt like anyone but JP even when he's gone for a year.
Fantastic acting...it's not that 'won't' but that he 'can't'. Even as John Paul is walking away he can't do so much as call after him, although he clearly wants to.
JP was being a bit over the top there in the airport. He loves him. Craig needs time to adjust. Also, he is wrong that he didn't choose him. Sarah asked him back a few times, and he CHOSE him. Great acting by both of them though. Their bond is beautiful in these scenes.
But he wouldn't have chosen JP if he hadn't been forced to make a choice. At this point in Craig's life, I truly believe that he would have married Sarah and tried to keep on seeing JP.
JP is setting the bar really low if he only needs craig to be as HONEST with him as he was with sarah. lol. doesn't he remember how much he lied and kept secrets from her.
Poor lad, for all his faults he really loved JP, but he wasn´t ready yet to just go snogging his face off in front of everybody. JP should had respected that. But, nope...and when he says here that he deserved more it just gets to my nerves, cos later on he´ll have another secret affair, but his "more" will be a dumb, boring, clingy priest! Go figure!! Craig deserved better!

i toatally agree with you guys ,,, i love jp ,,, well i love the kieron story,,, but US soaps is so medieval... the only thing that I could think off is some part of Queer as Folk but thats it ,,, well there is one segment in grays anatomy about military affair ,, that is a good one ,,but this utterly and indulgently addicting i cant stop myself
To be fair Craig did answer Jake and said he didn't know if he was bisexual. Up until now he's only liked girls, then John Paul came into the picture and became the love of his life. He's had zero experience with other men. I do believe in recent episode JP tells his dad that Craig been with a new man. So I guess finally Craig is either bi or pansexual.
It has actually been proved that nearly EVERYBODY falls in love with someone of the same sex in their lifetime. Wether they are gay or not. I guess that this one was Craig's. And i really think JP should be more conciderate! This is actually really difficult for Craig!
As much as i am generally with JP, i do think he's kind of overreacted..i mean there's not much time since the public coming out of their relationship, and Craig might just need his time to get used to the idea of being with a man in public, whereas JP has had his experiences already..he's set his aspirations on Craig just too high instead of helping him develop the confidence he had plenty of time to get :( but anyway, their breakup clears the way for a romantic reunion at least...:P

How much I thought JP was right and being unfairly treated by Craig throughout the episode (and so many before) there was at one point he pissed me off here, for the first time, 2:00 to 3:20. You dont fall in love with what sex a person has, you fall in love with a person! There isn't really anything called gay or straight, whats the big deal? So what if Craig still is a bit afraid of saying that he could fancy men, and still likes women. Anyone in the world could fancy both, they aren't unique.
Yeah me too. It's like you love the person, not the fact that they're the opposite sex. Or that's how I feel about it. Also the word gay has such negative connotations that you may not wanna use it, but rather say you love the person.. who just happens to be a man.

Craig is Bisexual with a preference for women. The person he happened to fall in love with just happens to be a man. Given similar circumstances in the future, he could in theory fall in love with another women or another man. People just feel more secure putting people in these neat little catagories. Sometimes the catagories just don't fit the situation at hand.
@Jordgubbsmix It was a soap thing. Guy wanted to leave. James was still under contract. I think I heard somewhere that Guy was due to leave just after the Dance Off, but he stayed a few months so they could develop Craig´s storyline with JP. He was smart though, cos Mcdean gave him the opportunity to show he´s a great actor.
Yeah, what I dont understan is why jp is s upset because craig is being the same craig he has been since their relationship became "public." I think jp is scared and using craigs insecurity as an excuse. Why would he expect craig to suddeny change because they were at the airport. As craig says about a year later jp did not give him a chance.
Would have been easier if JP just tried to kiss Craig publicly. That way if Craig pushed him away he would have clear evidence that something was wrong and a reason to brake up.

Lol anyone who thought JPK was real love, SERIOUSLY? Kieron was the most boring character I've ever seen, and it's not to do with the fact I find Guy much more good looking than Kieron. Craig acted like an idiot during their relatinship because he spent his WHOLE life only feeling attracted to girls, then along comes our adorable JP, and his perspective of love changed. Kieron was just an obstactle in the way of JPC. McDean forever
@ianw3469 I believe that, althought the JPK affair was also a sneaky one for the most part, when they were out, it showed JP that even when he had the gay and proud-to-be-with-him boyfriend, it still wasn´t enough, when that boyfriend wasn´t the one. Kieron knew that and he feared the " ghost of Craig", so much that once C was back he pretty much knew it was game over (hence his comment to Niall that if JP knew C was comming back then he´d definitely want him out of the way)
