Spring has Sprung! Time to remove the Kubota B2782B Snowblower from the B2601 Compact Tractor. Several subscribers have the same model snowblower and asked for a detailed removal video. Grab a coffee and see how easy it is to get the job done. Cheers!
Note: This is NOT an instructional video.

I believe that is called a lynch pin. Don’t quote me on it, but that’s what I’ve always called it, lol! Glad everything is warming up now. I finally went out in a T shirt the other day when it reached 40°. It was wonderful. However I’ve traveled to the deep south in Florida for spring break! Only been here one day and my pale self is red as a lobster. I’m going to have to go check on video #38 now, to add it to my list. I believe I know the answer but I gotta confirm it. Hope all is well up north. If you want any more snow, give me a holler, because we still have about a foot on the ground back home. See you around GP! God bless.

GP, .Thank you for the opportunity to see the way you route your hoses for the snowblower. I was doing it from the book and it did exactly what you said a.bout the tires rub the hoses. I will use your way from here on in. Thank you for the very informative information on the hoses. You have helped me a lot just seeing how you think out of the box. I’ve come to expect nothing but the best in videography from you GP...and may I add today’s video is no exception to the expectation !! Another sub commented on retracting your cylinders to protect them from potential damage. Joe and I both agree that’s the best idea. But if you have a implement or machine that cannot be retracted to store, a thin coat of gun grease protects from the elements quite well. It doesn’t do much for something metal dropping across it but at least it’s protected from nature’s attempt at reclamation. I think some of my old tractors would fall apart if I were to clean them half as clean as yours. It’s the dried mud, muck and rust that holding them together !!! Lolol. Keep up the good work sir.

@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
LOL. Thanks Sonnicman! Glad I covered all the important points. If I can ask, how well did the broom work for you? I have never used one and probably isn't too great for a gravel driveway but I was interested in how well one would work on pavement or cement? Cheers!
@sonnicman
@sonnicman 5 лет назад
@@GPOutdoors I used it on an asphalt driveway. LIke your spreader, it takes some trial and error and a bit of finesse. I found you have to find a balance between the height of the bristles and its revolutions per minute. Initially, I dropped it to the ground like I'd drop a snow plow and cranked up the rpm. This method resulting in a choking dust cloud. Method two was lightly having the bristles brush against the surface with just enough rpm to do the job. For tough spots, I applied a bit more pressure and more rpm. I think you could make it work on gravel, but you would want the bristles just skimming the surface of the stone or aggregate and keep the rpm's low or you'd likely have rock shooting everywhere. Would I personally own one? No, but for seasonal work or post-winter sand cleanup, it's awesome.

Looks you did not have to use the persuader! This subframe is well designed, so no need! This retaining pin can be called a D-pin or a D-clip. I see you clean your hydraulic protection caps. One trick is to keep them always in use. So to say, when your hydraulic hose is connected, you match the male plug to the female plug. So they keep themself clean! Hi GP. Another great Video! We received our B2601 a few weeks ago and it has been Awesome! Love It! We still have about 4 feet of snow in the yard here…I just went out and measured and we have about 7 feet next to the drive and about 16 feet where we have been snowblowing snow away from the driveway. I am not sure when we will thaw out :) Enjoying the life here in the high Rocky Mountains of Idaho and doing lots of skiing & absolutely loving our B2601 for keeping our driveway clear. A few questions of items I saw on this video...1) What do you think is the best way to clean up the diesel exhaust on the left hand side of the snowblower without damaging the paint? 2) Where did you get your snowblower skid shoes…ours came with plastic ones that don’t seem to be holding up too well with a gravel driveway. 3) Did you weld that expanded metal onto your brush guard & paint it Kubota Orange? That looks like a great modification & would be awesome to protect the front of the tractor from brush in the summer. Hope you enjoy this coming Spring! Keep up the great videos!
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Good morning ABA! That's great. Glad you are enjoying it (and hope you are keeping a heavy weight on the rear for stability :))). It must be beautiful seeing the mountains and hills everyday. RE your questions: I am not sure yet but will know in a few weeks. I am going to try a couple of products suggested by a few subscribers - one of which is down below in the comments on this video. So I will include it in a video within the next month or so. 2) The skid shoes came on the blower stock. I am surprised to hear yours has plastic. Perhaps you can order the part from your dealer and switch them out if the bolt holes are compatible. 3) Yes indeed. Video #41 for your viewing pleasure. LOL. I bought the mesh from a local steel place - about $10.00, and I had a can of Kubota Orange on hand from my dealer, and of course, my good neighbour Guy did the skilled welding on it. I have been very happy I put that mesh on there several times avoiding damage to the front hood. Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Have a great week and be safe out there! Cheers!

On tip... prior to disconnecting the hydraulic hoses I always fully retract all the cylinders so that the chrome rods are not exposed to the weather during the off season. Granted, the finish on the rods is very durable but since they can be stored either way I just feel better when they are not exposed during long term storage.

Hi Gord You mentioned cleaning the snow blower with spray 9 to remove the carbon I have the same problem with mine it gets really black on the left side I prefer to use Zep orange cleaner from Home Depot it is far more mild than spray nine but does a better job on carbon and it won't harm the paint we use it at work to clean carbon they sell it in spray bottles or by the gallon and it is not expensive you will find other uses for it around the cottage

@GPOutdoors

Good morning and thanks Francois. Unfortunately not with this subframe. You can not use the loader at the same time because the front of the subframe impedes the loader function so I have to take the whole blower and subframe off in order to put my FEL on. I also confirmed that with Kubota. I wish I could and although it is pretty easy to remove it, it is kind of harder in negative temps. Cheers!

FYI. Be sure to check the measurements with the output shaft coming from the PTO to the mid PTO driveline shaft. My output shaft came loose from the mid driveline shaft and it cost me $300 for a new output shaft! There are two 1/4" allen set screws on the front and rear bearing collars that the driveline shaft slide through. Three screws let go and the rear output shaft came loose from the spline of the driveline shaft. The distance from the end of the spline on the driveline shaft to the edge of the bearing coupler is 5 3/4" . That leaves about 3/4" for the front driveline male to connect to the front spline of the midline shaft. The midline shaft slides between the rear and front bearing collars and can be adjusted to the proper setting. It will all make sense when you look at it. My dealer said to use blue locktite on the four allen set screws to assure they stay put. Clean out the holes with carb or brake cleaner to clean out the grease before using the locktite. I will be checking the 4 set screws before I blow snow in the future and I advise you to do the same!!!

Gordon Watching you take off the blower reminded me that that you had the same problem I did with with Kubota's power chute rotator--it stalls. Did cleaning out the teeth solve your problem? For me, cleaning was only a temporary solution. There was too much play in the system and the teeth could not engage the drive system. Took some shimming and grinding too fix it. Hoping to blow some more snow this season, in the Washington Cascades. Pete Hutzel
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Good day Pete. Thanks for the question. Yes it did fix it totally. I stopped using grease and now only use lubricant. It does not stall any longer since last winter when we did it. Sometimes it won't go all the way to the left but usually I find there is ice or something built up so I usually check it first and clear out any ice or snow before I use it. But you are right, it is kind of loose feeling when I grab it and move it but it does not stall any more. Thanks for watching and all the best to you in the Cascades!
@petehutzel3778
@petehutzel3778 5 лет назад
If it is working, don't mess with it. Just watch for this scenario: power rotation works fine if no snow is going thru the blower. As soon as snow is flowing heavily, it stalls at the same point each time. The lateral thrust from the snow leaving the spout shifts the base of the spout enough to disengage the teeth.

Hi there, Im wondering what Subframe model that was? I have a B2601 and recently acquired a B2782B blower but the subframe that came with it is not compatible with my tractor. My local dealer here in alaska is telling be the snow blower isnt compatible either, with is hard to believe. I dont know if kubota even makes those subframes anymore or if they are only stocking the new K connect ones which might be the actual reason for my dealer telling me what he did. Trying to exhaust all options before forking out 9K for a brand new setup.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors Год назад
Hi Joshua. I wish I could remember but I sold the tractor and the blower etc including all the manuals along with them. However, I may be using the wrong terms but here goes. There is a "frame" that permanently bolts to the tractor frame - it never gets removed (part #1) - it is thick steel ,black and provides the attachment point for what I will call the sub-frame ( part 2) - this is the part that you see me drag under the tractor, and 'hook' onto the front of the 'frame' and then I connect to it with that long steel rod under the tractor. that rod connects the blower 'subframe' to the blower 'frame'. Then the blower connects to the 'sub frame' . Do you have the 1) frame, 2) sub frame and 3) the blower ? (3 pieces)? Sorry I can not remember all the correct terms. I have numerous subscribers on the channel that have a B2601 with the B2782B blower. I would not be as bold as to suggest that your dealer is wrong but perhaps he just misunderstood the question. I imagine that the blower is an older model for sure, but i would think that they could still order parts for it, if you are missing one of those pieces. Let me know. .

@@GPOutdoors Thanks for the reply, the subframe I have came off of a B2620 and the brackets that came with it are not compatible with my b2601. I have all the Pieces, but sadly none of the holes line up for me to bolt them to the tractor frame. I wish kubota had an online publication to cross reference things of this nature. Maybe there is something out there but I have not found it yet.

Good morning Annie. I don't know but was watching Grampie's workshop lately on his maple syrup making videos and will look through the forest this summer to see if i have any. I know they are resident in this geographic area. Cheers!

I have the same blower on a B3200. You are missing the bracket that routes the hoses. It mounts in front of the right front wheel.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Hey good morning John. I have the bracket - actually 2 of them. One in front of the wheel and a spare they gave me if I wanted to use it behind the wheel. I prefer to wrap them up high away from the wheel and axle. Thanks though and all the best!

I have a manual chute rotator so when I have my blower hooked up I only have two hoses. The factory bracket works fine. When I change out to the B2775 blade with left/right adjustment, I have four hoses. The blade hoses are much longer so I still route them through the factory hanger but supplement one of those rubber twisties for extra measure. Your solution works great if you are only installing once a year. I was just letting you know in case the dealer forgot to give you one. I am going to try your p;sh to the center method next season. I have been pushing the snow to the right and then changing to the blower, making two passes. I keep over a mile open up here in Idaho.

Your ‘safety chain’ while it works to support your PTO while not attached, is actually there to keep your PTO shield from turning with the PTO shaft. It is indeed a safety chain to make the shield safe. A spinning shield is just as dangerous as a spinning shaft!
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 лет назад
Good morning Coy. Thanks for this - surprisingly that's what I thought too, except that it is not. True story. The shield spins freely in the manual, and I spoke to my dealer because I thought the same thing you did except the PTO shield has no place to connect a safety chain, and the chain that is there is not long enough to perform that function. The dealer confirmed it is not there for the PTO shield. And one of our subs has the same blower and confirmed the same thing with his dealer. It is only there to hold up the shaft off the ground when not in use. So I went to the hardware store and bought that hose clamp you see there, as well as a foot of chain and rigged up the shield to stop spinning. Yup. Seems odd but true. Cheers although and thanks for the help!

LOL! Yes sir, always throw my garbage on the ground when working - in the same pile/area so I can come back with the bag and toss it all in at once when I'm done. I know, it's a little lazy but easier than dragging the bag or can around with me as I work. Have a great weekend!.

@@GPOutdoors if you take a flat screw driver a small one look on the pull side of the zip tie you will see the the locking pin you take your screwdriver set it up against the lock pin pull on the zip tie until its half way to the other locking position and work your screwdriver in under the lock pin and the zip tie should slide open the small ones i cut but the larger ones i unlock cheers

I just cleaned the soot off my blower. I used a product called De-Solv-it Contractors' Solvent. www.de-solv-it.com/all-products/contractors-solvent/ I was impressed with how easily it removed the soot. I found it at a local hardware store. It also worked great at removing grease.

Hey thanks very much Christopher. I will see if they carry it at our local stores here. I usually use Spray Nine but would certainly be happy to try out a new product and compare. Thanks for the tip! Cheers!
