Every once in a while a truly funny woman will pop up out of thin air, and get you by surprise. For example, I was watching both of the roasts for Vos and Norton the other day, and the second woman who came up (I think it was on the Norton one) was probably only beat out by Nick D. @@scottbaylo Laurie is hilarious, she wrote for Tough Crowd and was on a few episodes. Still, her problem was she didn’t really go for jokes off the cuff and had to rely on her writing. Her style works better on roasts or stand-up than tough crowd. Honestly there are a lot of great female comedy writers, but few who can do well off the cuff. Judy Gold was similar, she was kind of annoying on the show but her prepared bits were solid. The only ones I’ve seen do well at that were Sarah Silverman and Bonnie McFarland, though Bonnie stays relatively quiet and a lot of people find Sarah’s voice annoying.

@Music Sauna Mixing Board Δ MUSIC SΔUNΔ 💨 and we found out how Patrice took his mum to talk to Colin about coming back to Tough Crowd Lol.. that's just the two kf them being juvenile.. did you see the last episode of Tough Crowd ? Patrice thanked Colin for getting him on even though he annoyed everyone, said it was the best thing he'd ever done... Colin's delivery is a trainwreck for sure but there is a reason he has the respect of some of the best in the business

@Music Sauna Mixing Board Δ MUSIC SΔUNΔ 💨 I don't think Jerry had anything to do with Tough Crowd..a group of them used to get together regularly at the cellar and bust balls like they did on Tough Crowd too..Colin thought of making it into a show..the fact that he'd been on SNL for 5 yrs helped.. Jerry did help Colin with his one man show though..directed one of them. but the reason he liked Colin in the first place is cuz he's funny :) They made fun of Colin a lot on the show but he got all of them back from time to time

@Music Sauna Mixing Board Δ MUSIC SΔUNΔ 💨 No, things back then weren't anywhere near as bad as they are today.. it's true that the show couldn't possibly be on Comedy Central TODAY but this level of political correctness simply didn't exist at the time..the "cancel culture" crowd certainly ranted on the Tough Crowd message boards but they didn't have the influence that they do today...( Chappelle notwithstanding Lol ).. the nature of the show brought some searing criticism in the media ( NY Times ) and played a major role in it not lasting beyond 2 yrs..there was hardly any promotion by Comedy Central.. the NBC version of Tough Crowd ( The Colin Quinn Show ) didn't get picked up.. I have been following Colin and the regulars long before the show was born and have read/heard just abt every available thing on its history..never have I come across anything abt Seinfeld playing a role in the show getting on air...so, your assertion seems like conjecture at best..Colin wasn't exactly a nobody at the time.. he'd done a one man show off Broadway ( The Irish Wake ) and was an SNL alum..

Watching now, I found Stewart unfunny and stifling to the comedy of the regulars in this episode, but his points were definitely more poignant and less hackneyed then, in a super nationalistic post-9/11 America, than they are today.
