A first look around the Ferrino Solo, a 4 season tent from Italy. Under 2kg and under £250 but feature packed and solidly built. Get the Ferrino Solo tent here: amzn.to/2YEnZt0

I had a Ferrino day pack for some time in the early 2000’s. Good build. Like that tent.

What a find!!!!! You really are the Heineken of tent reviewers. You find tents to review that other you tubers cannot reach. It looks brilliant for the price and looks to address my main bugbear.......guying points. A bit cosy but for a bomber overnight it looks like a budget friendly option👍👍👍 great work and ATB for 2020 Andy.

Andrew, Andrew, Andrew.. what is with you and I, hm? We keep looking at the same tents all the time! It's amazing haha. Only difference is that you keep pulling the trigger and makes me so excited! Thank you for sharing this, can't wait to see how this tent performs! :D

Pulled the trigger on this as it was a good deal I thought and when I looked at features it added up too, hope to get out with it tonight and will post an update. It got a hammering last night in garden in driving rain and wind and it's bomber stable and dry, fingers crossed !

Interesting video, the adventure continues in the quest for the ideal tent. Although I don’t see this one lasting- cramped sleeping area and small vestibule. Good to have your input.

looks to have some great features and with that window resembles a resting octopus! i guess if you're going to sleep in a coffin you might as well have room for a mezzanine floor ;) looking forward to part 2

2 kgs is not the best weight for long trips maybe but this is the best 1p cold weather tent I have seen so far...I imagined lying in this tent and felt warmer and safer when watching...Honestly I wont care that extra 1kg on my backback...Thanks a lot for rhis beautiful review...Thank you Mr. Park. good price and an interesting concept with the heat reflective lining. The steep high walls look like they'd take a battering in high wind, and the fly seems not to hug the ground. But then again there are no perfect tents, or at least non that I've seen.
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors 4 года назад
Yes true, as you say end on into wind either end is ideal but the weather and pitch are rarely ideal, I think the vestibule side will shed wind not too badly with the double guys, the back panel has just one and might be a bit of a sail ! We'll see in real use. A

Apart from the foil lining it doesn't seem to be bringing much to the party. I suppose it'll be difficult to tell exactly how much warmer this makes the tent in cold conditions, if at all, but I look forward to hearing your impressions! Nice Roly Sub btw.

Hi David, I think it ticks a lot of boxes for the money for a 4 season, it's just whether it's too 'cosy' inside..we will see ;-)

Another great review. But on first impression would you choose this over a msr acess
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors 4 года назад
Hi Shawn, I think that boils down to budget and size. If you can pick up the Access 1 at about 350 I'd say it's worth it for the space and stability. If your smaller and on a tight budget the Ferrino seems a great value option.A

Excellent Review ! I'm almost about to order one of these. I have a North Face Stormbreak 2 now, but its very cold, so I'm looking for something warmer and this one seems to do the job. I live in the middle part of sweden, so it's cold almost around the year. I'm looking for a dome tent to be able to use it on rocky ground along the coastline, kayaking :) Any alternative's that you would recommend ?

did you buy this in the end? I'm in the same boat as you, froze my butt off in the Stormbreak so looking for something warmer! How did you go with the Ferrino Solo?
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors Месяц назад
It's probably one of the cheapest 4 season tents you'll find but the build quality could be a bit 'italian'. I ripped a guying point off in a storm but to be fair that could be pitching error on my part. I sold it to someone and the welded window started coming off within a few weeks ) fixable but shouldn't really happen. But it is strong and warm if a little narrow in the inner . A

My son bought one of these for a trip to NZ, on the Te Araroa trail in Jan-Feb 2020. Had a number of manufacturing defects arise, including on the pole sleeve seams where the stitching had entirely missed the material, tiny pole stress fractures appearing, one of which gave way, and the glue on the window completely coming adrift. The window is just glued in place, which seems very odd given that every other seam on the fly is quite well stitched and sealed. He made running repairs and has a warranty claim underway. Fairly disappointing for a "4-season" tent.
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors 4 года назад
Hi Ben, not good QC! I did check mine over on delivery, everything seemed OK but I noticed some of the adhesive lifting on the edge of the window, keeping an eye on that and can add some glue if necessary. Funnily enough all the tents I've had with windows are all adhesive, never seen a sewn one, I think it's the heated needles of machines melting the pvc is a prob. Hope he gets his money back . ATB A
@BenL42
@BenL42 4 года назад
@@AndrewParkOutdoors Hmm, good point re. sewing PVC windows... Perhaps a better glue would work, permanently. He's keen to keep the tent as barring these "little" (imho, woeful!) issues he's happy with it. We'll see if the retailer - TrekkInn - will come to the party.

Cheers Andrew very interesting tent b a bit snug for me at shoulders, but Im thinking of getting lightwaves single wall tent the sigma... I'm looking to do more multi day trips so need to reduce weight I believe you've used that tent does it deal with condensation as well as they claim and the other concern for me would it handle high wind's b going to shetlands cheers sammy atb
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors 4 года назад
Hi Samuel, I really rate the Sigma as one of my top tents, light strong spacious and minamilist. I see the new S10 us out and the S22 on ultralight outdoor gear and I'm very tempted ! They handle winds well and x-tex does a great job most of the time but when it gets really wet it has its limitations and you may have to dab and mop up wee rivulets ( happened once to me in a storm at Applecross. Good value for a 4 season tent but to be honest I'd rather carry the weight penalty and have a less coffin sized tent.

Hi Andrew, did it hold up so far and would you say it's much more stable than a BD Firstlight or MSR Advance? I could get the Ferrino for 240€ and it seems you can't really beat that. Looking for an alpine style tent for 4 seasons and was initially thinking about getting the Soulo for super safe protection but I think it's just too heavy for climbing. Cheers
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors Год назад
It's great value but i have some doubts about it's construction. It's a bit like an Italian car. Two things came to light with it which are not deal breakers at the price but..it tore a guy line loop off in high winds when i was trying to pitch it ( you may have seen that vid and it could be my mistake ). After I sold it the girl who bought it told me the clear window came away from the fly. To be fair that could be fixed with some glue. So yes it's a great value strong option but the QC and construction is a bid iffy possibly. A
@jacks.8472
@jacks.8472 Год назад
@@AndrewParkOutdoors Thats great to know and I actually had the same concerns with the window and maybe with the inner foil. I'll probably bite the bullet then and go with the heavier Soulo probably even the BL version to make it a life investment instead of dumping money into cheapish tents.

So many things the get right in this tent, ideas that could vastly improve other tents, but the things they have got wrong make it a no no for me anyway. It’s just not got the space inside or porch capacity for me.
