Nice set up bro! I’m looking at a 1988 power skiff 15. Pretty pumped to check it out / potentially buy. Been fishing a hobie outback pedal kayak for years and felt it was time to move up to a skiff
Such a beauty! I have an '87. They handle better in seas than any Whaler I have been in of the same size!! Smaller boats like this really need to have creative storage areas too - you did a great job!!
Agreed there ! Love this little boat. I’m actually in the process of putting my batteries below deck to open up the storage area up front and open up some deck space at the stern
@@hobiepowerskiffadventures1663 Nice! I just finished installing a new main wiring loom with new lights, switches and gauges. I’m going to get my battery below deck next season. I have the two-way teak helm seat that I refinished as well.
@@deweypug nice ! That’s the original seat I had on mine as well. Currently repainting the entire outside of the hull, doing some fiberglass repairs, and redoing the entire console, wiring, and switches etc too. Hopefully been finished up and back on the water in about a month
I have a 86 HPS with 50hp yamaha 07, i run a 11.1".dia x 13p 3x cup top speed 34mph by myself + fuel & gear. I had a 87 HPS years back with 90hp yamaha!! Sure miss the 90hp it would do 52-54 mph, but I do agree the 50hp range is light and performs well on that hull.
Currently, with running a 10.5x14 pitch aluminum turning point hustler prop, I top out at 34.5mph with just me, a full tank of gas, and rigged for fishing. That’s turning 5950 rpms as well. I’m sure I could tinker and get more out of it, but 35mph is plenty fast enough for me
@@hobiepowerskiffadventures1663 cool thanks. I saw one listed with a Yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke (seems like way too much motor) that the guy said hit 49 MPH once - wow.
@@btxpres9912 yea 90 is definitely a lot of motor for these skiffs. They were rated for a 70hp. I know people put the 90hp 2 stroke yamahas on them a lot, but in my opinion it’s way too much motor. 50-70hp is perfect
