10 years ago, I use to take this route every single morning to work from Carson to Reno. I don't miss living in Carson City, but I do miss the beautiful drive in the early morning as that morning fog blankets over the mountains from the West into the valley lake with the blue sky shining down on everything.
Dude, your videos are the best. I really appreciate what you do. A lot of people aren't fortunate enough to ever get out of their city and travel, but you make videos for those of us that love travelling but can't afford to do it often. That means a lot man honestly. :)
I love your videos and a bit jealous that you get to travel the country, but this let's me and others get a taste of our huge and wonderful country! Kudos!

I was just in Nevada last week for my 1st time ever in Las Vegas and CES, and I was absolutely amazed. The Strip is definitely something else! Outside of the Strip, Fremont Street was a sight to behold too. You're making me want to go back and watch your Las Vegas videos again now.

The I-80 across Nevada video was taking down months ago but before that happened I heard 2 songs on it that I never heard before that I really liked Gentle on my mind by Glenn Campbell and the other one was in a big country dreams stay with you by Big Country thank you freeway jim
Visited Carson City to see family sometime in the 00's and remember seeing pieces of the interstate being built through town. Cool to see how it turned out, at the time it was mostly the bridges for crossroads built.

nice video Jim an automatic deicing device was in use on Interstate 78 from exit 7 to 11 2006 to 2009 and I would say the 5 freeway should use them in the violin summit area exits 183-176
Just wanted to thank you for making these great ride along videos. I am from West Central Illinois and recently went out west to Stagecoach Nevada to visit my niece. Then from there we went to California. I was wondering if you have made a video going to Fort Bragg from Reno? The Lake Tahoe to Carson City was really great to see since i never really got to see all my surrounding and your video made that possible for me. Thank you again, and PLEASE keep the videos coming. Hi Jim, was just going through your playlist which contains all of your videos from the states you have been to and it has totally shocked me that you have only been to Nevada once or maybe just done 1 or 2 vids in the whole state compared to all the rest of the states..............
+Andrew Silva There's two from Las Vegas from 2013, this one and next weeks video of I-80 :) It's not a destination for me like SF or LA os, so I film what I can while passing through.
Left the area in 2014 after 15 years there. Before that a friend and I used to muse over what would be finished first: I580 or the reopening of the Ormsby House hotel in Carson City. This video settle it.
been living here almost 30 years now, and will admit the freeway has been a long time coming, but with it, it has meant the the businesses on the northern part of carson have been suffering quite a bit only because not nearly as many people now when they come into carson from Reno actually come into the city, they all mostly stay on the Highway now and bypass mostly the whole northern part of the city, the last phase of the freeway from Fairview to Highway 50 West to Lake Tahoe shuld be opening up in the next couple of year hopefully...
And there was a day when 50 and the old routes was the only.. Now traveling on the new sections no longer allow you to live history.. I drive it regularly..
What's the average amount of time it takes? Is it worth it for someone to live in one and drive to the other everyday? Does that just depend on the job and how good it pays? Or would it make more sense to just do this trip for shopping, visiting, fun, etc. on occasion? It just seems that even with this sped up, it takes a while : /
who was this person again who filmed this video for you, just wanted to let them know about the last section ofhe Carson City Freeway whcih they say sould be open sometime late spring or early Summer of next year.....
aure hope that you can come back and do another video but this time do it when our Last section of the freeway opens to the Lake Tahoe turnoff, it hopefully will be completed and open within the next couple of years if that
+Dikra Lazuardi Not at the moment but I will have a section around Limon heading east coming next month in video #15-40, but honestly there isn't much to see east of Denver.
Because it is built to Interstate standards and connects with I-80, most 3 digit Interstates are short in length, they are auxiliary routes from the main route.
We really dislike this boring see nothing drive, however in twenty years have "never" seen a Highway Patrol vehicle, so you can drive like hell to get to Reno.
