As the narrator says in this video, Willy Wonka's back story was not a part of the book that the film was based on. It was, in fact, inspired by Johnny Depp's childhood.

All of the songs that the Oompa loompas sing at the end of each kid's demise is, instead of all being the same rhythm like in the 1971 version, are in different musical styles: Augustus Gloop - Cuban mambo Violet Beauregarde - 70s Soul funk Veruca Salt - 60s Psychedelic Mike Teavee - 80s Punk rock

@@FunFactFilms I've actually read the book, so I know the similarities. Like the songs that the Oompa Loompas sing at the end of each kid's demise, the lyrics are ALOT the same as the lyrics in the book. And the pink boat that they sail down the river, is EXACTLY how it is described in the book.

It's not a remake if it's another adaptation of the book. Otherwise, a lot more elements from the 1971 film would be included.

Fun Fact Films Yeah, I like both versions, but I like the remake better because it’s much closer to the book and Charlie’s dad is in it. Also, at the end, they show the kids leaving the factory with their parents.

The only thing accurate to the novel that the 70s version had was Willy Wonka. Other than that, it was bastardized and gave no justice to the book unlike the Tim Burton version.

0:31 never knew they actually used real animatronics in that scene! Funny how the song annoyed the people making the scene! I used to be so terrified of that scene! Used to hide every time I came into that scene! But now I just love how dark and creepy it is! Most of the dolls do look quite cute and friendly lol

I loved them both for different reasons. Willy Wonka came out when I was 8 years old. Seeing all the chocolate and candy made me wish I could be there with them. On the other hand Johnny Depp’s version was so funny. My daughter and I laughed so hard throughout the whole movie we could hardly breathe. The majority of the audience didn’t understand our laughing and would turn around looking at us. They only laughed at the simple things like walking into a glass door etc. Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp were both great.

Totally understandable! Much closer to the book, Charlie’s dad is in it, and at the end, they show the kids leaving the factory with their parents. I also love how the chocolate river looks like actual chocolate. And that’s just to name a few reasons why this version is mucho better than the original.

Here's another fact: Johnny Depp was never the original choice to play Willy Wonka. Many actors and comedians were all briefly considered for the role such as Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Nick Cage, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Mike Myers, Ben Stiller, Leslie Nielsen, three members of Monty Python (John Cleese, Eric Idle, and Michael Palin), as well as Patrick Stewart, and Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman and Marilyn Manson

At the beginning you only see bleak colors, the only thing you get is the red trucks sent out by Willy Wonka at the first minutes of the movie! Then as soon as Charlie walks into “Oz” essentially, the color floods in! I love it! Dorothy: Oh I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore…
